“Everpresent converted an old video from 1984 to digital format, preserving the content and my mother’s and sister’s voice narrating it, while reducing the sound of the old reel to reel tapes. Prior to sending it to them I had watched it on a VCR. The sound of the reel to reel they had copied it from at home nearly totally drowned out my mother’s and sister’s voice. It was wonderful to hear their voices much clearer with the reel to reel sound diminished. The colors had clearly been affected by the passage of time but the content of my parents, my 7 siblings and I from 1963 to 1984 was preserved. Holidays and vacations and birthdays, everyday life and special occasions. It’s preserved for all of us to watch like we did when we were kids. It’s a treasure and I’m grateful to all of the Everpresent staff for that.”

After they both passed, it became imperative to have the film digitized (along with another, shorter film of a family vacation).

“Hi, Sad to say the quality of the reel transfer to digital was poor. I know the reels were quite old and didn’t know what to expect. My daughter had to use a song identifier app to get a list of the songs on the digital transfer and set them up in Spotify. We’ll be able to use the Spotify version at my brother Mark’s celebration of life service, but would have preferred the digital version. My brother was a DJ and took a lot of pride in mixing songs to create the reel.”

Sometimes Old tapes often present a variety of issues including discoloration and sound and tracking issues. 99% of the time, there is nothing we can do, which is upsetting for us too. The good news is you stopped the aging process by using EverPresent to digitize the tapes.
