“First Tutors is an easy and convenient way to find a tutor in your area. We have used it to find tutors for Spanish and English and have been very happy. The introduction fee seems reasonable and the tutors have been excellent.”

“The first tutor only came and thaught may son for 4 weeks and left. The 2nd tutor informed me after his 1st lesson that he will not be available after 3 weeks. I paid total of £25 before I even met them and I hope that my money will not be wosted and I will be provided the length of the period that I required.”

Dear Safia, Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that you have experienced problems with your tutor but you didn't contact us about this so were unable to help. We have a set procedure to follow when a tutor lets you down in some way. I have now sent you an email with instructions on how to find another tutor at no further cost. “I was impressed with the quality and prices of the tutors. However, I was looking for a tutor in the Capalaba Brisbane Queensland area and was lead to believe my tutor was in that area when in fact after accepting and paying my money found that she lived in Victoria. This makes it impossible for me to have a real face to face lesson which I was hoping to get.”

“I found a good tutor Iso that was extremely positive. However the cost of £20 I believe is too high and I wasn't made aware of the fee until the last minute. This is disappointing.”

We do offer a range of tutors with introduction fees from £4.99-24.99 to suit all budgets. This fee is related to the price a tutor charges per hour and covers the cost of security checks including gathering independent references, verifying photo ID and ensuring the tutor resides in the UK. I do apologise that you felt the introduction fee was sprung upon you at the end. We do state it at the top of all requests, under 'How to find a tutor' and in several of our emails prior to payment. “Good site with lots of tutors easy to use and tutors respond rapidly but a nasty shock when you realise you have to pay £25 to the site to release the tutors details. Could be much more up front about the cost. Unless you see the small tab on the front page, it's not obvious that there's a charge until you've spoken to a tutor at length, agreed that theyre who you're looking for and it feels you've committed to having them.”

“The First Tutors website was very easy to use. The tutors profiles were very clear and made it easy to match my requirements with a Tutor. In turn tutors that I contacted came back very quickly to say if they could tutor me or not. A very quick effective system.”

“I liked being able to about to read each tutor profile. I liked the quick response I got from lots of people. The part I didn’t feel comfortable with was, when I suddenly couldn’t talk to my chosen tutor when we were exchanging personal contact information (addresses and email). I panicked, and paid £19.99 to get to talk to her, and it confused me saying I could have an online session for the £19.99. I paid it anyway not really knowing if I was doing the right thing. After this payment, I was able to resume my talks with my new tutor. Luckily my chosen tutor explained to me that I had to ‘pay’ to release the personal information. I feel that this confused me, and almost made me lose all the trust I had built up with my new tutor. She had kindly been discussing my needs probably over 10 emails and we were really getting somewhere because my situation is a bit difficult. A prompt service, but you need to be more transparent about the £19.99 cost which is clearly going to First Tutors and not the tutor you have chosen.”

“Lack of Police vetting of tutors is a big issue and concern to me as a parent. Having said that, I don't have problem about the tutor I got for my daughter after I met him on the first day of the grind; they're both students of same University.”
