“Very easy to find the site and to get around. A great opportunity to express who I was as a potential student and to read what the tutor had written. However think that not altogether clear instructions on getting to how to pay once we had connected. But then the tutor explained I pay him.”

“The overall website could be a bit improved, particularly the section where you want to see your requests, but generally a great way to find local teachers. Only one session with Emma so far, but it’s been great!”

“The first lesson went well. We covered all the basic points regarding breathing exercises and practiced generating different sounds using scales. Sara made me very comfortable and was very supportive what I would describe as an excellent start.”

“Dan responded quickly to our request and has been in touch with us about arranging the session very promptly. He offered a presession call to evaluate my son's knowledge and interest which was helpful. My son has enjoyed the first lesson,found it vey helpful and engaged well.”

“Worked for me. Able to find a piano teacher ideally suited to my needs. Inevitably, First Tutors took a fee for their services - it would have been helpful to know this before getting towards the end of the finder process. But I suppose that’s business, and I’m pleased with the outcome.”

“First Tutors is a good organisation, and the website is relatively straightforward. My only word of caution to customers is to make sure you have a definitive, agreed plan with the tutor before you pay the commission fee to First Tutors. I chose a different tutor in the first instance; we decided on a strategy, and then the tutor didn't think our arrangement would suit them. I lost 29.00 pounds and had to pay another 29.00 to secure a tutor that is definitely, available. Customers beware! You could spend a small fortune trying to find a tutor who doesn't honour their commitment, and the customer bears the cost. First Tutors could protect customers if a tutor cancels after saying yes by not charging the customer another 29.00 to find another tutor. First Tutors could invoice the initial tutor for the 29.00 and be reimbursed. If a tutor states they are available, and then they don't reply to the customer and cause confusion because an appointment isn't able to be made, then it is unfair for the customer to pay the First Tutor's commission. I could not receive final confirmation from the first tutor about the first appointment simply due to them not telling me if they had received the address we were to meet. It was very frustrating, and I am not happy I had to pay nearly 60.00 to sort out one tutor to work with our child. I am sure nobody meant to confuse anybody else, but the business model needs tweaking.”
