“A good, well organised site. Regular emails keeping me upto date with tutors I was interested in. There should be a photo of each tutor so you know who is come into your home. Would recommend.”

“I paid 19.99 for an introductory fee - it's too expensive. I would not recommend this service - it is not value for money.”

We do believe First Tutors: Ireland is competitively priced as the average agency charges €10.00 on top of every hour of grinds. Our introduction fee is a one-off payment that covers the costs of security checks on all tutors for the safety and peace of mind of all parties. “The system is very easy to use, and I like the ability to shortlist tutors that may suit our needs. This is our second time using the website. This time, It was frustrating that two of the three we shortlisted had no availability at all, despite showing as available on their profile. This wasted time. The third has just started working with my son, but seems very good.”

We do ask tutors with no availability to 'switch off' their profiles so they are not listed on our results. We're sorry to hear that two of your shortlisted tutors had failed to do so. “While we found a very good tutor through First Tutors the website was quite confusing. Returning to it once the first log in was complete was difficult initially and I found myself returning to the first confirmation email over and over again to ensure I didn't start a new search every time I visited. Trying to find a tutor within an easy driving distance was also a little painful. My daughter is at college In Hastings but I couldn't search for Hastings based tutors because the website thought I was too far away from them. The pricing system was also confusing. I thought that the £24.99 I paid was for the first lesson so was very surprised when the tutor, quite innocently, asked me for the money again. As it is, I am very happy with the tutor we found through the First Tutors website so I recommend persevering with the website. The tutors that contacted me were all very pleasant and helpful. So it does work - it's just very confusing!”

“Whilst the need for sparse information at first is sensible when you want to extract an introductory fee, it's also frustrating for the one who is searching for a pianist. Have yet to meet Fiona.”

“FirstTutors helped me get a reasonably priced maths tutor. You only pay a fee based on the tutor price per hour, so I paid 15 quid. There are other tutoring sites that charge 25% extra on top of the tutors fee PER hour tuition which totally takes the p155. Anyway, very good service.”

“Good service, the only difficulty was that I was arranging tuition as a gift for my daughter who lives in a different area, and the site was recommending tutors in my area. Got there in the end, but would have been five stars had this been more straightforward.”

“The website is very easy to use, the search tool is very helpful. I was looking for a tutor for English as foreign language and the website helped me to find exactly what I needed. I was able to check the qualifications, the feedback, someone near my location, but mostly I was interested in the information about the Native Language of the tutor, because I was seeking for Native English Speakers because I am trying to improve my accent so this information was very importante to me at that moment.”
