“Quite expensive price to put me in contact with a local tutor. Although seen as I was struggling on my own, I'd say it was worth it. Frustrating that the price you pay to share contact details isn't a standardised price but is a reflection of the tutors costs. Lacked transparency a bit, as if I wasn't already invested in my tutor and liked her, then I probably would have gone elsewhere because of the price. Website works fine. Clear and easy to use.”

“À total scan. Or completely exploits you, charging me £15 just to be able to communicate with the tutor. None of that money goes to the tutor , it is completely disgraceful. There are other sites where the tutor pays one fee to advertise and that is it. This site must be making so much money if every prospective student has to pay for a potential tutor ...just to see the details.”

Only when you have found your preferred tutor do we ask for a one off fee to receive their contact details. Our fee's help cover the cost of identity and reference checks on all of our tutors which offers peace of mind to our clients. “I wanted a Spanish tutor for my son and didn't know of any companies or sites. I put into Google "Spanish tutor in my area" and 3 days later my son was sat at the table with a fabulous tutor who only lived 2 miles away. I think the First Tutor fees should be stated on their Home Page rather than seeing them a few steps down the line, just so that this cost can be factored in immediately, but other than that it was straightforward and seamless, I'm very happy.”

“A good service that successfully put us in touch with a local tutor. The only reason I haven't given a 'very good' is because the online process from my smart phone wasn't always clear. My selected tutor seemed to 'disappear' after I had sent a request meaning I couldn't recheck his profile.”

“Have got 2 ongoing tutors for "A-levels" as our daughter needs to improve one poorly taught subject and maintain another as she requires 3A's. The 2 tutors found by your company seem to be very good / exceptional , however it is early days, but so far so good.”

“Hi, This review is nothing to do with the Tutor but more the system. I was looking for a painting tutor and eventually found one. The closest one was 25 miles away which wasn't ideal but I thought it would have to do. However, once I had paid the £14.99 fee to connect, the tutor advised me that she felt that I was of a standard that she couldn't help me as such. She kindly answered a lot of questions over email and was willing to give lessons but she felt I didn't need them with her. So all I am suggesting is maybe this is something that should be ascertained before you take £14.99 of people. Regards James”

“I was impressed with my dealings of First Tutors. We are not having our first lesson until the New Year but I have been in contact with the Tutor and arranged a dateetc everything went very smoothly.”
