“I recently used First Tutors to locate a maths tutor for my son. The system was easy to use. It was good to be able to see which tutors the company had already reviewed the qualification certificates for and which they hadn’t. Tutor fees are presented up front which is great for transparency Only recommendation is that the fees for placing a tutor with a student are also shown clearly upfront. In my case the fee was £25 which was acceptable but should have been very evident when opening a user account.”

“Not clear enough information about the fees that First Tutors charge to find you a tutor - was a bit shocked when I paid a fee only to be told that was for their finders fee and not the tutors fee.”

Information surrounding our fees and how our business model works is displayed on our home page, on the about us page, on the help pages and also in our Terms & Conditions. We operate as a tuition agency and the fee you have paid is the agency fee to receive your tutors contact details. This fee helps cover the cost of our identity and reference checks on all registered tutors as well as business running costs. “I was looking for a safe solution for tutoring, and also a convenient one. As we now have a better internet connection (a necessity), I suddenly realised that I could look for online tutors. I had never heard of First Tutors, but found them after looking at several other sites. I found the reviews very helpful, in addition to the background information about the tutors. With this information, we actually went for the tutor who would best suit my child. She was incredibly organised and so far we have had a very successful first session, and my son feels very comfortable about being tutored in his own home, using technology (like Skype) that he hasn't used before.”

“This was an easy service to locate and use, they were quick to respond and follow up after each stage. My only criticism is that it is not clear when you first use the tutor agent that they require you to pay commission for their service, only finding this out at the very end after making arrangements for the tutoring. They could of charged me anything, luckily it was £25.00”

“I found the website easy to use, with a choice of tutors and the information supplied was helpful in making a choice of tutor. Although the initial communication through the website was not as easy as sending an email directly, I understand the reason for this approach initially. Once we had arranged to meet with the tutor we were able to communicate directly, which was easier.”

“A very accessible, simple and effective way to find a tutor; I previously tried other (word-of-mouth and online) and got nowhere. With First Tutors I found three or four good tutors within 24 hours. Great stuff.”

“Site very easy to use, plenty of choice of tutors in local area. I found Paul for my son to help with his Maths. Paul is very professional and makes Maths fun to learn for my son. My son looks forward to his weekly lessons. And although we have only had a few lessons my sons maths has improved.”
