“Clare tutor let me down a day before I was meant to see her ..... I sent her the worksheet to read to help me. She canceled so now I have no help with assignment... Upset and extremely angry.”

“I believe that first tutors is a great way to source tutors but have found that it could be very costly if the tutor is not suitable or doesn't make contact after paying the induction fee. Contact details aren't provided until this induction fee is paid therefore you are only able to communicate via email and the language barrier has been a problem. First tutors have though agreed to offer the next induction fee free”

“Mr George is welcoming and friendly also engaging and confident on our first meeting. We managed to get a plan of the actions and goals to achieve. However on the first lesson my son found the desk where Mr George is teaching is not quite suitable for teaching a student and particularly the desk is too small that my son struggled to fit his note book to write note. Nevertheless I raised the concern with the tutor and he said, 'Unfortunately it is not much i can do unless I sit beside to give Daniel more room.' I am as a paying customer not happy with the sitting arrangements because it makes complicated to concentrate on studies. We are still looking into it and may have to look for a different tutor in the future.”

“Really disappointed that I was charged £29 to register with you as it was not explained very well. I turned up at the tutors house thinking I had already paid for the 1st session not realising that it was a registering fee to join 1st tutors. The process to book a tutor was not very clear and it would have been helpful to pay the money online to the tutor direct.”

Dear Linda, Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you missed that there is an introduction fee payable to receive the contact details of your chosen tutor. This fee is displayed on the homepage and also in the header of the request. The introduction fee covers the cost of identification and reference checks on all our registered tutors, which allows students and families to chose with confidence. “This is a review of First Tutors and not the actual Tutors. I have paid an induction fee twice now totalling £40 just to have the tutors contact details released to me. The first tutor only turned up twice before informing us his personal circumstances had changed. The 2nd tutor arrived and we immediately realised there would be problem as none of us could understand her. We were aware she was Spanish but if we were able to speak before over the phone this problem would have been apparent. I understand the need for a fee to First Tutors but should there be some guidelines for example what if the tutor never makes contact at all. This could become very expensive trying to find suitable tutor.I have emailed First Tutors but there is no information regarding this situation”

“I would definitely recommend anyone to use First Tutors website it’s quick and easy to register and gives you reassurance and lots of information and plenty of ads to look through on all different types of tutors and what they have to offer. I feel it’s an honest and very helpful website too!”
