My Dad bought me a vintage Chanel handbag for my birthday and we paid furnitureclinic in Gateshead to restore it based on their pictures on the website and also a conversation with one of the people who works there performing the restoration work. We were promised it would look almost new again, and we had to pay upfront (£200) before the work was done. Months passed and the bag still was not ready for collection. My Dad kept calling and getting palmed off with excuses. Well when the time came to go and collect the bag what a horrible shock... It had been ruined, coated in a plastic like substance with a terrible uneven finish. The coating started to peel off after a few months. I was heartbroken - this had been my dream bag for years and furniture clinic ruined it, and I had to pay for the privilege. It has taken me a while to write this review as it still hurts to think I was so stupid to pay this company to ruin my dream bag. I would not recommend entrusting any valuable handbags to furniture clinic unless you are prepared to risk them coming back looking and feeling like cheap plastic.

I cannot write a full review of this company as it would be far too long, so I am listing each event with my experience with this company. * Had problems ordering on french website so had to do it by phone which took ages * Received no tracking number and eventually they told me my order was held at a parcel centre awaiting me to call for "clearing customs purposes". There was in fact no telephone number on order so couldn't make delivery. * Order received and items missing * Checked receipt and was totalled incorrectly and had been overcharged by 107 euros. * Asked for a new tracking number for replacement parts, given wrong number. It was in fact the old tracking number. * They didn't call back with new number so had to call them after the weekend. * Refund took a week to be seen in my account then it was under by 12 euros * Had to phone them again to get further refund * Still waiting for replacement items to arrive *Numerous failures to reply to emails and phone calls. In short this company is a disgrace and cannot blame alone the set up of their new French website. I have not even started using the items yet. I hope they are heaps better than their customer service! This is not just down to one individual but seems to be whomever you speak to. They are very blunt on the phone and clearly do not care about the amount of errors they are making in their job. I am not sure who is running this company or indeed if they are fully aware of this transaction but it really is shocking customer service.

Hi, Sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the Leather Care Kit you purchased. In your review you state that you were using the kit to try and remove a stain from the leather, is this correct? The Leather Ultra Clean used in the kit is formulated as a cleaner used to remove the build up of dirt and grime leather inevitably gets with day to day use. It is not designed for use as a powerful stain remover, to remove stubborn stains you would require a specialist product like our Leather Stain Remover, or one of the other products from the 'Ink and Stain Removers' section of our website. Firstly i didnt recieve the product when i made an enquiry it took you almost 2 weeks to resolve a simple refund. Wasnt happy.

Hi, Thanks for getting in touch. Looking at the notes for your order, it seems the initial issue was that, when the order was placed online, the wrong delivery address was entered. By the time we had been informed, your order had already been dispatched. In rare cases such as this, where the fault lies with customer provided information and the request comes in after the order is dispatched, it is our policy to wait for it to be returned before issuing a refund. Ordered my leather cleaning kit 8 days ago and still haven't received anything. Their website says that free delivery takes 3 days, and it was on that basis I ordered over £35 worth of products. When I rang them after three days they said 'Ah, actually it's 3-5 days'. When I rang again on the 5th day, I was told it could take up to 10 days, and they wouldn't be able to help me before then. What really annoyed me was their absolute stoic indifference - no attempt to apologise, no investigation of other actions that could help me get the goods I ordered quicker, just 'Oh we have to wait ten days for Royal Mail before we can do anything'. They need to take a long hard look at their fulfillment process and how they handle customer complaints - I for one won't be shopping there again.

Bitterly disappointed, I specifically searched for an aniline leather cleaner and de greaser. I paid over £40 and got 2 products which ONLY THEN warned that they could lift the colour off my furniture - although they did then offer another product which could restore it!!!! Luckily I tried both products on small out of the way areas - they both had no impact on grease or stains but both totally lifted the colour and finish from my chair. Thank God I was cautious and didn't cover all the problem areas. This product does NOT work on aniline leather, it is far to aggressive and makes problem areas much worse.

We are sorry that you were not satisfied with the products you purchased. The Leather Degreaser is a powerful degreasing agent for leather and will likely remove some colour (which can be easily replaced) from the leather as it is being used. This is normal and is stated on both the product label and on the instructions section of the website, so full information is available before purchase and use. With particularly stubborn grease it often takes several applications to remove the grease from the leather, this is potentially why using a small amount on an unseen area may not have removed it all on first attempt. This, again, is quite normal and detailed on the website and product label. The process is a little more in depth, needing to degrease several times and then replace colour with another product, than some are comfortable with. But as of yet there is no product on the market capable of both removing grease and replacing colour in a single application, this is why when you made contact you were offered a second product to replace the colour. The Leather Ultra Clean you purchased is a general leather cleaner and not suitable for removing staining from leather, a specialist leather stain remover (available under the 'Ink & Stain Removers' category on the website), should be used for this. This is likely the reason why the Ultra Clean did not remove the stains. We are sorry that you are unhappy, but would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with you. I brought the entire leather interior of my 60's classic car for re-coloring to the Welsh branch of Furniture Clinic near Cardiff. In spite of my appointment the manager was not there. They promised to have it done in 5 weeks, but, after much pressure from me, it was finally done after 8 weeks and I missed an important rally with the car. We had agreed on GBP 750 but in the end I paid GBP 1000. The job itself seemed to be allright, although the color was different from what I had given them and I noticed later that the passenger seat had not been properly colored; I had to do that again at extra cost. They did not make a new leather gear-shift gaiter as was agreed and I also never got the original ring back which holds it to the gearbox, so I had to make a new one. They never answered my emails and telephone contact with the manager was problematic to say the least. NEVER AGAIN.

I purchased a colour kit. Changed my mind about the colour ,phoned to tell you. Returned the colour by carrier. It was signed for at your end but you had no record. I phoned and was told to take it up with my carrier. Guess what. They said it was the correct address and signed for. No colour,no joy. Shame.

Still waiting for it to arrive!! Have been told I have to wait 9 working days since day of despatch and that's not until next week. Payment however went straight out of my account. I've got a tenant moving in next week and needed to clean the sofa and chairs before this so very unhappy. Would definitely not use Furniture Clinic again.

On checking your order details it seems that your goods were despatched on the next working day following your online order. Your chosen method of postage was Royal Mail 2nd class, Royal Mail stipulate that we must wait up to 10 days after despatch date before further action can be taken on packages that do not arrive within the normal timescales. Our cleaner is highly effective and very popular for general cleaning, the removal of dirt, grime and some light staining, but is not suited to the removal of stubborn staining. Very disappointed with this product, I had a small mark on the back of my BMW driving seat, which I think is the result of the seat belts, although the car is only 5 years old, I am sorry to say this has had no impression on the mark, no visable improvement on the seating area either.

Hello Ms. Stein, We are truely sorry to hear that you did not achieve the result expected with your products. On the rare occasion that customers inform us that the Leather Re-Colouring Balm has not worked as expected it is often down to the type of leather it is being used on. The balm is only used to restore the colour to absorbent leathers (see our website or instructions on the pot to test this), if your leather is not absorbent then the balm can not sink into the leather and the colour will not hold. As your order also included a leather repair kit, we assume that you must have been trying to repair damage as well as restore colour. The Balm is also not designed to colour over the fillers used in the Leather Repair Kit. In order to restore colour to a non-absorbent leather, or to apply colour to a repair, you require a Leather Repair Touch Up Kit (For areas smaller than a tennis ball in size) or a Leather Colourant Kit (For areas larger than a tennis ball). The guide pages on our website or video guides on youtube may be of use here, as we have multiple guides showing how to repair and restore leather items using these kits. In all instances where customers have mistakenly purchased the Leather Recolouring Balm to restore non-absorbent leathers or to carry out repairs, we operate a return and refund policy, where we will accept the Balm back and provide a refund or the value of the Balm off the correct product for the job.
