Iv just spoken with Animal friends as my dog passed away at the weekend I was disgusted with their approach to how much useless information they required from not only my usual vet but the vet who came to my home to put my poor dog to sleep he was so poorly. I had been with this company for years and the premiums were expensive 52.00 per month ! Don’t bother pet owners they make it impossible to make a small claim when you are desperately upset.

They didn't pay for emergency treatment saying the dog was not in pain with a ear infection and a preferred ear drums . And this year they have increased from £19.05 to 45.12 So it's a Goodbye from me they are first class rubbers

I have been trying to get £350 after years of no claims and insurance, and they have now claimed my cats recent issues are "pre-existing" from oct. 2018, 2 months after my cat was born. My vet records didn't show the issue until over 1 month after I got insurance with them, back in 2021. Even then I didn't claim, now it's gotten so bad that he's been in and out of the vets for check ups, experimental food trials, and now what could be long-term medicine if it works. If it doesn't, I will have to front the costs myself as they will continue to claim it was "pre-exisiting" when asked for evidence that this condition was shown back then (as I've searched through his previous vets history), they have declined to send evidence and offered "if the vets could send additional information amd evidence" the claim *could* be overturned. I'm so disappointed as I've been a customer for years now, and when I finally actually need their help financially, they skirt their responsibilities. Awaiting a response now but depending on how that goes, will be in contact with an insurance ombudsman. Just ridiculous.

Stay away. Sorry to say they are another dodgy insurance company that destroys customers when in need. Loyalty only goes so far until you try to make a claim after paying to them each month. They did everything possible to prevent paying and even tried blaming us! Complaint department was very rude and did not want to know. Now with county court…..

Nobody answers, live chat gets cut off, not good service at all when your pet is in pain. Really disgraceful service.

No stars!! Uncaring and unsympathetic. Increase without making it clear. Devious.

They do not adhere to their own policies and make it up and close ranks. Go elsewhere.

Thieves. My premiums went up from £23 a month to £56 without warning. Simply because my dog is 10 and I've been claiming for arthritis, libella injections. I expect some increase but this.is beyond a joke. DO NOT USE THEM

I've read the poor reviews on here and I am sorry for the negative experiences. My own experience is different, our boy, George, an eleven year old Bichon Frisé, snapped a cruciate ligament earlier this year, we were devastated when we were told the cost of putting him right and frankly didn't know how we were going to mend him. Although there was considerable cost to us the insurance paid 80% of the bill, the vets were brilliant liaising directly with the insurance via their portal and left us to concentrate on George and not worry about dealing with admin issues. I have given 3 stars, I would have given more but there was an issue which irritated me. and that was was the fact that in eleven years we had never claimed, but because George is getting older, they load the payments, hence my contribution of over £1000. George is obviously worth every penny but I did feel that we were being penalized because of his age.

Was with you for over 11 years with my two cats. Never made a claim when my first cat had to be put down. I paid the whole bill. Then my second cat due to age had to be put down. Treatment and euthanasia bill was very expensive. By the time l paid excess and twenty percent of treatment l had £40 or so back. Loyalty doesn't pay.

They sent me an email saying it was time to renew. Logging on to my account as advised there were no policies found.....I still have over three weeks left before the renewal date! Looking deeper into the site I found the word "cancelled" by my current policy. What??? Having previously emailed them over two weeks ago and had no response I tried to ring them for an explanation, but after listening to irritating music for over 7 minutes I gave up. Working from home, I guess. So it seems my dog was not even covered after I paid last year's premium. Don't touch them! Crooks.

We were paying £39 a month for our dog during 2023 to 2024, double the price for the previous year and for renewing for the 2024 to 2025 year they want £85!!!!!!!!!! Greedy. Have cancelled the policy renewal. Very sad.

Would give zero stars if I could, recently lost my beloved dog and declined my claim 1st time claiming as well, happy to take your money every month but when you need help they don't want to know I would avoid using this company.

Avoid like the plague paid for 3 years, constantly upping the premium, when cat was run over they would not pay a % as they said i had agreed like a car it was worth nothing, I had sent them the cost of cat and on every renewal, they said i had put zero value, i sent them the proof of cost, this has took 3 months after keep asking for proof and i kept sending, Do not use them unless you are very precise in your dealings

Animal Friends has insured my Goldendoodle since she was a puppy. We opted for Animal Friends because of their founding ethos about contributing to charities and the fact that AF had a 25-year track record offering affordable pet insurance coverage with exceptional customer service. However, in May, when my premium was up for renewal, AF raised it from £43.75 to £91.87, an increase of nearly 110%. What’s more, the only notification of such a massive rise was an email. Our original premium when we joined in 2020 was £24.60 — the new fee is a 248% increase. My dog was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat two years ago, and the premium rose last year, as I expected. But this year's rise smacks of profiteering.
