Great that insurance isn't too expensive. My drivers app has stopped working today, the call centre closes at 6 which is ridiculous! The readings are so confusing, for the whole week you'll be in the green and then the last few days they will mark you down and so you end up in the orange. Even the red on one occasion when I hadn't even driven my car! The call centre staff have been completely unhelpful, one saying they don't know what's wrong with the app but bear with it! I can't afford to have my policy cancelled. Would not recommend this company at all!

Was fine to begin with. The Black box was fitted promptly and emails with any queries were answered within 1-2 days. However, as time went on, nearer the end of the first quarter, I started noticing inaccurate readings. I was scored -10 for speed when driving within the speed limit. I went for a 10 minute drive locally, when I got home, my driving score for that particular journey was 10/10. When checking before bed it had gone down and said that I went for a 4 AND A HALF HOUR JOURNEY!!! I was in my house the whole entire time. I emailed for this to be resolved, no reply. I then noticed the next day, my driving score was 7, this then went down to 5 somehow. When looking at this I then noticed that I had been scored a -7 for speed and 4 for usage for a journey I DIDN'T EVEN MAKE. I think this is ridiculous. How am I supposed to trust any of the other scores? If I was driving badly, this insurance company would be quick enough to take my money and cancel my policy. Because they are the ones who are liable for this, they refuse to answer me or resolve the problem even when I have emailed twice. I REFUSE TO RENEW MY POLICY WHEN IT FINISHES.

Absolutely awful. It's a scam. Don't do it. They robbed my money and cancelled my insurance for no reason and I didn't get my money back. Don't go with carrot!!

When finding a quote for my insurence Carrot was the cheapest quote. I'm glad I picked to be with carrot insurance as the customer service team are very friendly the black box was fitted easily the carrot app is great and km earninggreat rewards I love it. Everything about carrot is amazing best insurence team ever. :) very happy x

Was the cheapest quote for me. Black box fitted easily and driving score app is a really good way of keeping up to date with how my driving is. The 'carrot card' is a nice touch although I am yet to receive mine. Would recommend Carrot Insurance to others.

All went well at the start, documents sent, box installed hey presto I’m on the road ! After just a week the APP stopped updating – several calls & e mails to the support department for help – 4 weeks later still the box isn’t working. Not a problem as such but how will they work out the rewards ??? Reading some of the other reviews I was not aware of any night time curfew – I’m sure I read something before taking out the policy that there was no restriction. Customer service could be improved significantly There should also be an agreement that whoever is paying for the insurance (normally the parent as it cost so much for new drivers) should be allowed to discuss any concerns with the company.

Im very happy with my sons insurance and will be definitely recommending you to his friends who as him are new young drivers, I would like to speak to some one soon as I don't really understand why he keeps loosing points on usage as we live in a small village which is only a 10 min drive to our local town where he goes to college and most places are not that far away so I dont think its fair that he is penalized for that, he has all 10's for his speed and smoothness but keeps being knocked down for his usage, it seems unfair

I like how they keep you update with the app to tell me how well I have been driving and keeping me update with any new information and the cheapness of the insurance as i am in my first year of driving and working this has helped me a lot with allowing me to continue driving.

Took out the insurance for my son at Christmas. Not made aware of him being 'penalised' for night-time driving, which he does the most of. Not had carrot awards yet but, because of a delay in the process, my son has received a pizza voucher as a goodwill gesture. Would like the app to tell us a bit more about why they have been marked down on their driving and the scoring on it does not seem consistent from one day to the next. I have had no reason to contact the call centre yet and, looking at others feedback, I hope I don't have to!

Liked how easy and quick the I-box engineer came out and fitted it for me, however I thought there was no curfew...well I start work in 4pm and finish 12 am and it's not penalising me but rewarding me around 4,5 ish and when I finish I get "-" for usage at night what's wrong there? However overall definetly 5 stars as your customer service is outstanding :)

I have insured my car in December 2015, it is my first insurance taken, as i am 22 years Old. Black box is fitted into my car and phone communication to make an appointment to fit it into was pretty easy and flexible. I get my first quarter reward, it is motivating. Thanks, Adam

Was very good service and if i ever had a problem with my insurance then the customer service team were easy to get hold off and there was no messing round they were straight to the point and very useful.

I found that everything has been super strait forward and I love checking my score after every drive! Not only does it fill me with confidence that i'm driving well it also encourages me to drive well to earn more money! Fantastic its win win! :-)

my son has a policy with you and we have had constant problems from day one which is down to lack of communication on your behalf . I myself work in car insurance and have had so much stress of recent due to your agents sending wrong docs , emailing me with threats of canceling the policy due to documents required when we;ve already sent. constantly having to ring you in my lunch breaks at work because of silly errors which have been constant not only is this my time but money too my phone bills are horrendous having to keep calling you . The hours your open are ridiculous we have to work shifts which revolve around a pattern 8am to 9pm also full days Saturdays and Sundays to a rota , this is a way forward for you . something has to be sorted to make Carrot a name to remember.

Ensured my son for his Saxo VTR. By far the cheapest insurance and every step from fitting the black box to organizing the cover has been excellent. I particularly like the app on my phone so I can monitor his driving and the fact that if he drives carefully I will actually get money back and hopefully he will also earn cheaper insurance next year but obviously only time will tell. All the team I have spoken to have been polite and helpful so far and I would recommend Carrot for any new driver. Thank you!

I am fast approaching the end of my first year of driving and I have to say, Carrot Insurance have not made this new experience pleasant or easy. The staff are all lovely and helpful so I can not fault them. However, expect to wait on hold for up to and in excess of half an hour to be connected to their call centre. They also have restricted opening hours which means for people like myself who work 8-5, and commute for an hour either way, it is almost impossible to speak to a human, rather than a computerised, automated message. The prices for top up miles I also find extortionate. The company is aimed at new drivers - typically I assume 17-20 (approx.) I am an apprentice so am already struggling to pay the £1400 policy, without then requiring to pay out almost £300 on top of that for excess miles! When I had exceeded the miles, I was not notified by text or email, or a phone call I was simply sent a letter giving me 7 days before they'll cancel the policy. I may well have had an email but I am none the wiser as I have called 3 times to have my email changed over, yet it still hasn't been. Super upset and disappointed by my entire experience. Despite the intial upfront price sounding promising, I have been charged extra meaning I could have afforded a non-telematics policy! Poor way to run a company.

Carrot Insurance is very good insurance and cheaper than all of the others I searched for. The rewards are a very good incentive to drive well. You don't lose points too easily. You'd have to drive quite bad to get a low score. The one reason it is 4 star and not 5 star, is the measuring of usage for the points e.g. it lowers the score for driving multiple times within a short period of time. Carrot also advertised "no curfews", however when I drove later than 11pm my usage score went low for that drive. They are advertising no curfews, but penalised me for this. My box has stopped working after 4 months. It registered two motorway journeys as 8 separate journeys giving low scores and then gave up registering anything. Surprisingly when phoning up to inform of this problem the phone was answered quickly (previously had very long waiting times), but I am still waiting a week later for the company who installs the ibox to contact me. So I now have a lower score due to incorrect driving details, which I have been assured will be corrected. Time will tell.
