“I wanted to have fully comprehensive car insurance when travelling abroad. When I queried this I was told through live chat that the cover was only the minimum compulsory insurance and that I could upgrade. I then had to get new insurance that did have this cover. When cancelling through the live chat I was corrected saying that I was full cover. I stuck with the most recent insurer and had to pay £57 to cancel my kwik fit insurance. This is find unacceptable as through no fault of my own I was given false information. £57 that I think I deserve back. I would like to be contacted on this matter. Screen shots below”
“Awful. Do not insure with Kwikfit. Scammers and telephone staff have attitude and have no empathy.
My car was written off, it wasn’t my fault and I still had to pay them to cancel the insurance that no longer existed.
They are slow to manage. My car wasn’t even assessed in person, just by dark photos and written off. They wanted £6,000 to buy it back.
I WILL NEVER USE ANY KWIKFIT SERVICES AGAIN!”
“Trying to intimidate with threatening letters and emails . I needed a car and insurance in a hurry as I was away from home and needed a car . The quote was over £150 more than I currently pay. My son set it up so didn’t have details of an incident that took place in 2025 . Being treated like a fraud instead of trying to understand the situation. Being held to ransom as he had already paid .”
“Avoid!!!! If you don't cancel they will automatically renew your policy. If you cancel they will charge you a penalty. They deliberately have this policy so they automatically take you money.Than there staff is rude.Pay extra but keep away”
“I had a very disappointing experience with this Kwik Fit Insurance.
I completed an online insurance application, but the website indicated that the payment had not gone through and that I needed to contact customer services to proceed. When I contacted customer services, the process took a long time and I was asked to provide information that I had already entered online. Due to this poor experience, I clearly informed them that I no longer wished to continue and arranged insurance with another provider.
What is particularly concerning is that I never received any confirmation that payment had been successful, nor was I aware that a policy had been activated. Despite this, payment was later taken from my bank account and a Direct Debit was set up without my knowledge. I only discovered this after checking my bank account.
I find it very strange that a policy could be started when the website indicated that payment had failed and no payment confirmation was provided. When I contacted the company, they insisted that the policy had been purchased online and informed me that I would be charged a £30 cancellation fee.
The whole experience has been frustrating, confusing, and time-consuming. I believe the process lacks transparency and has been handled unfairly. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this insurer.”
“I’m very unhappy with the service I received today. I requested to switch my car insurance to my other vehicle, and despite this being a simple and urgent change, it still has not been completed. This delay has caused me stress, inconvenience, and unnecessary frustration. I expected a much faster response and better communication from your company. Having to wait so long for such a basic policy update is unacceptable. Your customer service has been disappointing, and I feel let down as a customer. Please improve your response times and the way you handle important policy changes.”
“Absolutely a waste of time and money. Spend a few hours sending dvla permissions despite giving my drivers lucence number and putting all the data on the comparison site. I got fed up of their nonsense and cancelled was charged £59 for 10 days cover. Avoid them like the plague”
“Awful insurance company! Absolutely horrid to deal with. Cancelled my policy within 7 days and then charged me £45 in fees so in effect I paid for 2 months cover and got 7 days! Don't bother even calling the customer services, they shoddy and won't do anything! AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE!”
“Taken out insurance, received correspondence late requesting driving licence. Insurance policy cancelled, WAS CHARGED £20 ADMIN, asked to speak to manager and had phone put down on me. Whilst I understand the issue. not great service”
“Awful experience as the automatically renewed my plan and took payment even though I have cancel the plan and DD. Charged me cancelation fee on top of the payment which I already made. No refund has been proceed either. !!!!”
“Delayed everything awful service accident not even my fault…. Never insure with this company again. No one to one service. No direct case handler you will have to talk to different person every time.. dragging and draining service.”
“Unclear information during quote, resulting in additional charges. Aended details not saved. Welcome email not received. Awful & slow customer service.”
“Wife accidentally cancelled DD. Rang back immediately to sort out with customer services. Took payment and assured her all was sorted out. A month later, cancellation letter arrives. Going round in circles trying to find complain details and get it sorted. Utterly useless would NOT recommend to anyone. Their staff are incompetent and useless and it's a struggle getting through to the right people for anything. Business trainwreck.”
“Second insurance company in a week that has threatened to cancel my insure because my drivers licence with my name & address on it was not enough proof of where I am living.
at least these sent me a email unlike nutshell insurance who just cancelled it.
probably thousands & thousands of people insured who live in a rented room etc with no bills & I guarantee they did not have to provide all this stuff.
Just straight up Discrimination. Just because I don't own or rent my a way over priced home I cant insure my car.
Insurance companies are bigger crooks than politicians. Charged £30 to cancel after only having the policy for like 4 days & it was not even active.
Also there letter to threatening to cancel my insurance came immediately after I just signed there credit agreement. Crooks”
“Absolutely useless money mindedness.
I purchased a car insurance online and cancelled it within some 7 days. They decided to charge me £30 because I didn’t want to have their service.
They accused me for not providing the correct and honest information, which is a big lie. I provided all the information required stating that the named driver had an accident last year which wasn’t her fault. They made a big thing of it and wanted to increase the premium significantly and that way make more money. Absolutely not reliable company. I’m making a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.”
“my renewal went from 30 to 54 ppound to 94 pound a month as im 42 years old full no claitims never been in an accident no even a speeding ticket ever anyway my renewal letter was deliverd to next door house whitch is empty got it 3 weeks late could not do policy any cheaper nice cancel fee 69.00 on top of payments good day for kwickfit bad for me same car better policy from axa 28.90 a month not worth beighn loyal to them any more shame on them lost all my garage calls aswell not to mention not the best telephone maner not rude poor girl sounded badly trained in my opinion”
“Took out pet insurance last year - that was fine. But this year the renewal email went into my junk email so I missed it for a while. When I looked, the premium had increased hugely and they had also increased the excess from £60 to £60 plus 15% of any costs. I had not asked for auto renewal but they renewed it anyway. I tried to cancel 2 days after renewal, well within the 14 day period, but have been charged a £30 "admin" fee. This was hidden in the T&Cs so my fault but I'm still annoyed... thankfully saved nearly £15 per month, better cover, better excess with 4Paws.”
“Automatic renewal cannot be stopped as the name on the policy is my wife's maiden name. I am not considered the policy holder and cannot cancel renewal.
Renewal price is 31% higher than last year without any claim.
Avoid at all costs.”
“After being a Kwik Fit insurance customer for 3 years. I contacted them regarding a change of car and mileage. I moved from a 1.6 to a 1.8, the make and model were the same. More substantially my expected annual mileage had doubled from 10,000 to 20,000miles. Kwik Fit wanted to charge me nearly GBP 300 per month!! The guy on the phone did not have an explanation for this, it was just 'how it is'. I did the right thing and changed insurers and am now paying very similar to what I was previously. I have since received a letter from Kwik Fit informing me that if I do not pay them the GBP owed, (as a result of cancelling the policy early) they will pass on my details to a debt collection agency.”
“Very poor...had a recent cat accident. The other party admitted liability, but when I came to renew with KWIK FIT, they went from £360 to £1200 per annum. They are greedy sharks...dont touch them.”
