Here's why to avoid this company, I took out insurance through MCE for a bike that I had decided to buy, I did this online but the very next morning when I went to get the bike it had been sold even though the seller said he would hold it for me. I contacted MCE straight away and was charged £64.00 cancellation fee on a £99.00 policy, the laws states that there is a fourteen day cooling off period and the insurer can only charge a small fee for the period of cover, MCE told me that the insurance cost was just 26p for one days cover, the rest is admin fees, anyway off to the ombudsman, for every complaint the ombudsman has to deal with MCE will have to fork out £250.00 so more fool them, I won't recommend their services nor will I ever insure with them again, quite honestly it's a rip off, all companies should act in a fair and reasonable manner not blatantly rip their customers off

I ma the third party. On Friday I was in an incident at 10:30 PM. The very next day my insurance was notified. Despite several phone calls to them, I have yet to even speak to the right department as when you go through to the 3rd party department (despite being given a 'direct line' for them which was actually the renewals number) you just get a recorded message asking you to email into the 3rd party team, without clarifying which 3rd (or third) they mean. Putting that to one side, it has taken daily phone calls for 4 days for them just to admit they can actually add the police report log number to their records. Still no contact regarding my repair, my version of events, reciept of my email (even automated) or any acknowledgment it's being dealt with. Even had an agent back track when they tried to say they were processing it as a non fault claim (biker undertook, through a bicycle lane, I have 4 witnesses + a police report advising rider error, my own insurance also said it was going down as their fault immediately). With all of the multiple times I've phoned up I have spoken to a total of 3 agents, across 6 phone calls. The combination of this and their shoddy service (poor IVR, poor customer manner, not having enough agents to even staff the phones as the 3rd party line has been taken down as they're so busy apparently etc) leads me to feel they are just a poor all round company. Soon I will be seeking legal action, as I have all the calls on my phone recorded and a record of the email I sent on my outbox. Basically, everything they could have done wrong, other than not answering the phone, they pretty much have.

After looking at many different insurers, I found that MCE offered the best price by far! It was so much quicker than I thought and dealt with a very friendly advisor! Thanks!

MCE doesn't deserve a star but I can't write the review without giving them one star. A terrible terrible company. The only way I would recommend to use them is if you never intend to claim. They are cheap and so you meet your legal obligation to be insured. But they are truly awful. Their admin systems are appealing and i complained to the regulator because they deliberately held up my statement of no claims bonus which I needed to get insured with another company.

What went wrong is the question - where do I start! Nearly 6 months after my bike was torched by some mindless vandal I'm still waiting to settle the claim. They have been spectacularly hopeless, nobody seems to be remotely interested in drawing this to a close. This is the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. My advice to you - don't use them.

I took out insurance a CBR600RR on 1st April 2016. I cancelled the policy today, 21st October and was told that there was no refund due, even though I still had 5 full months cover. How can this be??? The reason for cancelling was that I wanted to transfer the cover to another motorcycle, but they wanted more to transfer it for the remaining 5 months than I was quoted for 12 months cover with another company. I have been riding nearly 40 years, never made a claim in that time. I run 4 x motorcycles throughout the year and usually transfer cover from 1 to the other at any given time. I have NEVER had an instance where there wasn't a refund for cancelling a policy - even if it was a small figure. Will I ever use MCE again? I don't think so.

My parked bike was knocked over in July. The driver admitted full responsibility and left his details. He is fully insured. It is now late October and nothing has been done other than my bike being taken away. I have been handed from incompetent person to incompetent person, have been given very bad advice along the way, and have been left completely in the dark as to what is happening. I feel as if I am being treated as a criminal. I really don't see what I am paying MCE for. A similar incident happened previously when I was insured with Bennetts and the matter was resolved quickly and efficiently. I would advise strongly against anyone taking a policy out with MCE.

Fraud company, stay well away. My scooter was stolen and burnt out over a year ago, valued at 1700 ponds, still waiting for my payment from MCE wich is now just over 200 pound, you call them to sit on hold for 25mins in wich they just hang up on you. The amount of phone calls i have made over the year would probbe the amount i am receving claims wise. Will never use again or recomend to anyone. Nightmare company, needs to be reported and closed down

I would never recommend to any one. MCE is a worse insurance company to pay off in case of claim. It's been 4 months my bike was robbed. Perpetrators were arrested, all required documents were provided, investigators approved the claim but MCE is now trying to escape from paying back. If you read there terms and conditions you be surprise about catches in TC. Never go for it????????

All in all this company is a big joke, I payed £80 to switch insurance from one bike to another and which they didn't even do which meant I ended up getting pulled over by the police, they will look for any way to take more and more money off of you.

I had an accident on my motorcycle 3 weeks ago and it is classed a cat c total estimated repair cost £6000 just visual no parts listed no break down of costs. It took them 3 weeks to tell me this constant phone calls by me telling them this is the only vehicle I have. The train to London was £30 day bike £10. The bike has been taken to a salvage yard called CO part instead of a body shop for a proper estimate. They have taken pictures of my bike showing the damage and it appears more damage than the photos I have. They have listed vague items including some that were not damaged.I am going to make a formal complaint about the service that I have received. I have brought another bike and waiting for them to settle my claim. My advise they may come up the cheapest by about £50-100 than other insurance company's but this is what happens. You also get leather cover standard this is £350 max less £100 excess yes that's on top of the excess you are already going to pay. You then have to send them your leathers so that would cost you around £40 due to size and weight then they tell you how much they think they are worth due to wear and tear and give you the rest. But you can take them to a leather repair shop and get the panel replaced for less than your £100 excess. So not worth the paper it is printed on.

WARNING joining MCE will be the biggest mistake of your life. Back in April had an accident and the bike was a right off. After months of phone calls and arguments they finally paid out but only after I threatened them with trading standards etc. During all this shocking service they were giving me they gave me a quote for the bike they were willing to pay me so I went out and bought a new bike same make and model but a year younger. Rang them up gave them the new details of the new bike and it cost me another £100 for the remaining time of the policy which by the way was 9 months. So few more phone calls asking where the money was and they finally paid out. Then Two weeks after they paid out they call me up and say now that I've claimed off my policy it is now spent and no longer in place even thou I paid for a full year upfront and an additional £100 for the new bike. I told them to get stuffed and it's now in the hands of the ombudsman. Stay well clear of this shocking company

I work for a company called examworks who validate claims on behalf of MCE. From my experience they like when you find problems not to pay out on honest claims. Around 60% of claims are not paid due to legal gaps found within MCE contracts or policies. If you want a bit of meaningless paper go to MCE!
