“This company does everything it can to make your life awkward especially if the accident is not your fault. We have had to spend nearly £1000 on phone calls to them just for them to do their job. We informed them that there was cctv of the incident on the day of the accident but they didn't get hold of the footage until two days before it was due to be destroyed and only then after we had contacted the company ,which took us 4 mins and 29 secs, after they told us that they couldn't get hold of the relevant person. They are now withholding the repayment of our Excess citing that the other insurance company has to pay this back but they withheld it not the other insurance company. Everyone you speak to tells you a different story. They do not communicate with their own solicitors or you. All in all they are an appalling company to deal with and I will never recommend them to anyone. In fact I will actively discourage people from using their services

This company is absolute crap. After I had a non fault accident all they did was procrastinate and I had to do all the running about to sort the claim out. As a consequence I cancelled my insurance with them within the 14 day cooling off period. They have now sent me a letter asking for more money as they insured me for 9 days of the renewel. In this letter it stated that I cancelled my insurance and it was cancelled on the 22/09/2015 the policy started on the 13/09/2015 so by my maths that is less than 14days. They then said that they are taking the cancellation from the date of my last payment on the 09/09/2015 which still falls within the 14 day cooling off period. It's seems no one knows how to add up at this sham of a company. My car was written off by them so I don't what vehicle they think they were insuring but it wasn't mine. I think that the Financial Ombudsman needs to look in to them. By the way if they wish to dispute this I have all my bank records available. DO NOT USE!!!!”
“Poor customer service. Operators rude and unhelpful. Had a policy with them (44 yrs old male, no accidents, no claims, no convictions, full no claims etc.) for mini diesel and they refused to upgrade my insurance policy to include business use. Would have had to cancel insurance with them, pay cancellation fee and get significantly reduced refund on existing months left on policy before going elsewhere. Complained that they didn't inform me that they didn't offer the facility of business cover - they stated that they did, just not for me! I asked why, they wouldn't enlighten me. Avoid - even if they are cheap!”
“Electronic documents incomplete, and website next to useless. Communications poor. They appeared to be completely baffled by me changing insurers at the same time I was purchasing a new car, surely an everyday occurence for them! They made it excessively difficult to transition from one insurer and car to the other on the same day, saying I couldn`t have two sets of insurance with the same no-claims running concurrently, and I had to come up with additional proof this was not the case. I know you can't use your ncb on more than one policy, but most insurers ignore this anomaly for the few hours overlap. I could not recommend Octagon.”
“Continuing problems with this company.
Last year they auto renewed policy despite having received cancellation.
It was only when I approached the Financial Services Ombudsman that Octagon actually started to care.
They added breakdown and key cover to my policy despite me declining them both.
They appear on Money Supermarklet.com to be cheap but have high APR for pay monthly and if you miss a payment the fees are rediculous.
The staff are rude and disinterested when you call customer services.
Advise calling them off a recorded works phone as agents have told me direct debit date could, and would be changed, but then they didn't do it, and you're held to account.
By far the single worst company I've ever had the displeasure of having insurance through.
Thankfully I have never had to claim on their two-bit policy, I can only imagine they would be an absolute nightmare to deal with if ever you needed to claim.”
