tried to change my insurance to my new bike, got told i couldnt get it from current insurer then got a quote for 4 times as much as i had been paying, this then got brought down slightly and then told i would have to pay a charge for cancelling my insurance but i had to cancel as they wouldnt insure me. riduculous!!!!

Bunch of unprofessional people..I never encountered any insurance broker like them in past 12 years...now taking my complaint to financial ombudsman...

Absolutely misleading. They increased my charges on the basis that my no claims bonus was for a car not a van which made no difference with other insurers. Utterly appalled with their customer service too.

Ater having insurance for 2 weeks I was called and told I wasnt covered as my points that were off my licence are stuill valid to Principal insurance- no debate and charged £57 for 2 weeks insurance for a 1980s 250 mcycle.Daylight robbery keep away from these fools.Waited 11 mins to complain but hung up as rigamortice was setting in.

I got a quote for motorhome insurance from Principal via GoCompare. It seemed competitive. When I went to buy I had to ring them. Waited nearly 10 mins for someone to answer. Having confirmed all the details as per my online application the price was £60 more expensive than that quoted on the Gocompare site. Wasted over an hour! Guy on the phone couldn't even give an explanation. Wouldn't bother with them again and I suggest you don't. Looking at their ratings it's about 50 / 50 between good and poor service.

To expensive insurance I get renewals from you 112£ But I paid 200£ this is ridiculous last time neve ever again!!!!

These guys are cowboys. They said they had an issue with the data used to build my policy and stated they would call me. They took 7 weeks to call me, when the discrepancy was found between the data the comparison site used they then cancelled the policy. I have not had any further contact or a refund for nearly 3 weeks. When on the phone, they stated most of my premium would be absorbed in the cancellation fee, which was higher because it was outside the 14 day cooling off period. The only reason it is outside is because THEY say on it for 7 weeks!! I'm convinced they play and bend these rules to their advantage - a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman is in order for poor customer service and excessive and unfair fees.

They all are thieves. There's no way I could rate them less than one star other wise I would have given them -100 Because they don't really want to sell insurance. My quote came online on their website 1200 and when I rang them the guy named Jason said he can't offer me less than £10,000. Ridiculous. So buy a Vehicle for 10K and then buy insurance for another 10K

I sold my vehicle with 1 month remaining on the policy. They are a broker so earn money by being the middle-man. I ended up having to pay MORE to cancel the policy. That's right, not having cover cost me more money than simply letting the policy lapse. This is outrageous. It is a legal obligation on my part to notify them, but by charging me next time i'm tempted to not bother informing my insurer and simply letting the policy lapse. That it simply unacceptable. I kicked up a fuss and said i wouldn't pay more to not have cover, having paid handsomely for cover at the beginning. She immediately said that the amount (£30 or so, so not a huge sum) would be handed over to a debt collection agency. NICE. I will never, EVER deal with this company again, and will shout as loudly as possible that nobody else should. Plus their renewal on my other vehicles was twice the amount i got it for with another company. Plus through the year i had numerous admin cock-ups, including getting a letter from the Motor Insurance Database telling me i had an uninsured vehicle. Bye bye Principal...

I accepted their competitive quote and filled in all the details. I went to the DVLA site to get the reference number for them to check my driver details on my license. I then had an email from then stating that they wanted a copy of my driving license form and back. I sent an email back to ask what they meant as I was confused. The next mail from them was a note stating that they were still waiting for my driving license front and back. Well if you had spelt front' correctly the first time, or answered my query to my mail then they would have had the documents that they are now still waiting for. Not a good start to a new service provider/ client relationship. I hope that it improves should I need their services in the event of a claim.

principal insurance rip you off don't go with them they trap you and after you can't cancel insurance if you want they give you less then half what you pay please please stay away from them

this is the worst insurance in the UK. They cancelled my van policy is because i have 2 property. 1 i live and 1 for renting out but have access to rental property everyday. my driving licence is currently registered at the rental property and my van insured at my property i lived in. they dont like it, i offered them to change the address but they refused. absolutely wanker, never call to inform and left my van on the road without insurance. nasty people and lied. avoid

absolute scam when asked to provide proof of NCD I asked them to ring my old insurance company and confirm over the phone (they said that was fine and would ring me back if any problems) I was then sent threatening letters saying they were going to cancel my policy and then was charged double premium and they refused to refund even when they had proof of my NCD, bad customer service and useless call staff would give 0 stars if had an option.

Wrote to tell me they were cancelling insurance within 7 days as I had not sent necessary documentation. Documents had been sent 3 months previously. Rang them, they acknowledged letter was sent in error. Won't be renewing the policy with them.

I would give a zero rating but this wasn't an option hence the 1 rating. Shockingly rude service. Registered online and a rep rang back and immediately started to interrogate me for my personal details without actually introducing herself or explaining. When I queried about the policies, she then decided I wasn't interested and hung up on me!

Avoid please ,this company they are scammers please do go with this insurance , they called me after 9 month and canceled my insurance while i was on the road driving left me on the middle of nowhere without insurance or notice , they said we didnt looked at your email, they should have been review by a specialist as they are doing something wrong , gangs ran company washing they money or something

Principal accepted my bike insurance and took my money. 14 days later they left me a voice mail saying that my insurance was cancelled with immediate effect because the insurance would not accept that the bike was left in a private car park overnight as opposed to a driveway. They had to leave a message as I was riding at the time! This means I was riding uninsured through no fault of my own. Whilst Principal admitted fault, 2 weeks later I have still not received my refund, nobody on the phone is sure what is going on, the only manager who knows what is happening is apparently never in, and never calls back. Completely useless!
