About Le Chameau:

Le Chameau are the only rubber boots to be handmade by a single master bootmaker, each pair is unique. Using the highest quality materials and with a range of iconic and innovative styles, Le Chameau Maîtres Bottiers have been making our boots by hand for over 90 years. Every Le Chameau boot is constructed by one Maîtres Bottier. In order to become a Maîtres Bottier it takes 9 months of training before they are permitted to construct their first rubber boot.

“Hello! I just bought my 2nd pair of the Le Chateau, leather lined. I've had my first pair for over a decade and they are MAGNIFICENT! I bought these JUST in case my first pair wear out - but they don't seem to. Unfortunately this new pair seems totally different. The leather lining seems like fake leather. Is this possible? They seem sticky and hot on the foot - as if the leather isn't real. Also, the color is a sort of faded pea soup instead of the wonderful green of my first pair. What is happening to the quality of these boots? Is the leather fake? Sorry to write a negative review - but it's really perplexing.”

Please do be assured we use the same quality full-grain calf leather as we have historically to produce our boots. “There are 2 major design issues with these expensive boots. Firstly, unlike the rest of the inside, the heel is made of rubber which grips your socks. Unfortunately, this rolls your socks down under your feet, leaving your heel bare and your sock rucked up under your foot after 100 metres of walking. Secondly, there is no spur on the outside, so removing the boot is difficult and you end up with either dirty hands or, if you use your foot, dirty socks. You can carry around a boot remover, but that's very bulky. Otherwise the boots are fine, but I wouldn't buy another pair as I loath putting them, knowing I'm going to have to adjust my socks every 100 metres.”

“Beautiful boots, however the left boot is narrower in the opening compared to the right boot by 5mm at least. It also feels smaller all around. I would expect that for this price the left and the right shoe would be the same size and fit. I am very disappointed because I really wanted these boots.”

“Hello, Last year in April , 2023 I bought Vierzon Cuir boots. They were purchased not from Le Chameau directly but from third party store. Boots arrived, fit perfectly and looked great. Couple of weeks ago and after very light use, one side of the strap on one of the boots came unglued. I emailed Le Chameau and received a message that since I did not buy from them directly, there is NOTHING they can do. To sum it up, great looking boots however quality is not what they used to be. Company does NOT stand behind their products.”

“Je n'ai pas eu de chance , après avoir demandé conseil auprès de vos vendeurs quant à l'utilisation des bottes avec de grosses chaussettes, on m'a recommander de perndre une pointure au-dessus de la mienne mais il s'est avéré qu'ellse sont trop grandes donc le maintien du pied n'est pas satisfaisant. Je suis évidemment très déçu car j'ai retourné les bottes et je dois attendre le remboursement pour recommander ces bottes dans une pointure inférieure, l'échange n'étant pas proposé par Le Chameau.”

“déçu! de nombreuses traces de colle sur le devant du sac. j'ai failli le renvoyer. à ce prix-là, c'est inacceptable! ce n'est pas digne de 2 marques qui se prétendent faire des produits de qualité.... en plus je n'ai pas été encore remboursé du trop payé (le prix indiqué n'était pas le bon! amateurisme là enocre....).”

“I've owned several pairs of 'Ceres' short boots. They last a couple of seasons then one boot ends up letting in water = damp toes and the pair requiring replacement. The grippy thing behind the heel makes putting on/taking off these boots with certain socks a chore. Will now look elsewhere.”

“My second pair of Le Chameau wellingtons because I love how warm they keep my feet. My first pair lasted 4 years of constant wear. My second pair I noticed that the material didn't seem to be of the same quality as my previous pair. Now not even two years' old and they have split both sides of the foot. So won't be buying again.”

“Good. I still have my very old Le Chameau rubber shoes, which are not produced anymore and the soles are a lot heavier than the current boots. I still don't quite understand why there are no exchanges allowed, only repurchases.”

These are our lightest weight boots, they feature a single density sole which is designed especially to weigh less than others in the range. “I bought these boots to replace a pair I had lost. Unfortunately I was disappointed to find the quality not the same as previous boots. The rubber is inferior, lighter and less robust. Disappointed with the purchase.”

“Loved the look of the 3 navy beds o bought when they arrived. Very strong and well made. However even though I have Westies that don’t shed, they fabric clings to every hair and is impossible to brush off. Nothing works. They just look shabby after use”

“These are the third pair of Jameson boot I have had. Though not immediately obvious they differ in a number of key respects, no doubt accounting for surprising price. I would however of been happy to of paid appreciably more for ones without these 'improvements'. I shall not be getting a fourth!”
