“I was treated with care and respect at leicester royal infirmary. I attended a&e yesterday and unfortunately I got worse whilst I was there. I was helped into a room and tended to immediately.”
“I am writing to express my concern regarding my recent visit to your Adult Emergency department. While I want to acknowledge the kindness and professionalism of the staff—particularly the first doctor I saw, who was friendly and made me feel comfortable—I am deeply troubled by the overall experience and the lack of timely medical intervention.
I arrived at approximately 16:45 and was not discharged until around 07:00 the following morning. During this time, I was sitting waiting on a bench in cold and uncomfortable conditions, without access to food or adequate support. My legs became swollen, and I felt increasingly unwell.
nurses took my blood pressure and consistently noted that it was high,he was even worried about it ,I was informed that the doctor had been notified, yet no action was taken to address this. Despite assurances that I would be seen “at once,” I was not provided with any treatment or medication to manage my blood pressure throughout the night.
In the morning, I was told everything was fine and discharged, but I remain concerned that no steps were taken to investigate or manage my elevated blood pressure, which could have posed serious health risks.
I understand that staffing pressures may have contributed to delays, but I believe that basic comfort, communication, and clinical care should not be compromised. I would appreciate a review of this incident and clarification on how such situations are handled to ensure patient safety and dignity.
Thank you for your time and attention.”
“My daughter was abused and mistreated and lied about by 2 scumbag physios Caroline Farthing and Laura Meadows wholied saying she could walk freely around the hispital but strangely she cannit wak nearly 3 months later. These 2 should be sacked.fir incompetence and lying about a vulnerable patient who theyhave never met. Somepeople will say anything to try and be in favour with management. Shame on you.”

“My daughter went in with jaundice and aserious infection around ger liver and needed a blood transfusion because she was losing all of her blood cells and platelets. She was recovering in wRd 15 but was transferred to general wRd 47 where treatment was shocking. All the junior doctor and registrar wanted to do was discharge patients. Please note they trued to duscharge my adult daughter 3 times even though she was unable to walk and eventually they discharged her after 12 days in hospital on 1st July. She was taken home in a wheelchair in an ambulance because she could not walk and the district nurses had to visit fir the next 12 days and the community physio is coming every week to try and help with her kick if mobility. Unfortunately the discharge letter was a fabrication if lies. It stated she was in hospital for 4 days but was now mobile and well when she was in with a serious infection and is still unable to walk. I have tried times to get a true discharge letter and complained to PALS and the CEO but total waste if time since they keep saying discharge letter is accurate but are unwilling to give my daughter her medical records which would prove hiw ill she is. I put an official complaint in and I couldn't believe the outcome. 2 senior Physio wrote the letter Caroline Farthing and Lisa Meadows and stated that they had seen my seriously ill daughter freely walk round the ward and she told them how well she felt. Please note these liars have never met my daughter. Because of the discharge letter my daughter has had no treatment or medication from her GP. The community nurses and community physio are well aware and social services Leicester that my daughter has no mobility. She is having to try and stand with a walker and has a commode in her bedroom because she cannot walk to the bathroom. I decided to ho to the Parliamentary Ombudsman but surprise surprise PALS have reopened a new complaint which is exactly the sMe as the first one made in July. They are going round and round in circles obviously trying to waste time. Unfortunately my daughter us quite unwell. I dont know what to do about treatment or medication. I want to ring 111 or 999 but she does not want to go back to that hospital where she was do badly treated.”
“Sent to A&E by GP... as someone who is immune suppressed and gets ill very easily to be squashed in a crowd of ill and bleeding people made getting treatment inaccessible. Left without treatment. Still in pain.”
“Ward 35 idu michelle nurse what a wonderful person nothing to much for her she looked after my daughter emma so nice helpful happy you dont get many like her”
“My father in law has started chemo recently. During our visits we came across a lovely lady called POULAMI KARMAKAR who is always at reception in oncology Osborne building. She is the most helpful staff member I have ever seen. She listens to patients and relatives and always try her best to help and sort out problems as much as possible.
I normally don't write reviews but wrote it especially to appreciate her.”
“My mum arrived at the leic royal with a broken hip . She was looked after very well by all the nursing staff on ward 18 . My mum really liked solis as she made her feel comfortable and less embarrassed with using commode . Lovely girl and all staff were great who were always on hand to help . Thankyou everyone 🩷”
“Attended A&E majors with my elderly mother everyone looking after her was lovely but none of them were a fully qualified doctor, let alone an actual consultant. Can you actually call yourself a hospital if you are not fully appropriately staffed. It was a dangerous day for anyone turning up who wasn't easy to diagnose. My offence to the nice unqualified people trying to prop it up but maybe go out on strike to provide an actual safe hospital environment rather than play along with the charade.”
“Attended A &E Tuesday last Tuesday 7pm. Left 5.30 Wed am..
It was so v v crowded... Really packed out. Had to be seen by different sections plus X Rays. Every single staff member, without exception, was so very kind and very attentive. Really very skilled care. They were working flat out....huge dept but so many patients! All staff were courteous and doing their absolute best ...they kept their sense of humour! I did feel that the dept would be an easier environment if patients were permitted only I person with them. There were patients with 2 or 3 relatives with them who were occupying chairs and spaces requiring patients to be left standing. Also a ban on bringing hot food into the dept as the overall smell was quite nauseous which is inconsiderate to other patients. The staff deserve an award for their delivery of skilled, and dedicated delivery of care, given so kindly and with humour with so many logistical challenges. Thank you very much”
“Went to A&E went through triage fairly quickly, I was sent to minors and was told I’d be seen quicker that way I sat for a long time watching other people in minors that had arrived later than me going in before me , I got fed up with waiting so I left . I know that they see people in priority order but this was minors not majors if it’s urgent you shouldn’t be in minors at all , not happy .”
“Appalling experience at the Leicester Royal Infirmary yet again! My 88 yr old Mother had a fall at home and sustained a bleeding head injury, 2 black eyes a broken nose and a deep laceration to her lip. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital and waited several hours to be seen by a doctor. She was declared fit to be discharged late at night & I received a call to pick her up. I travelled to pick her up only to find her wandering unaccompanied in the dark cold night confused, disorientated and freezing cold. I have written this review for the public to see because something similar happened to my Mother a few years ago and I wrote a complaint but clearly nothing was done about the “investigation carried out” and their promise that staff will be trained so this doesn’t happen again!
Surely the A&E staff should not discharge an elderly lady who has just sustained head and facial injuries out alone in to a dark cold night particularly when they are in end stage renal, have mobility problems and suffer with confusion! I arrived just in time to save my Mother. This is a warning for others.”
“Very good service going straight from ambulance on arrival to Ambulance Assessment Unit cubicle circa 23.00. Then transfer after initial assessments to Emergency Department Majors circa 2am. Still there knowing awaiting necessary side room bed in Acute medical ward. All the staff who have dealt with me have been and now with day shift are excellent: caring, compassionate, effective e and on the ball. Thank you. A heartfelt thank you to all.”
“Was taken to A & E by ambulance after a fall. The ambulance guys were great. Can not praise them enough. Turns out I had Fractured femur at the neck. Had to wait three days for operation because there was no theatre space. Staff clearly under a lot of pressure, especially caring for patients who are immobile. The ward was overcrowded so staff were working extra hard to meet needs. Clearly a lack of resources. Ward very ergonomically poorly set up for any patient who is immobile. So all the staff are doing a wonderful job. My thanks to them all. Politicians get your act together and support these people doing a really difficult job. Politicians you should be ashamed of yourselves for not supporting our NHS. That goes for all political parties. You are all full of wind and nothing else.”
“I was taken by ambulance to the LRI Accident & Emergency Dept last Thursday 23/1/25. After a 4hr wait in the ambulance I was admitted to PEP 4. I want to convey my gratitude to the staff in this unit for their kindness and excellent care. In particular Jake who looked after me and was amazing at drawing blood, an action that seems impossible on me according to my local GP practice. Also Dr Moaaz who was brilliant trying to sort a diagnosis and explaining his process to me to keep me fully informed and calm. They were excellent, kind and caring I cannot thank them enough, it's a pity that the after care with my GP (which is non existent) destroys all of their good work. It is fair to say that the LRI is definitely under stress with not enough staff or resources, the actual A & E department looked like a war zone with standing room only and crowds of people in need of medical care. The system is clearly broken and all of the staff do an amazing job working under very stressful conditions. Thank goodness that they care as obviously our politicians do not!

“LRI section are just full of angels and God work by your hands! I had a termination pregnancy few hours ago and all the staff was kind, respectfully, very carefull and always asked me if I am OK and I need anything. I was very scared about general anesthesia, but you team was brilliant and helped to get comfortable and I listen all their indications.the surgery was a succes and I just want to thank you for everything!”
“What went wrong? I made an innocent phone call to find out the ward my Uncle was in. He was admitted the day before after falling again. He is 88. I was immediately asked his birth date. I know his age but not his birth date as we live a distance apart. So then the obstructive barriers are pulled down and the most information the uptight receptionist gives you is visiting times. Stuff em”
