“This review is specifically about the wool filled dog bed inserts by Molly Mutt. I love the idea of their wool dog beds, and I loved this bed when it first arrived. I'm really sensitive to materials and wanted to make a healthy choice for my dog, myself, and the environment, and I am willing to pay good money for it. I scoured the internet to try to find the perfect bed for my needs. Sadly, I'd never buy one of these beds again, and can't recommend it with gusto to my health and eco-conscious friends. We've had it for about a year and a half, and as I was just sitting here pulling apart the clumps of wool (again), I was inspired to write a review. The wool became clumpy really quickly, and I literally ripped open the seam to get to it so I could pull it apart and fluff it up again. I'm going to be sewing a zipper to the insert so I can get to the wool more easily. Wool sheeting may work much better than this clumpy stuffing. When I phoned to ask about it, I was told I need to do exactly as I'm doing (minus the ripping of the seam, but I just couldn't get to the material well enough without ripping the seam to get my hands on the wool clumps). When it gets super clumpy and uneven for my poor dog, I put several layers of blankets on it so it doesn't feel as bumpy. Especially as he ages and his joint health declines, this will not be the bed for him. It's possible that if there were more wool in a smaller envelope this wouldn't happen as bad, but as it is, there is enough room that the clumpy wool spreads out leaving some areas bumpy and other areas sparse, so much so that the heavier areas of my dog's body (the hips for instance) would nearly hit the floor. I feel bad making a less-than-stellar review because I LOVE this company's vision, but for the cost of this bed, I'm pretty bummed at the need to repeatedly do the physical task of ripping apart the stuffing on a regular basis. The top cover is made fabulously, it's just the wool insert I'm really unhappy with. If the company is going to tell us to pull apart the wool, they should at least make that easy to do with a cover that allows easy access, but I'm pretty bummed to be needing to fix a bumpy bed in the first place, especially at this price point.”

Why don't you reach out to us help@mollymutt.com and let's see what we can do to help you out. For example - we'd be happy to put a zipper on one of our encasements and send it to you so that you can more easily get at the wool. We can also send you some fresh wool if you need it. The beauty of our wool inserts is that the wool is not processed at all - which means that the natural lanolin on the fibers can do it's magic and help keep your dog warm in the cold winter and cool in the hot summer. Many wool pillow manufacturers treat their wool with chlorine, which removes the lanolin but allows the wool to be easily handled and moved around. We have opted not to do that because we don't believe that dogs -or humans - need to be subjected to more chemicals than we already are. That does mean, however, that the wool in our inserts does have to be hand-fluffed on a regular basis (usually once a week). Thank you again!

“Not a fan. My dog still won't lay on the dog bed. I think too much air? I try to lay on it with her. No go. I see today they are doing the zippers on the side! That will be a huge improvement.”

“This cover requires an precise fit. Our crate is 42" but with a slightly different height and width and the sides gape. Also, it is difficult to roll up.”

“For the cost of the bed, I expected the wool stuffing to be full and therefore, firmer. I am having to add a firm foam pad to support the bed because the wool is so squishy because it is not nearly as full as it should be. My dog is getting his feet stuck/tripping when he gets in and out of the bed. We will see if the cover holds up. Customer service when ordering was very helpful though.”

“We have a lot of red mud where I live so when the dogs go out in the yard, they come back in with it on their paws. Once it dries on them, it turns to a powdery dust and then goes airborne to cover everything I own in a thin layer of red. This (obviously) drives me nuts! So I decided to order a washable crate cover to try to trap it before it goes in the air. However, not even 24 hours with the cover on our dogs crate, they had chewed it to pieces..... so the ~$90 spent is down the drain. I am giving a 3 because my ordering experience with mollymutt itself was great! Nothing to complain about. Sizing was perfect as well. My only caution is the strength of the material. Definitely not dog teeth resistant :(”

“I have bought Molly Mutt dog covers before & they are excellent quality. Unfortunately the wait time in the UK for them to arrive is really long. I haven’t received my new dog covers yet & hope they are not stuck at customs or that I am asked to pay the import duty.”

“Everything was good except when I went to "track my package" it said cancelled by company (or something like that), and there was no other update or message sent from Molly Mutt. Then, before I could call to figure out everything, I ended up getting my package. It was a little confusing. The car cover looks like very good quality.”
