Hi Donn, Please email us directly at support@mydogtag.com and let us know the differences between what you ordered and what you were expecting to get. Our dog tags are the same as issued currently by the US military. Depending on when you served, where your original tags were issued, and who made them there can be differences in the formatting of information as well as in the thickness of the tags. We are always looking for ways to improve our products to better serve veterans and their families.

“SORRY I DID RECIEVE THEM AND THEY ARE VERY POOR I CAN'T EVEN READ THE PRINTING ON THEM. MY BROTHER A VET WAS ASKING ME ABOUT THEM AND SOME FRIENDS. i HAVENT TALKED TO THEM YET.”

Hi John, You ordered our vintage era-specific debossed tags which are indeed harder to read and is why the military eventually switched to embossed tags which are much easier to read. One way to make them easier to read is to rub some black shoe polish into the letters to make them stand out more. Alternatively, please email us and we can arrange to replace them with embossed tags.

“My serial number is totally wrong. My number was RA11652205 but the new tags read RA1-16-5220. Totally wrong. Going in the garbage.”

Hi Jay, we take great pride in showing EXACTLY what your Dogtags will look like along every step of the design process on our website. You would have seen a preview of your tags on the Generator page, in the shopping cart, and in the proof email. Please refer to the proof image that was emailed to you after you placed your order, that tags that you received should match it if exactly, if they do not we will certainly replace your tags for free.

Thank you Don for your feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve our products for veterans and their families. The thickness of dog tags and the metal alloys used have varied over time and by manufacturer. Notched dog tags have not officially been made since 1967 and modern manufacturers use the same metal stock as current military regulations which call for thinner metal. Please feel free to email us with any more comments on how we can improve the product for you.
