I have been provided the opportunity to adjust the outlines for various seminars and plenty of time to prepare the written materials for the seminars in which I am participating. I value the experience and know that preparing and presenting the material keeps me up to date on the issues!”
“I have spoken several times for National Business Institute. I prefer attending their sessions vs other providers because they automatically provide you with written materials and they are not ruled by the larger firms as many of the bar association events are.
Occasionally I have spoken for them out of town and they did not volunteer to provide me with any compensation for substantial mileage. Consequently, I no longer do out of town engagements for them.”

“The staff who set up and record the video presentations are great. I appreciate the friendly professionalism with which they select speakers, record the presentations and support the logistical needs of the speakers.
Sometimes presentations could be better if the speakers understood that, if they give NBI enough advance notice, they can often revise the topics or subtopics to better fir their expertise. The only poor presentations I have seen were when speakers tried to cover topics about which they had no experience.
One thing that would really help on the day the video is broadcast: when viewers e-mail in questions prior to the end of the program, forwarding those questions to the speakers prior to the end of the program would give us a chance to give much better answers. As it stands, we hear the questions for the first time at the end of the broadcast and are expected to respond quickly. When the questions are known in advance, I'd appreciate the chance to think about them a bit.”
“I quite enjoy teaching CLEs for NBI. They are organized and predictable. Plus, the equipment they provide is always there and working. And, the materials and agendas are logical and make sense.”

The planners and contact people for each seminar are very helpful and give clear information as to what I need to prepare in the outline and any powerpoint presentation. The Moderators at the seminars are knowledgable, friendly and helpful. When asked to speak, I can't always do it, but I try to as much as possible. They make it as easy as it can be to get up in front of a bunch of attorneys you don't know and speak (whether in person or by phone).”
“Normally I love being a speaker for NBI. This time it was horrible. My ppt did not show up as I sent it in but in black and white and quite hard to read. I wanted to open it early so I had a chance to make it bigger and make sure I was able to see but the moderated would not let me. I also could not ask her questions also she could talk to me. I found myself unable to see the slides very well. As the format given to me what terrible to read from. Therefore, I chose to deliver my presentation from my memory. Then the moderator interrupted me to tell me I was very behind and have many slide to go when I only two slides to go. I found it very annoying. I spent a lot of time on my slides to ensure I could see them and the font was a good size. This was not a good experience.”

“Attending NBI seminars is a great way to stay abreast of new developments in one's chosen field of practice, gain knowledge to expand into other areas and network with practitioners. Excellent speakers, excellent value.”
“They have very few people show up to the presentations. The outlines they created end up being very difficult to write information for once you sit down and start looking at it more closely. Sometimes, there isn't even enough information to talk on for an hour.”
