Such a bad experience with this company. Left the property on the 17th May, the week I left they sent me two emails with statements showing my prepayment meter was in credit. I tried to reclaim that credit and after several emails I had to show them the emails they sent me! Went through to Someone else got the refund and now two months later they are trying to charge me a final bill or standard of performance. It was a prepayment meter, I was transferred from bulb - I have never agree’ed or advised to any other scheme, other than paying for my energy usage in advance. Don’t go with these people they are a con!

Stay away from OCTOPUS ENERGY It is a criminal company who unlawfully hold your money for extended periods of time. I asked for a refund On multiple occasions as my account was consistently hundreds and hundreds of pounds in credit. In order to get my money back This took more than 10 days And 10 days is the companies minimum time scale in order to refund the to you money 10 days is ridiculous. I don’t know any company that takes so long to transfer funds. I run a business myself and I transfer funds within 48 hours. This is simply so they can hold it even longer In order to gain interest from customers capital. After reading the reviews on Octopus Energy it is clear they are criminal and there are no other words for it. I am building a legal case against this company. I will also be asking people to come forward who are having the same issues in order to have this company shut down and the owner prosecuted.

Having moved to a new house we decided to do a new search for an energy provider and settled on Octopus energy due to good reviews. We had a referral discount of £50 from the outgoing owners, for changing supply to octopus, which we were happy about but to our disappointment this is only applicable if Octopus does not already service the house. This is a complete mis-sell, it doesn’t state that the house itself has to be with a different supplier to get the discount and I think for most people they would assume the occupant being a new customer. Just poor advertisement, I will be looking for other suppliers.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. An absolutely atrocious company. I had to go through the ombudsman to get compensation and an apology from this incompetent bunch. Stick to a real energy provider - any of the big six.

RE: A-069C6622 Have been battling Octopus customer services for a year, haven't had an accurate bill for a year because of failings by Octopus, and I'm owed about £3000. My smart meter (that they fitted) started missing a few readings occasionally. I noticed the trend and let the company know. They advised the meter needs a restart and that they will send an engineer to do so. For 7 MONTHS, they didn't send an engineer. Only until the Energy Ombudsman got involved did they eventually send an engineer. To restart the meter. The Ombudsman set out that Octopus have 3 weeks to send an accurate upto date bill at that point. Instead they've billed me £4300 for a year's electricity, and billed the whole year on their standard flexible tariff, despite me being on Intelligent Octopus, having Solar and batteries and so 90% of my usage being off peak. Despite there only being a few missing days of data, they've billed the whole year at the expensive peak price and so I'm paying 4x the price I should. I literally have the Octopus Home Mini which saves readings every 5 seconds and uploads them to their servers and so they should be able to get missing days from there.  I've spent countless hours now trying to get this issue sorted but all their customer service agents send generic replies and are completely useless. It's a shame as I like the company for their innovative tariffs but the customer service is appalling. Just inform , when you close your account , the fee charge electricity is £75 and gas £75 . Unbelievable. I don’t recommend octopus

send in meter readings for gas electric every month same day,,,,they decided not charge gus part pay by direct debit, just given me £350 gas bill rubbish company, can never speak with any body waste space company

I don't know how there score is so hight. They cost me £200+ for electricity in a flat I've not been in half the time. There emails are confusingly written for example: "On 11th April, your balance was ‑£328.80. We've since charged you £308.53, and you've paid in £395.52. Now, your balance is ‑£241.81." I moved out of the flat more than two months ago, yet they've charged me £250 this month. I'm sure they're just as bad as any other energy company but this place have crippled me. I now pay a fixed £55 a month with OVO. I would recommend them instead.

The good pay the staff get for selling their rubbish is ‘OUR MONEY’ they are squirrelling away. They wanted me to pay nearly £180 per month now, in the summer months so I would a healthy account in the winter! On yer bike.. I have switched to another company and paying £50 per month!! You will always be in debt to them, stir clear

They behaved as I didn't exist. Horrendous power bills. One of my bills last year was £208 and they were still demanding more. Not a hope of ever getting back any overpayment. Silly games like spin the dial, you may win some points. What a joke! They held on to my remaining money for a full month when I moved to another supplier.

No stars here either! If you ever get offered their deals out on the high street or on the phone then tell them to jog on or cut them off!! Their own staff told me they would not touch Octopus but they get good pay to sell the stinking dead octopus!

Octopus took over from Shell & quadrupled usual amount my son paid. He refused & asked for meter reading bills not estimates they kept sending. They wouldnt comply so then Octopus got debt collection company involved (AIC) who demanded £1,400 same day payment from me in a text! I live 200 miles away from my sons address. l ignored calls after one useless conversation lasting hour. They leave voicemail everyday & it's all because my son used my mobile to call them once. Octopus eventually agreed bill was in fact £800 over the correct amount. They compensated son but didn't notify debt collectors. Today l spoke to AIC and hopefully they will cease & desist from further harassment of me. They have breached data protection by using my number & locating my name also. Irony is lm not, never have been & never will be an Octopus customer. Real octopus stink when they're dead..........so do sharks.

So decided to think about moving supplier. Heard how wonderful they are on the radio! Went online to get a quote they wanted my yearly usage. Did and estimate with some reading off my current supplier seemed a good price so rang Octupus just to check the quote was right. Was put on hold 4 times! Said I had to be with them for a year before I could share my usage??? So I thought il ring my current supplier for the exact usage. Rang the 'sales" team what a suprise unable to give me an accurate quote but I ha e the correct up to date yearly usage fees, put on hold again! I told him why is the amount given straight away online but ringing up speaking to you with the actual usage amount it's difficult put on hold again whilst he spoke to his manager mumbled some figures for electric ( didn't add up) couldn't do the gas so going to email it to me..2 hours later still waiting. Sooooo glad I didn't sign up 😛

Firing my fiancé for “poor performance” after they completely changed his job role after one month of being at the company to a sales position. Management is extremely abusive and bullies staff even if they get sales. Horrible place to work, please avoid.

I moved to this company believing they looked after their customers no they are like any other supplier just want your money increasing the direct debit amount when they feel like it charging ridiculous money and when you do contact them for help or a query on your bill won't help you just want money do not use this company!

NO STARS Deceitful company! A member of their sales staff told me recently that their motto is ‘WE LIKE TO LOOK AFTER OUR STAFF AND F*CK THE CUSTOMERS. NOW GET OUT THERE AND GET THEIR MONEY!’ Don’t be giving your money to this dodgy company folks as you will most certainly regret it!
