“I contacted Octopus energy via their app about a query I have regarding the app, it has now been more than 7 weeks and copious emails of shilly shallying and still no answer, they now want to discuss the matter and keep asking for an available time but still don’t get back to me - what a shambles. “I have just emailed octopus energy for the 10th time. My bills were estimated because we're too busy to send readings then after they requested I made sure I sent them. I was in credit of £1500. The first bill Dec 2023 to March 2024 swiped away £750 then April readings sent to them they swiped away the last £750 to leave me in £14 debit. My April bill for gas was 4826.58 kWh & electric 1367.38 this for one month when 2 people live in the house and work 5 days a week and live off take out food and heat the house sparingly. Octopus have a default mode and think things are settled. so far refunded me small change for grossly over exaggerated estimated reading for gas but electric has been taken twice and no refund imminent. I am in credit only because they double my direct debit payment to line their pockets with. My contract ends September 2024 I'll definitely be switching.”

“Unfortunately lost trust completely after receiving a bill of over 1k in debt after a was in positive balance for over 6 months by £500! The bill includes months from 2023 yet it was meant to be for 2024!!! I didn’t expect that and looking at individual months usage it certainly didn’t add up!!! Really disappointed and therefore has gone back to eon as they do have night tariff now for EV. Regret recommending it to others in the past and will feel guilty if they had similar experience. Avoid them and go for a more reputable company for a peace of mind. Now I need to raise the funds as can’t face complaints procedure etc simply don’t have the time!! What a shame octopus”
“Bully boys tactics to get a Smart meter installed by stating your meters at its end of life. Refused & asked what can be done as I do not want a smart meter. Replied sorry it is a promotion!!!! “Absolute scammers! When I moved in I was told the property provider was Octopus yet when I registered they said it was Shell Energy. Paid the first Shell bill before receiving an Octopus bill. Received several letters threatening court action due to an unpaid bill - sent Octopus proof of payment for this and it turns out they overcharged me and I'm due £150 back. THREE months on they have still not matched the proof of payment to my account and returned the money. It's absolutely criminal!”

Octopus energy are ripping people off with extortionate bills ,not calling back ,don't even care ,,,,
Myself and my wife both work full time , live in a normal sized home, have led lighting throughout the house, roof and wall insulation,new economical boiler ,even 16 large solar panels on the roof of which create LOADS of kilowats per day,,,,, and yet we still have a bill from octopus for £4,500.
We have already paid them £2,439 THIS YEAR ALONE!!!!! AND THEY ARE STILL taking £100 per month direct debit,,
We have brought this to their attention more than once
They even sent out an engineer to our house last Thursday (13/7/24) for a track and trace,,,(he doesn't do track or trace)!!!!!! for him to say that with all our energy from solar we shouldn't really have a bill at all ,or at least a tiny one,,,he didn't get it either , funny thing is they are sending him out again in 2weeks time to do the same thing,,,so incompetent!!!!!
We also seem to be using MORE electric when we are at work or asleep, according to them, on there own website where you can see your usage,,

Back in January 2023 i pay £150 each month due to miss payment they said i had, by april same year my app said £45 to be left after £550 bill in January but when i looked bck on app days later said it was back up to £150 then from every week it went bck up to £600 0dds i left which how would i be able too move with such a big bill.... now agree to pay bck £18.49 for 3 years just to keep them off my bck. I wish i could give them zero stars”
“Messed up my account and then put me in arrears.. Every time I made contact to sort it out, I have a different person telling me somethung different.. They phoned me and emailed throughout the day, every day and threatening debt collectors, even though I'd spoken with customer service and explained when monies would be paid. Then added £112 onto my bill, followed by £118 2 days later.

I called them to quiz this bill, They said I haven't been billed for Electricity for over 14 months!!..I was unaware of this as I just paid the amounts due, Looking at my bills I am now thinking I've been overcharged for Gas only!! I told them this surely can't be right, how can you not bill me for over 1 year with smart meters installed and hourly readings, I can see my usage.

“I was with shell energy the Octopus took over my bill went through the roof I was also in credit and getting refund from Shell Energy now I am in debt from £457.00 and I was away for one month in January 2024 so Octopus is filling their pockets with high price for gas and electricity so I have decided to leave Octopus and I have complain about this 10 weeks ago still no answer”

And all this time i receive wrong bills. Nor sure on what they base their claims for best customer service at all. Disappointed at the least.”
