I had a hard time deciding on rating Rapid Electronics, mainly due in recent years it's take-over by Conrad or association in trading. Since this time, Rapid has become less efficient in obtaining items, in particular electronic components... and where items say available but, require 5 or more days to fore-fill the order, due stocked in the EU, Conrad I presume ! So these days I only place orders for items that are in stock within the UK-Rapid, and odd enclosures especially Hammond, where the holding range is at times, good. Regretfully; Rapid has become far less a useful company, and more a disappointing one.

UPDATED: Subsequent order went missing and poor/nil response from Rapid. Rapid Electronics provides a convenient and cost effective way of ordering low value components and parts. Having used them twice in recent days I can confirm that their speed of delivery is first class and compares well against the other main component suppliers including RS and Farnell. Rapid's online ordering process is clear and user friendly and I particular like and personally benefited from the availability of technical information and data sheets.

I ordered cable which didnt say it was out of stock. I queued in the shop to do my collection where the girl behind the counter just kept answering the phone and ignoring the que. When i finally collected my order the cable (cut to 1m lengths) has to be ordered from Germany! Surely you can keep rolls of cable in the warehouse. I was offered a 30m drum. If I'd known you'd let me down i would have just gone to maplins which is on the way. They do keep cable. In every store not just 1 country.

Normally, "Rapid" Electronics lives up to its name. Unfortunately not this time. Took 3 days to receive urgent package!

Despite the proud boast of 'same day dispatch' and the excessive over-the-top delivery charge for a tiny parcel, it still took five days to arrive. not very impressive, especially as you're only 70 miles away!

Rapid has been good in the past. Problem this time was that an item went "discontinued" after I had ordered and paid for it. It took several emails to get Rapid to acknowledge this and they still have not said that the cost+VAT will be refunded automatically.

Online logistics were very good. However, the Rolson booklights are useless: the light is not strong enough and does not cover the whole surface of a paperback page. Your advertisement is misleading and I wasted my money.

Delivery was fast, and the paper I ordered was very reasonably priced. I would have been pleased with my purchase if it had either been properly packaged e.g. wrapped in plastic or if deliverer had obeyed my instructions re leaving package if no one in. It was actually left in a puddle of water, and as the contents were paper and the wrapping was cardboard, the paper inside was completely damaged by being wetted.

Lots of back-order dates keep getting moved further back, leading to not knowing when the part(s) will arrive, if ever.

I'm very happy that our delivery was delivered the same week as we ordered. Only issue was that the delivery man only 'dropped it off' and left it as it was. We then had to unload it and deal with the wooden pallet etc. Many thanks, Marketa

I would have kept quite but as you have asked for feedback I shall give some. I'm not impressed by the delivery of the order. Some of the parts were described as in stock and ready for dispatch on the Tuesday. When I inquired I was told these parts had been dispatched on the Thursday and when the parcel arrived on the following Monday it had a Friday postmark. And all this even though I had paid for next day delivery. I need to re-align my expectations from Rapid Electronics.

After 4 attempts to register for 'free' Genie software (finally .exe provided by Rapid) the installation fails. Genie support will not respond with assistance. Retraction: The link was finally found in my spam folder, why? Was not visible on my mobile. Genie support is still non-responsive. Todays download actually got by the error 1619 problem.

Wanted spare keys for common key radial pin key switch. Ordered them but they were for an old stock keyswitch that was discontinued. Ok I ordered the wrong one but it should have been clearer on website. The current model has over 2 month lead time, so no use. Also, P&P normally free with my usual supplier. Poor range / availability & P&P charges, not very impressed.

I haven't received my items yet. The delivery driver phoned me but was unable to hold a conversation as his English language skills were so poor. Therefore I am still waiting.

Most of my order arrived very quickly but I'm still waiting for one item which was supposed to be in stock in a European distribution point. A week on and I still haven't received it. Not very impressive.
