“RESEALED MY NEW BATH AND TILES TERRIBLE JOB WHICH I PAID WELL OVER THE ODDS FOR. LEAKS THROUGH BATHROOM CEILING INTO KITCHEM. CRACKED TILES AROUND THE BATH AND GROUT LEFT EVERYWHERE ALL OVER THE WALLS AND MY POLISHED WOODEN FLOOR QAWFUL JOB DONE BY AMATEURS AVOID AT ALL COSTS ! MUCH BETTER SITES TO USE”

“They came, the son and father. They got on with the jog of giving me new fencing and were quite helpful but they missed one fence out saying they would come back on Wednesday but as we see later Wednesday never came. As I trusted them I offered my cheque but the father said he does not accept cheques, only cash. Although I was taken aback but pleased with their work I accepted the offer of his son taking me down to town to draw out the money causing me some problems along the way.By then being 74 I was under a bit of stress. When we were finally back at my house I sorted the money out with them. Before I had got back my breath they disappeared with the money without giving me a receipt. they never came back on Wednesday so I rung them up and they replied promising a Friday visit which again never materialised the same of further visit offers.. I have been extremely disappointed with their behavior.”

“Hired Allan pugh a so called painter and decorator through rated people . He gave us a quote to paint our kitchen and utility room tried to charge us extra for a small amount of filling which was included in the original quote. Eventually asked him to leave. The work he did was very poor when I gave a second coat the paint peeled off due to newly plaster walls not being prepared correctly. Gave a negative review to rated people but it was now published.”

“ashwood trees did not complete the job for the lady in Bitterne,Southampton that i do gardening for.They did not remove/clear away all the tree debris.They said they would call back "tomorrow" to finish the job but my Friend paid in full trusting him to keep his word but "tomorrow" hasnt arrived yet.They left tree debris all over my friends lawn.drive & garage roof which they have left holes in.They have left this lady very distaught especially as she is a full time carer for her husband so £200 paid for an uncompleted job is a disgrace.She has tried contacting Ashwood trees to no avail”

“I have been a builder/joiner for many years and decided to go onto rated people 8 months ago after cancelling my yellow pages ad, making this my main source of advertising and link to obtaining work. In the past 8 months I have had all 5* reviews and never had any negative feedback. On Friday 6th of May I received an email stating I was being removed from their company website has I didn't adhere to their high standards!! this come has quite a shock as I didn't understand why?? I have tried numerous times to speak to someone there and they will not speak to me. I feel very upset and disappointed with this and feel I should have an explanation. To top it off they have also been in contact with a customer who I was going to be doing a job for next this week, saying that they had removed me as I hadn't adhered to their high standards (embarrassing) and also giving my company and myself a really bad name and impression where are my rights as a tradesman......”

“My first and only experience of rated people has not been good. My partner put an "ad" on at 10pm one evening and at 9 am two men knocked on my door totally unannounced and had not gone through rated people (they got it from just my postcode and chanced their luck)! I am a middle aged lady with a toddler and had two men who I have no idea who/where from etc are and proceeded to give me an extortionate quote which was beyond ridiculous when the materials would have cost them £200 max and I was quoted 8k for not much work. I asked for something in writing or by e mail and it has never arrived but they continually hound me by text! These two builders from Doncaster were con men without a doubt and I was stupid to even let them over the threshold. This is a shame as i am currently waiting for a company from Nottingham to turn up at a specified time. He rang beforehand to arrange a time and date and I have been a able to research them on the Internet. Maybe it's just the two other guys who give honest builders a bad name.”

“i am a tradesmen,i have done many jobs on rated people and had full 5 star overall rating from all previous customers apart from the huge lead fees and cheap skate home-owners i got by using it,my account was getting used by some1 else (hacked)and when i called them up to question this they just didnt not help at all i verified my identity and original account details and even scanned them my driving license and bank and they would not alter the account as the name on account and bank details dont have to match which is so dodgy this allowed my bank details,address and details to still be used by the hacker they do not have the resources to check anything or brains just want money from lead fees do not use tradesmen and homeowners especially if the tradesmens details dont have to match anything very risky for every1”

“owain lloyd morris. malltraeth, anglesy (alleged builder) did a garage rebuild for us. The dimensions were much smaller than specified and the general workmanship was poor.”
