“Don't use Rated people, suspect leads are fake? Well you're absolutely right, leads are purchased from agencies and the same leads can be found on other similar sites, no one will ever answer and guess what, you won't be refunded either because you'll be told there's a 20% limit. The goal is to make as much money as possible, no one cares about the tradespeople they just care that you pay. Leads are never vetted so honestly its hard to tell whats genuine and what isn't. Also during the corona virus crisis they have been informed to not suspend payments under any circumstances because the business wil collapse...again showing that no one cares about the trades person. I know this as fact as my friend works for them. Poor company poor service...don't waste your pennies on this site”
“Found a tradesman off this site. Came round for a quote. Did some tinkering and said everything need to be replaced at £500. Thought it was a bit shady after googling it online. Got a second opinion and had it fixed for £80. Left a negative review based on the above and site admins removed it. What a joke. Like most people I don't mind paying for honest work but don't want to be ripped off either. This site is full of scam artists and they seem to encourage them too.”
“Stay away from Rated People if you're a tradesman. I belive 99% of their leads are fake... Customers don't answer phone, mails or messages. How we can do something about this scam?”
“If you are looking for a plumber and see the name K.M Plumbing and Heating....keep looking. This is the second time I had called them in. The first job was to refit a downstairs toilet, which was done to such a high standard I thought I would be safe to use them again. They recently fitted a bathroom for us, the finish is poor to say the least. We had them on the doorstep at 7am every morning and had to ask them to make it a bit later. They were very pleasant and clean workers but nothing makes up for the disappointing end product. Once the job was finished, Within a day we had to call them back as the taps were the wrong way round and there was a leak under the kitchen sink where they had been switching the water on and off. They brought a moronic child (apprentice) who managed to scorch the towels in the airing cupboard and leave plaster and solder on everything. Pipes have been fitted in the loft near the hatch and keep getting caught on the loft ladder. The shower had an invented fixingto keep it secure to the wall which they thought wouldn't hold and consequently came away from the wall. They came back and did a temporary fix, we have not seen them since. At the weekend I was hoovering the stairs and noticed plaster on the floor right under the bathroom. No surprises there, we have a leak under the bath which must have been there some time as its bringing the ceiling down. This substandard comedy of errors cost the princely sum of £4000. Be advised dont use them!! I said I wouldn't do this but after saving for 2 years and borrowing for the rest to have the job done I am beyond disappointed. I am reticent to call them back again to put things right as they will just mess something else up and cost me more money. Unable to give a no star rating.”
“Awful for tradesman! Do not bother wasting your money and time with quoting. 99% of the homeowners on there are time wasters and want everything done for nothing. Rated people are no help with refunding on your credit I would definitely find another site for leads. It seems there is many CHEAP tradesman that are jack of all’s tradesman master of none on it. Avoid 100%.”
“Avoid!!! Avoid!!! Avoid!!!
The worse company ever. No mater you are a home owner or trader. They gonna rip you off any way. It Is a scam. Some one should report them to the authorities.”
“I was a member for about a year and a half. I wasn't sent any information that the contract would renew for another year automatically. I wanted to cancel with a 30 day notice, just to be told that I owe the remaining fees for half a year. Avoid these scammers if you're a trader.”
“I’m a gas safe registered engineer. I signed up with Rated People thinking I’d get some quality leads. I had to buy a months leads from a dodgy sales guy and they sign you up for a years contract. Just one week in I’ve realised it’s not worth it for quality tradespeople. Most leads are people just looking for a Qoute and every job you express an interest in you have to pay. Also many customers don’t even bother answering your Qoute, text or phone calls. I’ve used all the credit after a week and only got 2 jobs. Waste of money, I’m still in cooling off period so will be cancelling tomorrow.”
“I have now had 2 bad experiences with rated people. The first was a "plumber" who left me with a bared live cable wrapped in electrical tape.
He then returned half the money if I promised not to leave a bad review.
The second was a roofer who assumed because he had paid to give me a quote the job was his! He has now become abusive towards me by text messages.
Rated people ! My arse .”
“Stay away from rated people!!!!
Fake posted leads, even if you don't get it touch with the home owners you will lose the money you have paid for the leads. You don't make any money with them. You only have to pay and pay again. For one year you are not allowed to cancel your contact and you still have to pay every month. Don't be fooled like me.”
“Rated people are untrustworthy. Please treat Rated people with caution. I posted a job with them earlier this year (2020). A 'tradesperson' called James from Pro Garden Refurbishments recommended by them came to my house on the day the job was posted and quoted me a fee for the job (manufacturing and fitting of a door grill). The tradesperson asked for a 25% deposit so that he could start manufacturing the grill. I transferred him the money via a BACs payment. We then arranged for him to come the following week to fit the grill. He phoned on the day he was supposed to be coming saying that the grill wasn't ready and that he would be in contact with me when it is. He didn't get in contact with me. I phoned him and then we arranged another date for him to come and fit the grill. On the morning he was supposed to come to do the work a lady called Carol phoned and said that James was unable to attend because his wife had gone into labour and that somebody else would be coming to fit the grill later on the same day. No one came. Five weeks later James is not answering his phone and rated people have been extremely unhelpful. Rated people seem to pride themselves on how well they vet there tradespersons. Well, they have a con artist associated with them who has taken my money without doing any work at all. Rated people are a disgrace.”
“T&J garden work! They ripped me off.300pounds done nothing for it ,it worked out at 100pounds per hour.Th filled my council garden waste bon with gravel that i can no longer move,Also broke the wheel on this bin”
“Actually should be no stars.
Arranged for a plumber to come round that contacted us through the site charged us for call out and done some work.
We also paid him for a part that he said we needed and had to order.
Trusted him as we thoughts that going through the site meant he had been checked out.
He caused major damage to our house after causing boiling water to leak after not connected pipes right.
He did not respond to any of our calls or emails done a runner with our money and rated people did not want to know.
They just told us he has been removed from there database.
They also could not pass any information on him due to GDPR.
So completely ripped of and left with damage.”
“Where do I start I am a tradesman that has been with you from the beginning. There seems to be no loyalty for that just a kick in the teeth every time! Inflated prices for jobs that don’t exist! Hardly any jobs in Jan and Feb and the jobs you let people post are ludicrous and never vetted! I pay good money to you for Mickey Mouse type jobs! I’m not bob a job I am a professional painter decorator and builder! I’m sick of seeing jobs saying! My wife bodged up painting the kitchen so I want someone to finish it for £90! Absolute disgrace!”
“OK, After 10 years of being a member of Rated People as a Trade, its time for a giving them review! Let's start with positives than unfortunately for them are totally covered by negative and that why one star from me as scale it's not from 1-100 stars. I think after that long time I have the right to comment on them.
Positives:
1. Absolutely amazing website and the app are done by professionals, easy to navigate, quickly responding with great design and coloristic.
2. Great idea of running a business.
Negatives:
1. Rated People team will not remove customer comments from your account even if its obsessive, vulgar, not fair, simply criminal and racists.
2. Hundreds of false leads that cost between £10-60 each.
3. Extending contracts without informing trade.
I have done around 500 jobs in total using just Rated People site for 10 years' time. I have spent thousands of pounds on the leads and earned around £70k only as 90 percent of the customers from that website looking for a bargain and not professionals that they can't afford. If I would start my business one more time, then all my investments would go into SEO and organic website positioning that is far more efficient with getting a job.
It's very sad that after 10 years of working with them, they can treat you in a very bad and unfair way. They decided to lay, ignore and keep the side of racist and someone that promoting criminality behavior using swearing language and threatening language on trade public profile, that is running under name and surname.

“Have been a tradesman client with them for years.
You buy a job (on average over £20) and then hope that the job is genuine. Once a lady called Nadia posted a job for which I paid £42.00. After emailing her several times and calling(also several times with leaving voicemails) I got no response. The worst thing was when the voicemail message from the number supplied starts it says in a young deep male voice "Yo, what's up" So it makes me think that they fabricated this job just to get people to spend money. And they have this policy that they wouldn't give you a refund, so you feel cheated.”
“I submitted well specified jobs on several occasions for work in several different locations and didn't receive any interest from any traders at any time.
I have now done background reading on the business model of the site and if appears there are fundamental issues of trust from traders and clients alike, which would explain the lack of interest in my jobs.
In summary, Rated People promised quotes and failed to deliver, thereby delaying the start of my jobs.”
“The last two times that I used Rated People I only received 1 response for each of the two jobs I posted. In both cases the respondents to these two posted jobs were very quick to turn up and quote a discounted price provided they could start the job immediately (The reason given being they already working in the area or had some 'spare time' between one job ending and another job starting!) Both traders came recommended according to reviews on Rated People's site. In both cases there were problems with keeping to initial quotes for the work after it commenced and in one case the tradesmen were threatening and abusive. Although I have used Rated People successfully on a number of occasions I shall no longer be using their services since I do not believe they vet tradesmen effectively and I believe that some reviews posted may be bogus. I also hear from trades people that they pay excessively to 'buy' these jobs from Rated People which may also serve as an impediment to the quality of the work they subsequently provide. I shall now rely on word of mouth recommendations from local people when deciding to employ tradespeople.”
“Let’s put it simple ;Rated people always always somehow finds a new way to rip off poor tradesmen ,Also they really hate in replying to tradesmen especially when it comes to dealing with bogus leads etc .So rated people needs to work on those issues for the genuine traders .thats the only reason tradesmen have lost their interest in it ..”
