Overall: We had a very relaxing time at Piccola Torre 5 and particularly liked our private terrace overlooking the vineyards and pool. Enjoyed Most: The apartment was very comfortable and there was nothing we needed. Our living room opened on to a private balcony and we used this area whenever we were home. We loved it and it was private. Enjoyed Least: The double bed was very short. Our feet stuck out the end and the shower was very compact. Surrounding Area: I loved the little village of Panzano and we often stopped for a glass of wine in the square in the late afternoon. The local supermarket had everything we needed and they were very friendly. Nearby Events or Locales: It was quite a long walk to Panzano and mostly up hill. OK if you were very fit, but we chose to drive. Tips or Restaurants: Greve is another local town, however when we were there all the restaurants were closed so we didn't get to sample the restaurants. We did eat at a restaurant in Panzano on our first night.

Overall: We enjoyed the property very much. Incomparable views. Amenities were very good and the pool is nice, even though we did not use it. You can have a special dinner prepared for you if you wish, wine abundant. We took side trips to Florence, Siena, Cinque Terre, etc. Enjoyed Most: Quiet. Enjoyed Least: Interior steps. Surrounding Area: Panzano for market, Greve for shops. Nearby Events or Locales: Panzano, a hike of some note. Tips or Restaurants: La Cantinetta do Rignana, outstanding restaurant for those who 'venture down the road'. Directions: We used GPS. Check In Out: Straightforward and warm.

Overall: Very nice. Enjoyed Most: The view. Enjoyed Least: The driveway was difficult to navigate. Surrounding Area: The area is beautiful. Nearby Events or Locales: Red Hook - not within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Loved two places to eat - Pie Whole and Ocean Breeze Directions: Someone met us.

Overall: Very lovely. Enjoyed Most: Elevator, great location for church and other museums. Enjoyed Least: No view. My bedroom window was very small and looked onto pipes. Surrounding Area: Close to food shopping and outdoor areas to eat. Nearby Events or Locales: In center of city, so we did take a bus. We went to Fiesole to see the Roman ruins. Tips or Restaurants: The manager provided some names of good places to eat. I enjoyed going to the market and buying fresh food and was able to dine at home as kitchen has a good supply of dishes etc. Directions: No GPS; just used our map. Check In Out: Be prepared to have additional costs if you use air conditioning; it will be deducted from you deposit.

Overall: We enjoyed being in the city. Enjoyed Most: The fun of being on the Piazza Santa Croce. Enjoyed Least: The noise from the kids at 3:00 am. Back bedrooms hot. Utilities expensive. Surrounding Area: All that the city had to offer Tips or Restaurants: Frommers top 6 restaurants were great.

Overall: Very good. Enjoyed Most: Location in historic district in Florence. View from the apartment verlooking Santa Croce, and the Duomo. Surrounding Area: Easy walking to more local spots for eating, market, and tourist spots were no more than 15 minutes to about anything. The book the property manager left us had great restaurant and wine shop recommendations. The property manager was very helpful on any requests we had. (printing things, etc.) Nearby Events or Locales: Heart of Florence. Everything was walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Make sure you have credit cards with chips for use in Europe. Also have your PIN handy as many kiosks (train station) require that in order to buy tickets electronically. Directions: Be clear that the entrance is off the piazza Santa Croce (south side). When using Google maps, it shows the building, but it's not clear on where entrance is located. Check In Out: Make sure you set your phone up for international dialing, and know how to dial the number for the property manager when you arrive. (You don't need the country code up front in Italy, but you might need the city code).

Overall: I would definitely rent this particular property. It was well appointed, well located, and the views were awesome. Aside from the noise and the mosquites, a phenomenal apartment and a phenomenal Italy experience! Enjoyed Most: The spacious floor plan, roof top terrace and location with in the city of Florence Enjoyed Least: Santa Croce becomes "Party Central" starting at about 1:00pm and continues until sun up. Bongo drums, soccer games, partying and screaming. We couldn't figure out how to turn on the AC until the last 3 days. Once we did that, the problem was solved. Also, lots of mosquites. Again, closing the windows and turning on the AC solved the problem. Be sure to ask how to operate the AC and where the units are located. Surrounding Area: The walking distance to everything! Tips or Restaurants: Definitely the need to bring mosquito repellent and ear plugs if you don't want to use the AC. The Standa market, which is just 3 blocks away, was a great supermarket and 2 restaurants that we liked a lot were the Open Bar restaurant south of the Arno, close to the Ponte Vecchio, and also Santa Croce Pizzeria across the square was fantastic.

Overall: Overall this is a fabulous apartment, well-appointed and within walking distance to most major sites and the train station. Enjoyed Most: With its own terrace, the penthouse apartment was uniquely romantic. Enjoyed Least: It was a surprise to us that the Santa Croce Piazza (the entire piazza) was transformed into an outdoor concert venue for a 20 night stand of Italy's favorite actor, Roberto Benigni. His performance of Dante went on every night for our entire stay. This would have been nice to know. Surrounding Area: Easy access to everything we wanted to see, eat or buy.

Overall: I liked our apartment a lot. Plenty of space, lots of natural light, well-equipped kitchen. The location was great. Enjoyed Most: We had lots of room to spread out. Enjoyed Least: It was drafty, but with the high ceilings. I don't know how you'd avoid that. Surrounding Area: We were close to the Arno and great restaurants. The Santa Croce church was right outside our door. Tips or Restaurants: You don't need to bring anything; everything you need is already there.

Overall: Fantastic. Good communication with owner made a pleasant experience. Enjoyed Most: You can't beat the location. And many bathrooms made it fast for all to get ready. Very spacious property. Enjoyed Least: WiFi password was hard to read. And the drains for the showers in the bathroom were very slow. Surrounding Area: Love the access to shopping, restaurants and piazzas. Nearby Events or Locales: We walked around Rome and its surrounding with no problems and we did a couple day trips via train. Tips or Restaurants: Adapters. We liked Edy off Via Babuino and Alla Rampa near the Piazza Spagna. Directions: No need for a GPS - very easy to find. Check In Out: The key holder met us when we arrived and went over the details. Was an easy process.

Overall: The on-site welcome and orientation to the apartment is exceptionally gracious. It is clear that they want the rental clients to have a wonderful stay in their properties and are committed to provide quality service. Enjoyed Most: The apartment was charming and had all the necessities. The central location is hard to beat. The apartment is small, as expected, but the efficient arrangement of closet space and the corner kitchen made it feel larger. Enjoyed Least: The shower provided just a dribble of water but it was not enough of a problem that I regret staying there. The apartment is on the 4th floor so water pressure in an older building may have been to blame. Surrounding Area: The neighborhood has everything one needs in a short walk. There is a laundry where clothes are washed and dried by weight so the lack of a washing machine was not a problem and the coin laundry is very close. The people in the neighborhood are very friendly and recognize you quickly as a a "longer term" resident rather than a two-day tourist. Nearby Events or Locales: This apartment is right in the center of Florence. Tips or Restaurants: The apartment has everything necessary. There are many excellent nearby restaurants. I am particularly fond of the family run Trattoria Nella in Via delle Terme, Cinghiale Bianco in the Oltrarno in Via San Jacopo and Ristorante Paoli in Via dei Tavolini. I love having a coffee and reading newspapers at the old literary caffe Le Giubbe Rosse in Piazza della Repubblica. Check In Out: They provided a thorough orientation to the property and demonstrated how to work everything.

Overall: The air conditioners were not working when we arrived and it was unbearably hot. Enjoyed Most: Location! Enjoyed Least: Once the air conditioner was fixed, it leaked water. Surrounding Area: The shopping and sightseeing. Nearby Events or Locales: Loved everything in the area. Tips or Restaurants: We loved Quatro Leone!

Overall: Better than average! We started off with a little construction noise upstairs and were dismayed, but the management was very good about postponing work for a month or so! It should not be a factor at this point (summer, 2012). The building is in a fairly quiet location. We miss hearing the church bells in the distance! Occasionally people can be heard as they walk home after imbibing too much but nothing compared to most rentals located in piazzas. It is generally very quiet. The apartment is on the top (fifth) floor. The view of the Uffizi museum and gallery is splendid! Enjoyed Most: Location location location! The view out the window of Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery, and the Arno River is terrific, although you do have to open the window and crane your head out a bit to see the bridge. Took lots of great pictures from the apartment. The WiFi was always reliable. Mauro the portiere in the lobby is always cheerful and Giuseppe, the handyman, was too. Enjoyed Least: The third bedroom has small twin beds--really only good for very small adults or children. I used the closets and drawers for my clothes, etc. The television had only a few English Channels (all news), and also typical of Italy, there is no clothes dryer but they have a drying rack we kept by the kitchen window. Surrounding Area: The views are splendid and the location is greatly convenient to public transportation, the grocery store, restaurants and our favorite local hairdresser (Enzo and Luigi at Mauro near the Ponte Vecchio) and cappuccino place. A new smoothie place opened near our building. On Via Bardi just behind our apartment there is an elevator that takes you up one flight toward the Villa Bardini. You walk uphill through the garden the rest of the way and there's a little cafe there and great views. Nearby Events or Locales: We were in the heart of the historic district of Florence on the Oltrarno. (The other side of the Arno from the Duomo). We had a car (super expensive to park and you can't drive in most of Florence so we don't recommend one) but it was nice to drive out to Greve in Chianti and to the coast. We used the car for major grocery shopping at the superstore Esselunga which had a wonderful variety. Tips or Restaurants: I will have to add this information later but for sure have Sunday brunch a few blocks away at Il Rifrullo. Very local and nice people. You can walk up the stairs to the Piazzale Michelango from there. Cammillo's nearby is good as well, and offers gluten-free pasta. We had a hard time changing dollars and travelers checks at banks (some days they'll exchange money, some days they won't!) so suggest you use ATM's. If you need a larger amount use the bank across the street from the Pitti Palace nearby. Directions: You can have their driver Alessio pick you up from the airport or any taxi will find the address. There are always taxis at the airport. By the way, when you use the apartment phone to call a taxi, they know your address automatically and the cabs always came within 3 to 4 minutes! They confirm the address "Lungarno Torrigiani 33 (or Trenta -tre)" and then they tell you how long and the taxi number that will pick you up. Check In Out: I already suggested they have better instructions for the dishwasher and washing machine during check-in. Just put the washing machine on number 6!

Overall: We had a great time and would highly recommend it to others. Enjoyed Most: Location, the view and the terrace. Enjoyed Least: Minor irritants were the smell from the sewer vent and the sound of the building generator. Surrounding Area: Being slightly off the beaten tourist path but still close to everything. Tips or Restaurants: The kitchen was better stocked than we expected. We made frequent trips to the Magi grocer nearby.

Overall: This is a delightful apartment in a lovely building on the Arno, overlooking Florence. Enjoyed Most: It has a spectacular view of Florence from the living room and the master bedroom, and it's conveniently situated near the Ponte Vecchio. Enjoyed Least: We knew there would be no dryer, which is typical in Italy, and that was sometimes inconvenient. Surrounding Area: We've never stayed on the Oltrano side of Florence, and it was wonderful. We got to know the shop keepers, so we felt like we were part of a neighborhood, yet it was a quick walk to all the attractions. Nearby Events or Locales: Everything was within a short walking distance. We've been to Italy many times, and this was our first experience renting an apartment, and it was simply great. Tips or Restaurants: The owners make life easy. The kitchen is well stocked, and all supplies are within easy walking distance. There is also a very good maid service available.

Overall: The location was perfect for us away from the heart and very busy part of Florence, but perhaps not so good for first-time visitors who might want to be in the historic center. Enjoyed Most: The roof top view of the city and river. Enjoyed Least: The lack of windows and natural light. Surrounding Area: Lots of little restaurants, with "Zeb" being a great find on Yelp. Tips or Restaurants: Good for a couple with children as the other bedrooms were small and not appropriate to share with another couple. Directions: It was an easy taxi ride from the train station but a bit of a long walk with luggage. Check In Out: No issues, as they were very gracious and helpful

Overall: I loved the property, and can't wait to return. Enjoyed Most: It was in a very good location and was roomy enough for the two of us. Enjoyed Least: The amount of the cleaning charge at the end of the stay seemed high. Surrounding Area: It was on a nice, quiet street, but only a block away from the ViaTornabuoni, the 5th Avenue of Florence. There were also food markets around the corner. Nearby Events or Locales: Fiesole was only a bus ride away. And Pisa and Arezzo were about an hour train ride. Tips or Restaurants: The apartment was well-equipped. I wish that I had brought zip-lock bags for any leftovers. I would suggest leaving additional time for get to the apartment, in the case of train strikes, etc. Check In Out: The people were very nice and informative.

Enjoyed Most: 1. The proximity of the property to all places of interest. Everything was within walking distance.2. The trompe-l'oeil decorations on the walls and doors were fascinating.3. The photographs of the property on your website don't do it justice.4. Laura and Maria were extremely helpful at all times. Enjoyed Least: Once natural daylight had gone it was very dark in all rooms because ofinsufficient artificial lighting. Surrounding Area: 1. The proximity of small food shops.2. The superb quality of the fresh food in the central market. 3. Identifying locations in Florence that were used in the film 'Hannibal'. Tips or Restaurants: 1. Learn some Italian.2. Buy your drinking water.3. Best restaurants - Cantinetta Antinori, 3 minutes away. Expensive but worth it. and Restaurant Aurora, high up in Fiesole - worth the 20 minute bus ride. Directions: We arrived by taxi from Florence airport and were met on the steps of the property by Laura, who gave us a very warm and friendly welcome. Check In Out: On check-out, Maria allowed us to leave all our luggage in her office until it was time for us to go to the airport.
