Overall: This is a very enjoyable apartment - very comfortable. Enjoyed Most: The palazzo in which the apartment is located is a lovely building. The apartment itself is spacious and well appointed. It also has good storage space and is well organized for everyday living. Surrounding Area: The apartment is in an ideal location in Florence. It is closely located to all major sites and yet is on a very quiet, peaceful street. There are wonderful small shops nearby for groceries, etc. There is also a good gym within a few blocks. Tips or Restaurants: Santo Bevitore on via Santo Spirito; I 13 Gobbi on via Porcellana

Overall: We had a great time staying in this apartment and highly recommend it. Enjoyed Most: The location of this place was really great. It is situated along a nice street with restaurants and shops. Very quiet and nice view as well. Enjoyed Least: Apartment was great overall. My only complaint would be that there was not a full set of linens for the roll-away bed. As shown in the photos, the kitchen is galley style in a cabinet and did not include an oven. However, it was adequately stocked with dishes, glasses etc. and had everything we needed to prepare a simple dinner. Surrounding Area: We loved the location as we could walk everywhere. The Coliseum, Forum, and Trastevere are all a short walk. Tips or Restaurants: Bring a reading light or flashlight, as lighting is a little dim in the place. We brought some hand towels which proved useful as apartment was only stocked with bath towels. Also, if you plan to use the sofa bed, there was not a full set of sheets, pillows etc. As far as restaurants, there are a few on the same street as the apartment that are pretty good - they really push the fried artichokes..a friend recommended Vecchia Roma one block north of the apartment and it was excellent - an elegant kind of old-school place. Also, we found a restaurant called Le Mani in Pasta in Trastevere fairly close to the apartment that was awesome - casual small place but great. Directions: Our Rentvillas Travel Advisor offered to arrange airport transportation and that was a good move as driver was waiting for us at the airport. The property manager in Rome also arranged a driver for airport transportation on our return and that went off without a hitch as well. Check In Out: An agent for the property manager met us on arrival and was very friendly and helpful.

Overall: This was a great choice for our family. Enjoyed Most: We loved eating all our meals outdoors. The pool was refreshing after our hot and sometimes dusty day trips. The proximity to town can't be beat. Enjoyed Least: The phone kept ringing every few minutes at times, apparently because of marketing calls. We had to take it off the hook. The internet cut out once, but the property manager fixed it that day. Surrounding Area: We felt it was accessible to so many nice areas to visit: les Baux, Avignon, Arles, Roussillon, the village of Bories, and many more. Nearby Events or Locales: St Remy de Provence was the closest town, definitely within walking distance, roughly 5 min. It's a great town, large enough to have a decent grocery store and interesting places to visit: Glanum, Sanitarium where Van Gogh lived the last year of his life, but small enough to be easily navigable. Tips or Restaurants: There are two restaurants in nearby Paradou that we'd recommend: Le Petit Bistro and Bistrot Paradou. Check In Out: The property managers were very nice, friendly, helpful, available during the week and prompt when we were ready to check out.

Overall: Great location and having access to nearby hotel personnel a definite plus. Enjoyed Most: Location and comfortable beds. Enjoyed Least: Small bathroom. Surrounding Area: Nearby supermarket/restaurants and walking distance to many of the attractions. Tips or Restaurants: Bring your most comfortable walking shoes and take advantage of hotel concierge. Directions: RentVillas scheduled car service pick up which was very convenient. Check In Out: Very friendly staff and smooth process.

Overall: We enjoyed staying at Mulino sul Colle quite a bit. The property is outside the larger town of Arezzo on a hillside in an olive grove. Enjoyed Most: We loved the outside terrace. It had a great view of a church with ringing bells, you could hear the creek and see the countryside. Enjoyed Least: Lots of stairs! We were traveling with older family members who grew tired of climbing up and down stairs even to use a bathroom. The stairs are made of stone and are very steep. Even after reading the summary of the property I wasn't expecting the number and steepness of stairs. Surrounding Area: It was very peaceful. The closest store is several km, as well as the closest restaurants. It is a great location if you want to use the train from Arezzo into Rome and or Florence. We took the high-speed train to Rome and it only took 1.25 hours! Nearby Events or Locales: The closest town is Olmo, I think. It is certainly not within walking distance. You would need a car to enjoy this property and the surrounding areas. Tips or Restaurants: The owner has stocked the house with many of the things you would expect to have to bring for a rental home: dish soap, laundry soap, sponges, spices, oils, etc. You really only need to bring your clothes and the food you wish to eat. Directions: We used GPS to get to the property.

Overall: We had a great time in Rome. Hassen, the keeper of the keys, was an excellent source of information and very personable. Enjoyed Most: The location is great. It is very close to the Coliseum and the metro station. The apartment is very cute and attractively decorated. It is very quiet. Enjoyed Least: It is dark inside as there is virtually no exterior light. It is a bit like a little cave. There is a very nice patio outside the door but it was too cold for us to take advantage of it. The apartment was damp. Surrounding Area: We were able to walk to many attractions and the metro was nearby and easy to use. Tips or Restaurants: Bring good walking shoes as the streets are mostly cobble stone. Directions: We took a train to Rome and then took a taxi to the apartment. Check In Out: Hassen was a wonderful help, met us promptly and gave us great information.

Enjoyed Most: Being on a working farm with wine and olive oil - and the history of the place. Very nice owners. Enjoyed Least: Stairs, we had one old person that had trouble with the steps. Surrounding Area: Everything. Nearby Events or Locales: Monteriggioni, yes we walked there once. Tips or Restaurants: All of the food in Monteriggioni was good, and not too expensive.

Overall: Our stay was wonderful and we especially liked the pool and the view. Enjoyed Most: The pool and view. Enjoyed Least: The bedrooms were warm. Fans would have helped. Surrounding Area: Easy access to Siena, Volterra, and Florence. Nearby Events or Locales: Monteriggioni; yes, it's within walking distance.

Overall: Great size property with lots of options for a big group. Enjoyed Most: Size was great and the location was peaceful yet still close to the beach. Enjoyed Least: The kitchen is very small for a big group and the property really needs air conditioning. It seems it would be a small investment that would add greatly to the comfort as on several days the heat was unbearable, particularly for those with small children. Surrounding Area: The beach was easy to get to and great for families. Check In Out: Very smooth process. Could not be faulted.

Overall: This is a wonderful cottage. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate, so we had much rain. The cottage is very cozy which made it perfect for a wet, cold weather trip. Enjoyed Most: The garden. Surrounding Area: Beautiful countryside and villages. Everyone is very friendly. Nearby Events or Locales: You are in a wonderful small town. Tips or Restaurants: We cooked all our meals in the house so no recommendations for restaurants. Check In Out: Apparently, it is important to contact the key holder by phone. We thought that we had given our arrival information clearly enough so that this would not be a problem. We did meet the key holder a bit by accident, which was perfect. They are very nice.

Overall: Very positive! Lovely home, great weather, with a bit of air conditioning available if it got extra hot. Quiet and peaceful, with good basic swimming pool. All basic amenities within an easy walk. Lovely trails to hike/run nearby. Enjoyed Most: Location was a very good thing about the property. Enjoyed Least: A few very small things: door latches were "quaint" but rather noisy to operate, annoying when others are sleeping. Knives were a bit dull... Hedge near the pool was a bit too tall, putting too much of the pool in the shade. But you can tell this is very nit-picky stuff. Surrounding Area: Wilderness trails on foot. We walked to Gordes twice, ran to Langes, many other places. Drove to many (5? could have done 10?) lovely villages for markets or dinner. Nearby Events or Locales: We were basically right in Cabriere d'Avignon, a small town, 100 meters from groceries and butcher and baker. Lagnes was another walkable small town, but we only walked ran there for exercise, not for purchases. Tips or Restaurants: Lovely restaurant in Isle sur la Sorgue called Le Vivier ("the pool"). In an odd location from the entry, but right on the river water. We ate there twice. Directions: Finding the property is easy. Finding the owner's place (which is where we were told to go first) was slightly harder. Understanding the one way streets is a bit tricky the first day. Check In Out: M. Truc doesn't speak much (or any?) English (which was okay as we have enough French) but he is a delightful man, very helpful. All the villagers are pretty friendly. There is a parking area in the property, but it's gated and rather tight, even with a small car, and a nuisance to use on regular basis. More parking clarity would be useful.

Overall: We had a great time. The view was great! Reception was wonderful and extremely helpful, alway a smile. Service was quick and efficient. We found the villa to be a good size and to suit the needs of four people quite well. We were cool one rainy day and reception was quick to get us set up with a beautiful fire in the upstairs fireplace. Enjoyed Most: The view! The grounds, the ancient fortress and the privacy it provided. Enjoyed Least: Beds were a little hard and uncomfortable. Kitchen counter really needed to be either replaced or totally refurbished. Washing machine did not work particularly well. The area rugs were quite dusty and we had to roll them up and store them away because of allergies. Mosquitoes were bad as the grass outside was left pretty long throughout our stay so we couldn't sit out as much as we wanted. Surrounding Area: The history, beauty, and culture that is Tuscany. The food, the wine, the art and architecture, museums, restaurants. Nearby Events or Locales: San Casciano was 6 km away and had a great grocery store. Tips or Restaurants: Bring bug spray. Directions: Used a GPS

Overall: Very good to excellent. Enjoyed Most: The view, peace and quiet, and the pool. The people at the reception were outstanding. Enjoyed Least: The sitting areas outside were not near to our apartment. Walls were not soundproof and we could hear other guests. WiFi was spotty at best, but we were warned about it in advance. Surrounding Area: Great access to all the major hill towns and only one half hour from the airport and Firenze. Nearby Events or Locales: Bargino; yes, but out of the question for senior citizens and therefore a car is a must. Tips or Restaurants: Buy Vape at the nearest supermarket or Coop for mosquitoes. Directions: Yes we had a GPS, but RentVillas directions were perfect and we got there without a hitch. Check In Out: No, as I said earlier, the reception people were outstanding and attentive to all of our needs/concerns.

Overall: The reception staff were exceptional in giving us ideas of where to eat, visit, and how to get there. Enjoyed Most: The pool area Enjoyed Least: The bathroom. It wasn't particularly clean on our arrival, the drains were blocked, and it was tiny. Surrounding Area: What is not to love? The scenery is picturebook and there is loads to see and do. Nearby Events or Locales: San Casciano - no. Tips or Restaurants: Il Fedino in Can Casciano is a great restaurant with super views. We were also amazed at the selection of produce available at the local supermarket - Coop. Directions: We used the physical address in our GPS. Check In Out: Very helpful staff.

Overall: Check-in and check-out was very smooth. Staff were wonderful and responded quickly to our inquiries and requests. Enjoyed Most: Grounds were lovely with spectacular views. It was well-situated near other small towns and the autostrada. Enjoyed Least: Second bathroom toilet was broken. There was no hot water in the shower. Editor's Note: All repairs have been completed. April, 2015. Surrounding Area: The surrounding area had spectacular views. The lovely town of San Casciano is nearby, with a large grocery and wine store. The Antinori Winery is a five minute drive away in Bargino, definitely worth a tour. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest town is Bargino. It would be quite a trek to walk there down a winding, narrow road. Tips or Restaurants: I would bring face cloths because towels are not changed during the week unless you ask. Also, flip flops as the stone floor is cold. For traditional, home-cooked Tuscan food, we really enjoyed Trattoria da Bule in Bargino. Nello in San Casciano was also very good with great service and friendly staff. Directions: The directions to the property were excellent, and once outside Florence, it was easy to find even if we didn't have a GPS. Otherwise, we found the GPS invaluable to find our way to other locations. Check In Out: There were absolutely no issues with check-in check-out.

Overall: We had a great experience and the keyholder was very helpful with any of our issues. Enjoyed Most: Sitting by the pool. Enjoyed Least: The fact that there were no screens on the windows in the bedroom. Surrounding Area: Spectacular scenery and wonderful wine. Tips or Restaurants: Ensure you have mosquito repellent for the night time. Da Bule, the town at the bottom of the hill, was a great restaurant and we had one of the most amazing desserts of our whole trip there.

Overall: Our overall experience was very good to excellent. The location is ideal for getting out and seeing Tuscany. The property is very well kept and the apartment was in great condition and very comfortable. Provided us the perfect "base camp" from which to explore. Enjoyed Most: We loved the history of the property and the location. You get peace and quiet and amazing views and yet are only a few minutes to major roadways/highways. Enjoyed Least: None of the windows have screens, which is very nice and provides unobstructed access to the views of the countryside, but we were eaten alive. We ended up having to keep all the windows completely closed all day and all night, which meant it was quiet warm inside the house. I recommend bringing mosquito netting. Surrounding Area: We loved heading out and finding gems along the way. For example, we headed out towards Tavernelle and found along the way an excellent multi-generational wine and olive oil producer, an amazing 12th century church and more. The small grocer in Bargino was convenient, and the restaurant next door was excellent. Nearby Events or Locales: Bargino is the nearest small town it isn't really walkable but is quite close with a car. You technically probably could walk there but it would be difficult as the home is off a busy roadway with no sidewalks that I saw, and is up a winding hill (i.e., so it wouldn't be an easy walk and not advisable for older people, etc.) Tips or Restaurants: Definitely bring insect repellent. I would also suggest hanging wet towels outside the windows on the ledge (most everyone else did this too), as the bathroom has a skylight but may not be warm enough to completely dry your towels each day. The property manager provided us a small booklet with their recommended restaurants--we tried several and found their list and suggestions to be very good! The restaurant in Bargino is quite good (especially the spaghetti olio!) There is a large grocery store within about a 15 minute or less drive. Directions: We did not use a GPS (we rented one with our car but it was set to Russian and neither we nor Hertz could figure out how to set it back to English or even Italian) and found the directions to be very good. The property was easy to find, and is market with signs. Signs are small, so you have to be watching, but they are there. Check In Out: Check in-out process was very easy. Lovely property managers who were very helpful.

Overall: This was a beautiful property and location. It was amazing and an experience to be remembered forever. Enjoyed Most: The view and the rustic atmosphere were superb, and the wine-tasting/castle tour was wonderful. The caretakers and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Additionally, the location was perfect for all of our day trips. We were able to see San Gimignano, Siena, Volterra, Greve, Radda and Florence with no more than an hour's drive (at the most). Enjoyed Least: There were some annoying bugs...but this is hard to avoid in a rustic dwelling. Surrounding Area: I don't know where to start. San Casciano was an inviting and charming nearby town. We loved the restaurant Cantinetta della'Nonna that was there. But the property is not far from any of the wonderful Tuscan towns. Nearby Events or Locales: San Casciano was the town that we were familiar with. It's about 5 minutes away driving, not walkable. Tips or Restaurants: The caretakers of the estate provide an excellent booklet of information that includes recommendations for restaurants.
