“Overall: This property is well situated and is quite comfortable for 2 couples. Enjoyed Most: I really liked the location and the layout of the villa. It worked well for 2 couples. Enjoyed Least: Although the kitchen was very roomy, it lacked some simple appliances, like a toaster oven. This made food preparation rather challenging. The living room could also use a couple additional chairs. Surrounding Area: The town of San Gimignano is at your fingertips so we had ample opportunity to really get familiar with the town. The information office in the square is most helpful. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest small town is Poggibonsi which is very easy to get to by bus. From there you can easily take the train to Florence or Siena for a day trip. Tips or Restaurants: The first cafe through the gates as you walk up to the square is wonderful stop for morning coffee or late afternoon wine. On Sunday evenings there was live music, which was a lot of fun. Check In Out: It all went very smoothly.”

“Overall: Onsight staff was helpful and the wines and olive oil were delicious....there is even a sketch of the house on one of labels called Spazzavento. Enjoyed Most: The view, tranquil setting, wildlife pheasant, wild boar, quail, proximity to charming Castellina in Chianti, ability to experience life on a working wine-olive oil estate, easy access to Tuscan hill towns, as well as Siena and Florence, were all highlights of our stay! Enjoyed Least: The beetles and ants...plus the beds weren't extremely comfortable. Surrounding Area: The house is in the heart of Chianti wine country and close to many picturesque hill towns. We enjoyed taking day trips to towns like Monteriggioni, Radda, Greve, Siena, Cortona, Volterra, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Arezzo and of course Florence. Nearby Events or Locales: Castellina in Chianti is the nearest town - about 6 minutes by car - and is a wonderful place to be near. The town is not only beautiful but has everything one could need - a market, smaller specialty markets, some good restaurants and delicious gelato! It is not within walking distance because of being at the top of a steep hill and on a road with no shoulder and FAST Italian drivers. Tips or Restaurants: Bring a portable music player, insect swatter, a sharp knife or two - the cutlery was duller than a butter knife!Two favorite restaurants Il Pozzo in Monteriggioni and La Vigne just outside of Radda in Chianti.Once at the house, ask the staff to arrange for "Dora" to cook a meal at the house - a trip highlight for sure!”

“Overall: Very good experience. Neat property, and location. About a full hour drive from Florence as we arrived via high speed train to Florence. Enjoyed Most: Great views, and very private. Enjoyed Least: The only real problem was the weather, as it turned cold right before we got there, and it stayed that way for the 6 days we were there. Consequently we incurred some discomfort as they are not prepared to heat the house which is quite large. Two small portable heaters is all they had, which means that the entire house was pretty cold especially at night. We also used the fireplace, however there was no flue in the chimney so the house became very smoky. Surrounding Area: Just a great area. Heart of the Chianti region so the wine tasting is just excellent. Also the small towns in the area are just wonderful, particularly Castellina In Chianti, it is very pretty, great restaurants, and charm. Nearby Events or Locales: Castellina In Chianti is about 5 km from the house. Tips or Restaurants: The issue of heat needs to be addressed is you are staying in the late fall as we did. None of the items would be an issue in warmer weather. Directions: We did use GPS, and the directions provided were also good.”

“Overall: The location of the property was perfect, the countryside around the property was lovely. Enjoyed Most: The kitchen was well equipped. Enjoyed Least: Lighting was lacking, especially in the kitchen area. A bench or hooks in the bathroom would be helpful. Surrounding Area: The fact that you were in the countryside and we had crops all around us. Tips or Restaurants: For the most part we ate at the Farmhouse.Toilet paper, soap, and dish detergent are a must. Directions: We did use a GPS.”

“Overall: Great! Enjoyed Most: The location was excellent. There is plenty of room in the apartment for 5 people. Enjoyed Least: The air conditioning units were not sufficient. Each of the three bedrooms had a free-standing unit; it was exceptionally hot in Rome and the units couldn't keep up. There is no A/C in the kitchen or living area. Surrounding Area: Great shopping and market right outside the apartment. Metro right around the corner; it was easy to get to and from all the sights. Directions: We took a taxi from the airport; other than that we used the metro. No problem with the directions. Check In Out: Property manager was very helpful - no issues.”

“Overall: Very good. Enjoyed Most: Living in a historic palazzo. Enjoyed Least: Stairs ( no elevator ). Surrounding Area: Everything - Siena is a beautiful city. “Overall: The property was more than fine, especially the boat where we spent most of our time. Enjoyed Most: The location which was glorious as well as the property owners who acted more like hosts than landlords. We thought they were wonderful and spent a day as well as a meal with them. The apartment itself has a fantastic view of the boardwalk frontage and the harbor with a nice square in front with a fountain. Enjoyed Least: The noise level, which in the cities in Italy honestly cannot be helped, althought the source of the noise here is the fountain and the people who congregate there. Surrounding Area: We spent most of our time on a boat out front with Pero and Alessandra who own and run the boat. Nearby Events or Locales: Boating.”

“Overall: So beautiful! Enjoyed our hosts and shared dinner with them. They graciously shared their home and herb garden. They also took us to the local pharmacy for medications and directed us to markets etc. Would certainly consider booking this property again. Enjoyed Most: Accommodations. Friendliness of hosts! Enjoyed Least: We felt rushed to vacate, even though we had booked for an additional day. Surrounding Area: Access to historical cities and regions. Friendliness of the people. Nearby Events or Locales: Proceno; not within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Very well furnished. Only really needed personal products and laundry products. Directions: We did use GPS to a point.”

“Overall: This is the third time we have rented from RentVillas. The properties always look just like the photos and we are always greeted warmly and given proper directions to use the villa. Enjoyed Most: The view! Enjoyed Least: The steps! They were really difficult in the beginning, especially dragging the luggage up but by the end they got a lot easier. I would recommend a working flashlight for after dark. Surrounding Area: Excellent location, could walk to a few restaurants and a grocery easily. We really liked the local spot Il Fornillo for pizza or a light bite. Cappuccinos and croissants were a quick walk up the hill. It was about a 20 minute down to the beach area for us. Nearby Events or Locales: Positano and yes, it was walkable. Only took a taxi once all week. The internal bus is right outside the door, but we never used it. Tips or Restaurants: Be sure and go to Next2. ( a five minute walk) We tried them all and it was definitely the top one! Directions: The driver took us right to the front steps. Check In Out: It worked great!”

“Overall: We had a very nice experience at the property. Enjoyed Most: We absolutely loved the private balcony. It was very spacious and had a magnificent view. Enjoyed Least: Climbing the steps to get to the property (83 steps).It would be very difficult for someone who isn't fit.Also, the light at the front door did not stay on, so it was dark at night when we climbed back up the steps on our return home. Surrounding Area: The town of Positano is very charming and all of the little towns around Positano are easy to get to by bus or boat and are worth visiting, especially Amalfi and Ravello. Nearby Events or Locales: The apartment is located in the town of Positano, walking distance to the charming central area near the beach. There is also a bus stop at the bottom of the stairs and the bus can take you to the central area. Tips or Restaurants: If you have a smartphone, get a flashlight app in order to see as you climb the stairs at night. If not, bring a small flash light.Most of the restaurants are in the central area. My favorite ones were in the hotels "Villa Franca", near the property, and "Le Sirenuse". Also the Hotel Positano near the property has a nice breakfast buffet. Directions: We had a driver but would have had a problem without GPS. Check In Out: Definitely ask for a porter to help carry the luggage up the stairs. It cost us 25 Euros but was well worth the price.”

“Overall: Our family of five really enjoyed our stay at Porthos. The apartment is in a nice area in the 6th, close to Le Bon Marche. It is close to several different Metro lines but we mainly used Duroc, which is about 5 mins walk away and gave easy access to most places we wanted to visit. There is a supermarket and several bakeries close by. The apartment has been renovated to a high standard and everything is provided. Just be aware that it is four flights up a narrow spiral staircase, but if you are reasobably fit it is highly recommended. Enjoyed Most: The location, high quality of the apartment and fittings. Surrounding Area: Nice area. Plenty of shops to explore. Easy walking distance to several attractions. Check In Out: Our arrival on the Eurostar was delayed by four hours but Arnaud was very accommodating. He was at the apartment to greet us when we eventually arrived and made a big effort to show us around and tell us about interesting things to do in the area. Much appreciated!”

“Overall: We had a great time! Enjoyed Most: The villa was beautiful and was equipped with everything we needed. Enjoyed Least: We were asked to pay for wood after we were originally told we could use it and they would bring more, although in the end, we were not required to pay. Surrounding Area: The restaurant that was located within 50M of the villa was fantastic meal, although it was a little more expensive than we were use too. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest small town of Montespertoli is 6 km away; therefore anyone renting the villa will need a vehicle. Tips or Restaurants: You definitely need to have a car at this property. Check In Out: The owners were very accommodating as we checked in on Sunday.”

“Overall: Very peaceful and quiet and close to many major wine areas. Enjoyed Most: The peace and quiet. Enjoyed Least: The flies and some of the art. We expected a country villa with traditional surroundings as depicted on the web site. What we got was a farmhouse, very nice, but filled with edgy, modern, non-farmhouse art. Surrounding Area: The people we met were amazing and very friendly and helpful. Nearby Events or Locales: Castlenuevo del Abate. Yes but we did not walk. Tips or Restaurants: Schedule a cooking class with Bruna and her translator Anna Lisa. They are an amazing team. The cooking class was the highlight of the visit.”

“Overall: We had a great time. There is a very nice restaurant nearby. It had a good menu with an excellent wine list and very friendly owner/manager. Enjoyed Most: The view and the facilities. Surrounding Area: The views, and traveling to other town. Tips or Restaurants: Take a GPS!! Go to Greve. There is a museum, with wine tasting nearby--good wine, food, and friendly staff. Check In Out: It was very easy and the owners were pleasant. Excellent cooks !!! Highly recommend their meal.”

“Overall: Very good. The place is a little isolated from restaurants and food shops but if you have independent transport it is fine. Cold weather meant heating was required. Generally, though, an excellent stay. Enjoyed Most: The property was very clean and well appointed. Large living areas and generous bathrooms were excellent. The surrounding countryside is magnificent and it is only an hour's drive from Rome. Enjoyed Least: The small single beds in most rooms were tiny and not wide enough for an adult. More blankets in cold weather would help. Surrounding Area: The views were spectacular and the air clean. Excellent walking country. Nearby Events or Locales: No town was within walking distance except a trattoria a kilometer away that was only open on some nights. Tips or Restaurants: Be prepared to cook your own food. There is a great open fireplace but no wood. Directions: A GPS helps because the roads are quite complicated. Check In Out: There was nobody there when we checked out. The key holder was available by phone. Check-in was smooth and easy.”

“Overall: Our overall experience was very positive. We had a great time whether we were relaxing by the villa or exploring a city or town on a day trip. The villa offers plenty of space for a group to relax and enjoy either quiet time, boisterous togetherness, or both! Enjoyed Most: The views, the sunsets, the quiet privacy, and the opportunity to live as an Italian for two weeks. Enjoyed Least: The WiFi was out the entire time we were there. Editor's Note: The WiFi was unavailable due to a storm; full service was restored the week following. The owner reimbursed 100 Euros for the inconvenience. Surrounding Area: The people, the history, the food, the wine, the scenery. Nearby Events or Locales: Rufina. It was not within walking distance at all. Tips or Restaurants: There is a bottega on Monte Giovi that is phenomenal for the food and the views. The road up, however, is very rough and rugged, but if you take it slowly, it is well worth the drive for the experience! Many of the things that others suggested bringing were provided (toilet paper, dish soap, etc.). I might suggest beach towels unless you want to pay 7 Euros per towel. Towels are not included. Directions: We did use a GPS but only for help getting out of Florence from the airport since there was a lot of traffic. Check In Out: Sonia at reception is awesome! She is very pleasant and eager to help. We read that the deposit had to be in cash but they took a credit card for our deposit.”

“Overall: We had a great time. Enjoyed Most: It was away from busy areas. Enjoyed Least: It was away from busy areas. Surrounding Area: The area was beautiful and good restaurants were easy to find. Directions: Our GPS worked fine. It is a must for all local travel. Check In Out: The owners were terrific. No problems coming or leaving.”

“Overall: Our overall experience was very good. It is a small space except for the lower bedroom which was quite large. But I'm sure by most standards it was quite roomy for a Paris apartment. The kitchen was of small/adequate size and appointment and everything was in good working order. The apartment is very attractively decorated with designer fabrics, etc. Enjoyed Most: The view of the Paris rooftops and the FULL ON Eiffel Tower was breathtaking and not to be believed. The Sacre Coeur, Louvre, and Invalide were also visible. The furnished roof deck was a huge bonus as we had very warm weather for October. Enjoyed Least: Everyone comments on the small spiral staircase and there is a reason. It is tortuously narrow and twisty. It requires two hands and two feet to be firmly in place for each step. I'm not sure what an option would be given the small space, so you just learn to be very careful and live with it. Surrounding Area: It is a lovely Parisian street of mostly art galleries and lively bistros. Within a few blocks, however, you have the Metro, St. Germain Blvd, and shops. Within two blocks there is great specialty food shopping in one direction and the Seine and Quai in the other. A great location overall. Tips or Restaurants: Bring your own music source, IPod, for example. They do have a CD player and you can plug into their speakers. We loved a little bistro with a zinc bar named Allard which was a short walking distance. The Buci is always great to sit outside, your fresh seafood for cooking, and watch the scene go by. Directions: It was a pretty straight forward street address. Check In Out: Antoine was our key holder person and he was on time and very polite and helpful. However, the management office had over-scheduled him and he did not have enough time to make explanations we could have used, as there was another family waiting outside for him at another street address. He was stressed at not being able to fulfill obligations as he would have liked.”
