Choose your words carefully. Caught the bottom of my car on a small piece of concrete at the local recycling centre, which knocked the steering out of alignment. Phoned "Rescuemycar", explained what had happened. All of a sudden it is an 'accident'. They wanted details of my car insurance so they could action a claim, required the name of an authorised garage to take the car to. Was told that they may have to use 'specialist equipment', which would incur an additional charge; and that I would have to submit a detailed invoice so demonstrate that the car was repaired. Instead of having what I thought was the protection of breakdown cover turned into a nightmare scenario where I had no idea how much out of pocket I would be literally providing 'Rescuemycar' with an open chequebook to charge me whatever they liked. I had no option but to cancel the callout and subsequently cancel my cover as I could no longer trust them to provide an acceptable service. Made my own arrangements to move the car where the damage turned out to be fairly minor. Do not use the word 'accident', unless you have been involved in a genuine accident.

When really needed, the help was not available without many reservations about time, cost, accessability and availability of help. Police eventually were the most helpful.

Like so many others, I thought I was buying breakdown/rescue services. These liars promise that but don’t deliver. They work through third rate local garages and try to charge you extra for the service you’ve already paid for. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Thought I had bought Breakdown Cover with roadside assistance as described on their website and literature. It turns out that they don't have mobile mechanics and if you breakdown with any sort of engine issues they will only recover you vehicle. They will never attempt to diagnose/resolve an issue ant the side of the road. They have a clause in the contract stating "that if roadside assistance is not available... they will recover the vehicle" My sons car broke down today and they refused to even take a look at the car, who knows what the issue might be. It may be a very simple fix but as they refused to look at it we are now left with having to get a mobile mechanic to come and see what the problem might be. This is not Breakdown cover it is paying to have you car recovered and nothing more!!

All well and good until you breakdown!! Car broke down I called the helpline and when I finally managed to get through a rep - after a 30mins wait - I was told that as per policy (small prints) they would only offer a 10 miles recovery in case they were not able to fix the car on the roadside. The CS rep then asked me for me to find a garage within 10 miles range where to tow the car in case they were not able to fix it and call him back! I refused the ridiculous ask to start googling and calling garages from the roadside and only when I ask for an alternative they mentioned that I could pay £5 extra per mile for my car to be towed home in case they were not able to fix it on the roadside. I reluctantly accepted and agreed to pay £151 extra for the car to be towed home and only then the Rescuemycar rep proceeded to check if he could find a Road side Assistance company that would take the job (?) or it was not their responsibility to send anyone. Luckily for me they found an agent and I was asked to pay the £151 excess by card on the spot and only then they confirmed they would send someone out to look at the car within 3hrs!! (by then that would have been 4:30 hrs wait from my intial call to Rescuemycar). I was also told without too many words that once rescued I could not call them again for the same fault until I get a garage to look at it as the policy would not cover it. This is by far the worst CS experience I have ever had. DO NOT USE this company, they will NOT RESCUE YOUR CAR!

Scammers will attend on time in case of a breakdown. Once they arrive, you will not get the diagnosis report, and it could take up to hours for recovery they will charge you extra, no matter the convenient place you push the car to; they would make excuses that they have used special equipment, etc Don't trust them. Stay away, pay a bit extra, and join a good company. These guys are absolutely scammers

Had to jump through so many hoops to try to get them out that in the end I gave up. The fact that you need to identify and contact a local garage and gain agreement with that garage that they will accept the car if the 'rescue mechanic' can't get it going is totally impractical in many situations. In addition they take £40 before they will send anyone. AA or RAC for me next time. Forget these cowboys.

Giving one star is a being generous - my daughter misfueld her car stupid mistake but she’s 18 policy says they cover it and send someone to drain the tank and refill it but because the driver had ‘gone home sick’ all they would do is tow her car to a garage within 10 miles and leave her to find her own way home I had to pay a company to come out and drain it at the petrol station they came within 25 minutes at a cost of £300. I would say they put this in the policy to sell it but it’s complete BS and when it comes to it they just fob you off. The recovery driver even told my daughter to fill up her car with unleaded drive it around for a bit and then refuel and that it would he ‘fine’ - which could have wrecked the engine. I will never use them again - as they always say you get what you pay for.

While on holiday in the north of Scotland we encountered a pothole which caused a tyre to blowout. This was on a Sunday afternoon, in a remote area (Dunbeath, near Wick). We called Rescue My Car who advised that as the problem was tyre related I had to source a tyre myself, whilst remote and in a poor signal area, and they would then recover us a maximum of 10 miles…we were remote, with my elderly, disabled mother-in-law in the car and we were effectively stranded. The agent we spoke to at RMC just referred to the small print.

Scammers, no customer service, worst company ever. Bought policy on Friday, immediately contacted them to cancel but there's no customer service to take the call whatsoever. Had to complain only to be told that they will charge a cancellation fee even in cooling off period. Will take these scammers to Ombudsman

Twice I’ve called them out since being with them over the last number of years and had to wait over 2hours each time. Yesterday I was stuck in the road on a searing hot day for what I think was a ridiculous amount of time. It also too 16m to actually get through to talk to someone about my breakdown. Now I would never recommend them .

It took ages for the emergency phone to be answered then you had to ring off to find a garage. Predictably the phone took ages to be answered again, so long that the phone went dead and had to be recharged. This was denied when a complaint was made. A poor company in my experience.

Dreadful company. Offered very little assistance, telling us we had to locate a garage whitest we were miles from home. When we complained they said there was no redress and they were not part of the ombudsman service. Good at taking your money but little else it seems.

I was issued with a £100 PCN (parking charge notice) after Rescuemycar.com recovered my car and decided to leave it overnight in a location where parking is prohibited. Rescuemycar.com have rejected my request to reimburse me for the cost of the parking fine, pointing to its general cover exclusions, which state that is not liable for charges incurred by companies other than those it authorises. This is despite the fact the parking fine was issued as a direct consequence of a decision made by its authorised recovery agent – a decision I would not have made myself, and one that could have easily been avoided by a) parking elsewhere, or b) purchasing additional parking time at the location where my vehicle was left. The company has confirmed to me that it is its official policy that, should it or one of its agents recover your vehicle and knowingly leave it parked illegally, the customer is the one responsible for resulting parking charge. I am currently seeking to recover my costs through the Financial Ombudsman service. So be careful: the breakdown cover might look like a bargain, but it could cost you more in the long run.

I have been a member for years but never needed to use the service. When i did call them it was in the middle of the day on a Friday and i was right next to key junctions in Wigan so very accessible. They quoted an hour and 25 mins for a recovery agent which i was disappointed with but then the recovery driver only turned up after 2 hours and 25 mins. I made another 2 calls to them in the meantime. I subsequently made a complaint about this poor service. I was told there is no time limit and therefore my complaint was bot upheld. In other words it could have been 4 hours. I immediately cancelled and have joined A A. Rescue my car will not refund the balance of my membership which lasta another 4 months because i have used their service even thought it is the poor service that is the reason for me leaving. Beware!!!

It's no wonder why there is such awful reviews of this company. The customer service agent was horrendous, really rude and patronising about the ordeal. They are incredibly unclear on the questions they were asking. Absolutely stay away from this company, will recommend others to do the same.

On Friday my car would not start and the remote key wouldn't work. I called out RescueMyCar and the mechanic said my battery was not charging. He gave it a jump start and then did some other stuff and told me I was fit to go. No me of going to a garage and seemed surprised when I said I would give the car a longish run. Next day the same thing happened and I phoned RescueMyCar who said it would cost me £150 to get some help because I had not taken my car to the garage. I told them that I had not been advised to go to the garage but that made no difference. I called out someone else who as soon as he looked at the engine asked who had been tampering with the battery? Turns out the mechanic on Friday had soldered the leads on the battery terminal. He advised me to take my car to an auto elictrian ASAP He also said that RescueMyCar should refund his call out fee. I phoned RescueMyCar on Saturday but have had no reply also tried to email them but that always fails Avoid this company. Wish I had read the reviews first
