Revolut deactivated my account without any reasonable detail or explanation. The vague, obscure, and superficial messages such as what I have received from them regarding the matter do not fit the character of a transparent, reliable, or service-orientated company. Quoted directly from their email to me: “After reviewing your account, we're sorry to say that we're no longer able to offer you our services and we’ve made the decision to permanently close your account. These are complex decisions, but unfortunately this is final and can’t be appealed.” There was no follow up or transparent explanation for why my account was closed. They left me with no opportunity to even query the decision, let alone contest it. Prior to receiving this email, I had tried to report a fraud incident to Revolut. Indeed, a difficult thing to do on their app as there is no evidence of an actual helpline; only “Rita” the bot and an online chat service. Is that really an appropriate method for the customer to contact them in a serious matter such as fraud? No, it is not and it indicates a severe lack of urgency on their side to resolve such matters. I supplied the employee who requested a police case number with the necessary details. As the fraud case included Barclays and Starling bank, I would have also provided those reference numbers when asked to do so. Then, without any sort of warning or advisement, my account was suddenly frozen. I had to query this myself since they did not have the courtesy to make me aware of the situation. When I queried this, I was given vague responses such as “this is just a security review”, “it is locked due to a standard verification”, “we simply need to check a few things about your account”. Their use of vague and misleading words such as ‘just’ and ‘simply’ only make them sound dishonest and untrustworthy; particularly now, after the fact. The bottom line being that I was left feeling confused, deceived and discarded by a company that I believed would provide me with good service and take care of my financial needs. Previously, I would have recommended Revolut to anyone. Now, I feel that I can not in good conscience lead anyone to use a company that clearly does not put its customers first, does not operate with transparency, and which will disappoint you when you most rely on them to assist you in financial matters. Reading between the lines of their final email to me, I can only surmise the following possible reasons for why they cut me off as they did: 1. They think that I am a scammer, involved in money laundering or fraud. To that I say, I did my best to provide them with details of the situation, a police case number and I reported it to Action Fraud. They could have contacted Barclays or Starling bank to verify the case. I am not a scammer and resented the insinuation that I am. 2. They don’t put their customer’s needs above their own desire to profit off of them. This results in poor customer service which in turn leaves the customer to wonder whether they are even bothered to give them the time, effort and consideration to resolve their issues in a fair and transparent manner. 3. The system that they use to detect fraud is AI driven and is therefore, in their minds, ‘infallible’ - so its word is final and that’s that. I put it to them that AI is not infallible, it is created by people, and people can make mistakes. Thus companies should understand how AI works and how to challenge automated decisions to ensure at all times that the customer is being put first. Companies should also insure that any AI systems they utilise respect all fundamental rights. AI can affect people’s rights - not just those of privacy or data protection. It seems to me that either they may know this and don’t care, or they may not know this and still don’t care. Perhaps, even worse, they may know this and use it to their advantage. In other words they appear to have an agenda and whatever that agenda may be, it is not for the benefit of their customers. Now, I am quite certain that I won’t ever receive a response to the complaint I made to them following this incident, considering my previous experiences with them. But that does not matter to me because nothing they say or do will convince me to stay with them as a customer. What matters to me, is that others are aware so that they don’t get pulled into the same trap. I would not want another customer to experience what I have. And judging by what I’ve seen online, through reviews, forums and articles, I’m not the only one who has experienced this, and this problem seems to be slowly but surely catching up with them.

Please people stay away and save your money. It is pure scam in ways you can't imagine. They will just lock your account for no reason and refuse to reopen it and give you access to your money. There is nothing wrong I did, yet when I tried to get into my account to use some money, I realized my account was locked. Pure scam. They will not provide a reason or a timeframe of when I'll have access to my money again. There is absolutely no reason for them to be refusing me to have access to my money. It is robbery. This company pays more attention and money on order to hire staff to reply to bad reviews on other reviewing platforms, so that we don't reveal their truth, rather than better the way they use our money and the speed to which they reply on the actual platform.

Genuine experience: Accounts blocked without notice. It took 1 year and a half for them to run a verification process with no access to my accounts. At the end of the process, they closed accounts without refunding fees originally paid for premium services despite multiple requests. They care about one's money like bargain chips in a casino. They will hold it hostage. Customer service is useless: no phone agents. All virtual agents based in remote countries that don't know how to spell english. Customer support is impersonal "webchat only" so don't expect helpful chat reps with a good command of grammatical english. Recommendation: stay away from aggravation and non sense by avoiding them.

Terrible service. Blocked my monthly incoming salary payment now for over 2 weeks and all I get is generic replies. Also blocked my outgoing payments while my account is under review. Made me miss credit card payments. In the meantime they continue taking money for their metal service. When I tried to raise the issue on their Twitter page all I got was a generic response and then I was blocked. This company is playing GOD with our money and it’s a scam.

I opened a company and as such, I needed to open a bank account. After seeing sites advising Revolut as an ideal bank for small and medium-sized businesses with no maintenance costs, decide to open a business account with Revolut. I filled in all the requested fields and in the field to prove the nature of the business, it appeared as the first option to attach a customer invoice and the bank statement to prove that the company had received this money. The company was just created and had no other bank account, so that option was out of the question, so I opted for the next option that asked to attach an invoice from a supplier, I attached 5 invoices from suppliers and I also attached the Commercial Certificate of the company because, in addition to being the official document of the companies operating in Portugal, it mentions all the activities that the company is legally qualified to practice and the respective CAE's. To my great amazement, this documentation was refused and they again asked for a customer invoice with the respective bank statement. I contacted Customer Support, Mr. Nomi, and 3 times I explained that it was a new company and that I had no other bank account but he keep asking for the bank statement. It was clear that he did not even bother to read what I was writing, probably busy with other things, and continued to automatically repeat the same requests ignoring the answers. Even when I asked why they refused the invoices from suppliers when the site presents as an option to prove the nature of the business, I was completely ignored and I was not even entitled to an answer. And that's how customer service ended, with me asking questions and Nomi completely ignoring what I was asking. More seriously, the Commercial Certificate, which is the legal document that certifies companies in Portugal and provides all the company's legal information, was completely ignored. If it weren't serious, it was at least a cause for indignation. Revolut comes to do business in a country and does not even bother to identify which documents are legally valid in that country? It works in Portugal as if it were in England and even the interlocutors who are studying Portuguese documents don't even know how to read Portuguese. So be careful when you read that Revolut is a great solution for companies because if you have to open an account like I did, then you will find that the quality of Revolut's Customer Support is at the worst that you will ever encounter. The minimum required is that they comply with Portuguese law, if Portuguese companies have to do this, why don't Revolut? Disrespect for Portugal and the Portuguese is at least insulting.

Shocking customer service. Purchased a house in Spain and sent them all my proof of funds. They are still restricting my account even though they have all the information. Luckily my transaction went through but I’ll be cancelling the account now. Customer service just repeat themselves. I would never use them again.

I work in Revolut. Technology culture is a mess! They are non-compliant because of the mess in core architecture. Nobody has access to fresh data (not because of security, because of wrong architecture) and CTO (Vlad) and others simply don't accept the problem. EventStore (their self-made event storing system) is just a mess with multiple problems with 1 or 2 people working on the issues without a proper roadmap. FinCrime is also another mess. Few Java developers are leading a huge Python team with absolutely no idea how to make tech decisions (and of course they think they are awesome). The culture is KPI driven. There are nice people all over, but the level of arrogance and ignorance (specially Lead+ people) is just astonishing. IOS and Android apps are nice (because happily they have limited power to ruin the development environment and architecture) Nik (the CEO) is very rude. It's part of his character and I think he enjoys it, based on what I heard from my managers, in the meeting he is cold and quite annoying. Jim MacDougall, (head of people) just achieved a milestone on forcing people to leave the company. He is one of a kind. The list is huge, they just don't want to hear it. Anyway, I am resigning in the coming days. Good luck and I hope they will learn from their huge mistakes soon.

I have an account with you and wanted to cancel it but I can no longer access it and you keep sending me emails asking me to update which I can't do. I'd like my little bit of money back please but you won't allow access for me to do so without an upgrade at a further cost up me. Is that even legal?

I would never use revolut again. They suspended my account and are asking for the same things over and over again. They contradict themselves even within one chat within a few minutes. They are asking for bank statements from 5 years ago, even though I have provided proof of my funds. I was lucky that I could transfer the large amount before my account was suspended, otherwise I would be missing out on a preapproval for buying our first home. Never ever again! I don't know if I am ever going to see my money again. It is right out steeling!

Revolut's customer service is frankly appalling. I have never experienced a worse service than I have with Revolut. They blocked my account because I used my partners debit card to deposit money. I literally provided them with the photo of my partner holding the cards and screenshots of corresponding transactions and my account is still not open. I have spent half a day off work literally trying to resolve this issue as I needed my Revolut funds to buy a present for a family member who has a birthday today. The customer service replies very very slowly and I have been in a conversation with them on their "24/7 in-app live chat" for 7 hours and nothing has been resolved. To add to this they don't even have a number to call for customer issues... I'm taking my account and my family's business account over to another provider - most likely Monzo. All great companies are built on their relationships with their customers and I have been absolutely let down by Revolut. I'll make sure to let everyone know how frustrating it is to deal with them and I will definitely not be recommending to Revolut to anyone. Thanks for your services Revolut!

Made a bank transfer on the 11/3/21 at 6.09pm but it didn’t reach my revolt account until the 15/3/22 at 8.03am but £19.30 short of what I transferred over. Contacted Revolt via live chat where I spoke with shaz who after minutes told me her shift was over and I would need to resend a message so I could speak with another member of staff, then I spoke with Daad who told me that Revolt didn't charge me any transaction/bank fees it must have been the senders bank. My bank provided me with the transaction details/number which shows the full amount was sent to my revolt account, this was also sent to both Shaz & Daad at revolt! Never have I been charged a fee for a bank transfer so now I’m £19.30 out of pocket due to revolt who are point blank refusing to help!

Be warned - they will block your account. I recently transferred quite a large amount into Revolut so I could use their savings account (by large I mean £10k+). They immediately blocked my account on suspicion of money laundering and demanded evidence of the source of income. Firstly, that is a ridiculous question to ask me - money gets pooled in my account from multiple sources so it's impossible to say where that particular transfer was "from". Secondly, they demanded payslips, bank statement and various other documents. They even demanded a statement that my bank hadn't issued yet! Then they proceeded to interrogate me about regular payments I make to my wife! Trust me when I say I am a "normal" person with normal sources of income. However, I feel like I have been treated like a criminal. And this is not the first time they've done this to me. I will never use them again for any kind of serious money deposits. You have been warned.

Revolut Business has the worst service ever - never ever use it! In general I liked Revolut. I sometimes use their B2C service, and was happy with it - so I tried Revolut Business! I have tried to open an account for three different regular German companies. The opening process took 7+ weeks, they asked for various kinds of documents (those were brand new companies, so no history at all), finally denied the opening of one account and randomly closed another account. Nobody answers your questions, only the same answers over and over again from a customer service robot. This is nowhere near their promise to be a modern bank. Every "old school" bank would have opened the account in days. In Europe, there are so many competitors like Holvi, Penta, N26 etc. - use one of them, but NEVER NEVER use Revolut Business. They'll screw you and randomly close your account without warning.
