“The first pair of women's lace up boots I bought had to be returned as the metal eyelet covers were becoming detached. The boots were replaced but the on the second pair the metal eyelet covers have rusted. I have bought lots of boots over the years, some of which have got soaked during rainy weather but i have never experienced this rusting before. Any one else had this problem.”

“Left ankle winter boot leaks badly even when walking on wet pavement with no puddles. Obviously defective. Appears that water is entering through the sole itself. Disgusted. Will try to get refund from the store which is several hours away.”

“Purchased a pair of ankle boots both leak so eventually got my refund from Shuropody after being berated and informed it was my responsibility to ask if £60 boots are going to be waterproof. Not thier responsibility to inform me they may not be waterproof. Also before purchase I studied the items product information on the Riekers website no information what so ever to state if you spend £60 on these boots they may not be waterproof also no labelling provided on the product to clearly informed the consumer of this information . So so so disappointing Rieker. There are lots of reviews re-enforcing my comments. So Rieker what are you doing about your leaking products.???”

“I bought the Chelsea boot and they are the worst fitting boot to walk in. I did not know this would be the case with this boot but I am extremely disappointed in this boot.”

“Expensive, not waterproof, comfortable and last for three weeks max. For that price I would expect to get a whole winter's wear out of them , not just three weeks. Also I would expect them to be waterproof”

“I have just paid £60 for a pair of shoes to find when I get home that they are plastic, I would expect plastic in Primark or Matalan for a few pounds but £60, your having a laugh. These go back tomorrow.”

“I recently purchased a pair of Mens Rieker sandals £70.70 because I have a few pairs of rieker shoes, after wearing them for a few hours I realised that i could feel every bit of grit because the soles are so thin, also there is very little arch support which made my feet ache, luckily i was able to return them with full refund.”

“Recently purchased a pair of Remonte Tex shoes from Rieker. Thought I was being really extra agent as they were£65. They are the most uncomfortable shoes I have had. I complained at the shop and they asked if I had removed the soles which they did and put a loose one in. It is like walking on a bed of marbles. I am persevering as I do not want a credit note. Will not buy again!”

“Very overpriced synthetic shoes which only last 3-4 months, if you're lucky. Soles have come apart, and the upper material has all ripped. Don't bother buying them at all, spend your money on leather!”

“Men's low top multi coloured sneakers ordered through Amazon. £48.50 More plastic than leather, worn for about 30 mins before permanent crease where foot bends, totally distorted because under the leather is cheap plastic. Also very uncomfortable with little support. Return procedure back to Reiker a nightmare, I printed a return label off Amazon site stating faulty...got one with no free postage but instructions to return them at my own cost which would be refunded they went to German address and to track it if over £20, cost me £13.50. Had then to chase up with Amazon and in turn Reiker for postage refund, Reiker replied to say would only refund half of this as I should have got a free returns label by contacting them,(not on the returns website it wasn't) Reiker still argued leaving me at a loss. Amazon customer services good who refunded me in full. I've had Reiker before which are good shoes depends which ones you choose. Beware, I would not buy again after this experience with Reiker who responded quickly to emails but wouldn't refund me in full.”

“After scarcely 1 season's wear (3 months) of my sandals (60€), the innersole has started to disintegrate - rubbish bin tonight. So, Riekers, supposed decent marque, lasted less than a year. I have just bought very similar sandals from Lidl, 13€, more comfortable, but let me see how long they last. If it is less than 4 years, wow, they are still much better value than Riekers. If less than 2 years, they are covered by guarantee. After reading various experiences of customer services, I shall not be bothering to contact them. What a con of a company trading on past prestige. The fact that nearly 69% of reviews have awarded their purchases 1 or 2 stars says it all.”

“Having had a pair of Reiker sandals for at least a decade, I reluctantly had to admit they were past their best. I had no hesitation in choosing Reiker once more but unfortunately it's quite obvious after wearing twice (in dry conditions) that the quality has definitely been compromised. The honeycomb shape of the last was very apparent on the insole and also a sharp object very quickly appeared underneath the big toe area. I also feel that the leather used for the straps of the uppers is of a lesser quality. I am most disappointed so I returned them and was given a full refund”

“I have bought pair of quite expensive sandals to my 10 year old daughter (more expensive than my Keen Hydro) and sent her out with grandma (who is pesking me for not buying "mark" shoes) for a walk , it was first use and got call back from grandma 10 minutes later that one of the belts is broken! I'm so disappointed as I was told to buy Riekers as shoes not just comfortable , but also lasting. This is my first experience and will be probably the last one.”

“Remonte uses names like comfort and soft. Buyer beware, these are bad shoes and if you have any sort of problems with you feet, their shoe will make it worse. They are cheap shoes with a high price tag. Terrible for your feet and obviously this company is nothing but a scam.”

“BUYER BEWARE! Worst pair of shoes I have ever bought and I'm 70 years old! The first time I wore them on a day with light drizzle I ended up with wet feet. The water comes in through all the seams. When I complained I was told they were a 'fashion' shoe - there is nothing fashionable about spending £60 on a pair of shoes that let water. Why on God's earth would I want a fashion shoe at my age - I told the assistant I wanted a good warm pair of shoes to wear throughout the winter. Shoddy shoes and shoddy treatment from this company.”

“I have a similar problem to Anna S. After wearing a pair of Rieker boots sparingly for 4 months, the leather in the upper portion stared to flake off. On top of this, the leather on the top portion of the R boot has cracked in several places. I emailed Rieker and did not even hear back from them! I will never buy a Rieker product again!”

“I bought a pair of high boots just over a year ago. They were stored for the summer and when I brought them out the upper portion flaked off. I wore these only 4 times. Sole and lower look brand new. I contacted Rieker Canada and they agreed it was a huge defect in the product and to take them back to the store with a receipt and they should replace or give me a credit. I don’t bother to keep receipt after I’ve worn something. I now have a $200 pair of boots that look like an extreme case of dandruff! Finding a Rieker representative that is willing to help seems to be useless. I’ve bought Rieker previously and up to now have liked the product. Never again with customer service like this”

“I purchased an 80Euro shoe when I arrived in Slovenia last November and wore it several times, it was really comfortable shoe. Just few weeks passed I noticed shoe is peeling off, a part of the under sole was also removed.. I told Rieker's customer service about my concern and they do not respond with clear answers. STAY AWAY from RIEKER and do not buy.. IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY”
