“My issue is with quality and Customer Service. I order a pair of N4263-16 Nikita in March of 2022. I had them for less then 3 weeks and they started to fray around the zipper. My first email to Customer Service was April 26th. The response I received from them was: " Thank you for contacting the Customer Services team at Rieker Shoe Canada Ltd. This message is to inform you that we've received your email and we'll be sure to look after you from here. You should receive a reply within a few hours, but please allow up to 24 hours. In the meantime, our website's FAQ section does answer many common questions – just click here for more information. Once again, thank you for your inquiry and have a nice day! Customer Services Rieker Shoe Canada Ltd. " This is an exact copy from the email I received from Reiker Canada. I have also left 3 messages on the Customer Service phone and emailed twice more with the same response from Reiker Canada. As of today I have heard nothing from Reiker Canada and am left with an expensive pair of shoes that are falling apart.”

“I have ordered a pair of Rieker shoes, paying the requested total of 78.94. There is a small print statement that says the price may be adjusted if the exchange rate moves. On the same day I see that our bank account has been debited with a total of $89.15. This isn’t currency movement of a single day - 13%. It is sharp practice, and should not occur.”

“Purchased a pair of ankle boots for indoors (work). In less than a year they are coming apart. The sole is lifting and the stitching is coming apart. The front of the boot is is wearing off (looks like I dragged it through gravel). When I tried to wipe down with a damp cloth the colour is coming off the boot. This is my first purchase from Rieker, and my last. I will go back to Josef Siebel they are better quality for the same price. I contacted the company via email, received an auto response indicating they would get back to me in 24 hours, it's been almost two weeks with no response. Very disappointed in the quality of this product and their customer service.”

“Rieker boots look good but my winter boots leaked and I had to secure the soles with glue. Also my short and my long boots peeled at the toes very quickly liked I had scraped them along the ground. They look well worn now. I won't be buying Rieker again.”

“Dear Reiker I brought a pair of boots from the Reiker store in Montague Centre, 7 Liverpool Buildings, Worthing BN11 1SY about 1 week before Xmas, I always buy my boots from there as they are usually really good and last ages, I have poor feet so I need very comfortable shoes and usually…like I said are very good, but the pair I brought have fallen to pieces, the souls are falling off, so I took them back today Thurs 24th March, unfortunately I have not kept my receipt and brought them cash. The man in the shop said with no receipt they can not do anything, and told me to go to the shoe repairers to get them fixed and they will reimburse me the money of how much it cost, so I went to the shoe repairers and the man there said he could do it but it would only last 5 Minutes as it was a rubber soul. I am disappointed that the store did not do anything, was very unhelpful and the man was very rude. The boots are no good to me now and are only fit for the bin. I am really disappointed as I’ve never had a problem like this before with your shoes and quite honestly it has made me not want to buy any more again. I have enclosed some photos of the boots. A very unhappy customer Mrs Tara Bolan”

“Bought Reiker light blue & silver casual shoe ,can't wear them as zips have rubbed skin of toes ,also insoles are wafer thin,soles of my feet ached,really disappointed with them ,i have Reiker boots which are comfortable but these shoes are awful”

“Absolute junk. I got very little wear from these shoes before they both split on the sides. I am 70 years old, and these are by far the worst quality shoes I have ever purchased. A complete waste of money.”

“Rieker/Remonte Tex winter boots purchased in Canada, February 2021, not worn till November 2021, leaked in the toe area of both boots and not the zipper section by February 2022. Followed the care instructions. Email message to contact address, phone message on Feb. 24 yielded no response. Tried again with phone, Mar. 7 only to be told 12 month warranty was up, too bad. It was 6 days out of warranty even though not worn till November 2021. Went back to the shoe store, store owner couldn't connect with the Rieker Shoe sales representative and he texted photos of the boots to the rep. I sent a Facebook Message to the company and no response. There was no 0 star rating, and the 1 star was too generous. Paid $150.00 for boots that didn't even last a winter. Very angry with my experience with Rieker. Hopefully, this review will save another individual in the world from this dreadful experience. If Rieker loses enough revenue, the company may change, but in the meantime, I will ensure none of my social network buys Rieker shoe products. They do not stand behind their products. Lesson learned, buy Canadian manufactured boots, because my old 6 year hiking boots still don't leak and they stand behind their products. “Bought a pair of mens Chelsea style boots, fleece lined with elasticated panel and side zip. Obviously a winter boot designed for winter weather. All was fine in dry conditions, warm and comfortable until it rained. One boot leaks so badly, the lightest contact with water on the toe ensures a wet foot. Oddly it's only the left boot. The right boot functions without leaking, so clearly this is a quality issue. All in all pretty poor quality product and at £75 a pair pre sale price - not cheap. Would not recommend Rieker products and will not be buying again.”

“The short boots looked super cute for about a month, but the man made upper broke down quickly. After 3 months of use, they are a write off. With the material peeling off the base. I think I paid $150 for them… worst investment I’ve ever made in shoes”

“These boots are not for Canadian winters. After using them 3 times they are already falling apart from the inside. They are frozen. Not worth the $255.00. I've had $70.00 boots that are way better quality. Also, I called the shoe store and the manufacturer and no one is taking responsibility for its bad quality.”

“Bought a pair of men's winter low cut shoes - the front part sole is so extremely soft that even slightest pavement unevenness is felt almost as walking barefoot - becomes very uncomfortable in a short time of walking. I can not wear these and Rieker refused to do anything about this claiming I picked shoes not suited for my type of use ( walking ) !!!! I basically threw $ 120 out the window . Stay away from this scam and do not buy product from this company.”

“wish I could give Rieker zero stars. I ordered a pair of Rieker boots, and within a week they started to peel. The boots only had 10 - 12 hours of wear time in total. Apparently Rieker does not warranty their boots. (I've never heard of a Canadian company that does not back their product.) The email that I got was ... Rieker does not warranty the wearing of the material as a defect and therefore they will not take them back, sorry! I contacted Rieker and they were no help, they also promised to have a manager get back to me and never did. I completely understand if I had these boots for three or four months and if they were cheap boots (I paid over $120 for them) they were barely a week old, and had very little wear time and started to peel. I would have expected a better product from a Canadian company. Poor quality and poor customer service.”

“Bought a pair of "fur" lined red ladies ankle boots in Germany for gf a couple of years ago. They would be ideal for autumn/winter ( bought them in December ) except that she might as well wear sponges on her feet. Not in the slightest bit waterproof. They weren't cheap and we won't be buying this brand again. "Family owned" doesn't mean their shoes aren't rubbish.”

“I purchased trainers after only four months or so the upper material started to delaminates. I thought I had bought quality instead of a cheap trainer. I contacted Rieker, by email with photos of the delamination, they did not want to know, said I had to return them to the shop where I’d purchased them. Couldn’t do this as I no longer had the receipt. Contacted Rieker again (twice) and they just did not want to know just quoting the usual consumer rights stuff. Rieker quality to me is very questionable, I will not be purchasing Rieker again nor recommending them either!”

“I loved the look of my Rieker shoes. I only wore them a couple of times and then was saving them for special occasions. I put them on about 6 weeks ago and the entire inside of both shoes was extremely sticky leaving black residue on my socks which also got sticky. I took them to a shoe repair man with about 45 years experience and he said he'd never seen anything like it and there was nothing he could do. The lining was some cheap inferior material. I called the Rieker toll free number and the lady was very abrupt and said she couldn't help me, I'd lost the sales slip and the shoe store had closed and they were over a year old. I didn't want a refund I wanted a solution, offering to send them to the company to look at. She told me they were not in the shoe repair business. I will never buy Rieker products again. I have been generous giving them one star but I couldn't give a zero.”

“We went to Paris Ontario store for good support men's walking shoes,we found nothing but very soft flimsy soles. We requested the employees input said all were good support. We pointed out where we wanted more support she shrugged and said they are all good. Well going on the assumption they are good shoes you need staff to advise you of that.”
