“Appalling service, letter from local hospital for an important appointment sent on April 1st arrived today ( April 9th.) for appointment dated April 8th, hence appointment missed.
No wonder NHS appointments are missed.”
“Posted an anniversary card for my youngest son with a 1st class stamp on 2nd March for his wedding anniversary on 9th March. It didn't arrive until 16th March. Posted birthday cards for my eldest son with 1st class stamps on 24th March for his birthday on 31st March. It's now 2nd April and they still haven't arrived. What a shambles and you have the cheek to increase your prices! Get a grip and start delivering a decent service.”
“In all day, but received a text that delivery failed as no one was in! There were actually three of us home, can't imagine that none of us heard the postman, if he actually did attempt delivery.”
“A parcel sent using Tracked 48 delivery was left outside the doorway of the intended recipient, and was stolen.
Royal Mail Claims department did not contact the recipient, no did they make any attempt to investigate why the item was simply left on a doorstep.
The Claims department simply insisted that a parcel left on a doorstep, is, in fact delivered. I think otherwise.
However, the Customer Service department (the wrong name for a department which is as unhelpful as can be), and the Claims Department collude to defraud customers of their rightful claims.
My advice to anyone sending items through Royal Mail is to ALWAYS request a signature. A Tracked Service guarantees nothing.”
“What an appalling service I’ve just received from Royal Mail . I had directed on the Royal Mail app for my correctly addressed parcel to be left in my enclosed porch today . On my way out I bump into the postman and say to him I think you have a parcel for me . He is holding a parcel which looks like mine . He says don’t worry I will put your parcel in your porch so I go out . When I get home I cannot find it anywhere but I have received an email saying it has been delivered to the porch. The photo of the porch is unrecognisable . I trawl around 6 neighbours and after 45 minutes eventually find it . It hasn’t even been delivered to the same road as mine and it put under a window not a porch . Cannot believe how incompetent this post man is esp as I had already spoken to him . I reiterate that having checked the address on the parcel it was correct . Not impressed .”
“Xmas and 1 yr olds birthday ruined by this shower an absolute disgrace and then to rub salt in they demand all receipts after 3 months of not even a reply. Must wait 90 days before you can start not even an attempt to compensate.
Never ever use this lot now totally destroyed by privatisation little wonder its going tits up.”
“Absolutely useless ....A few weeks ago a package from Boots online prescriptions got lost because although it was classed as a letterbox delivery he didn't put it through the letter box he took it back but couldn't be bothered to do his job properly and put it in the system for a redelivery it was never seen again !!!! (if i had my way he would have been sacked)...Also you get emails from them when expecting a parcel giving a delivery day so you sit in waiting but it doesn't turn up ....we've sent things to our daughter at times and half the time she never receives them ...Quite frankly Royal mail are rubbish ,disgraceful and useless .”
“I paid £5 extra for my passport to be returned by secure delivery. It was delivered to the wrong house, despite the numbers on the houses being clear and several people being in our house at the time. The Home Office envelopes specifically say to not deliver it to a neighbour's house. The photo on the tracking page is also not our door. That house, by the way, has nobody living there currently - it was only because a workman was there that he could call somebody and get the passports; if there had been nobody, my passports would have stayed there. It's very poor. There is no point in tracked delivery if it goes to the wrong house. There is no excuse for not ringing the doorbell/knocking.
Customer service also just send links to generic forms which do not even accept that tracking number, and then do not reply.”
“Left my package outside my front door and no option to collect from depot. Given the risk of theft and rain damage this is appalling. The last three deliveries have all been left outside - my front door opens directly onto the pavement.”
“I sent the 2kg small parcel ( correct weight is 1.749 kg (45cm x 35 x 16), paid postage 48h tracked £3.55, parcel not delivered past 10days, once on 02 March 2026, Monday started to Lost claim, immediately Tuesday Parcel came out with a less postage card to the buyer, now Slough Royal Mail office full of Parcel stealing people working if we claim lost then parcel come out from stealer home with less postage card, my question is, if it's really less postage, it must be come earlier why? Once I started the parcel loss claim, I immediately received a lower postage card, so Royal Mail is full of parcel thieves. Really, it's not Royal Mail, it is ROYAL STEALER MAIL”
“Relentless failure to deliver parcels... eight since May 2025 have gone missing. Obviously I now use couriers but I don't have that option with letters. Several of these have gone missing. Those that don't take around a week to arrive (first class).”
“Deliver been late, scheduled for different date and royal mail fail to attempt, but tracking clearly stated they tried to deliver. Perfect lie. Now, they want me to collect. Delivery service has been paid. Im not willing to do they job. Royal Mail is scam.”
“It used to be a really good couriers but something change. They don't even bother to knock to the door and just leave the note they attempted delivery. I lived in the tenement house, we don't have any door bell or something.
Such a shame.
Not recommended at all.
Try some other courier.
Customer service doesn't exist. U have to wait ages in the queue and no satisfactional answers.
Email if u are lucky maybe there answer.
Meh.”
“Sent a Birthday card on a Friday morning 1st class and it was delivered a week later on a Friday, shocking charging 1st class for a third rate service.”
