SAMi® is a video-based sleep activity monitor for parents, caregivers and individuals that need to watch carefully for unusual movements at night. SAMi can detect and alarm on all types of movement, with settings that can be easily customized to your individual needs. During sleep, the SAMi camera's proprietary technology monitors for unusual or abnormal movement in the field of view. When abnormal movement is detected, an alarm sounds on the Apple device running the SAMi iOS app (iPhone / iPod / iPad / Mac) and displays a live video / audio feed. Within seconds, the individual or caregiver can take any necessary action. “Seizures can be difficult to recognize by machines. The different kinds don't look like each other, don't feel like each other. Most focus on certain types of movement; muscle clenching, thrashing, the larger the movement the easier it is for a machine to recognize. Unfortunately, that doesn't work for more than a small segment of the population. SAMi focuses on movement, but brings a nice balance between constant alarms when your loved one turns over and missing out on quieter seizures. It has a 'movement monitor' which glows red following changing movements. This can include opening eyes. The alarm intensity is customizable and can be turned on and off during certain hours. It includes customizable sound which on the high end can pick up turning over, changing breath, and quiet rustling at a level which can wake up the caregiver (YMMV). It also records video of small movements and changes, so caregivers can browse through to see absence or atypical seizures in the middle of the night. Movements of interest can be locked and emailed to you or a physician.”

“We love our SaMi. It has brought a lot of peace of mind in our home. Ever since we received it we installed it which was so easy and self-explanatory. The customer service has been great even though I would have loved it if we had been able to have a call, too it gets the job done faster than all the back-and-forth emails. What I love the most is being notified with every movement even though we get false alarms but also being able to look though past recordings, and save the ones are important like the ones with a seizure or an odd movement. Thank you SaMi team for bringing peace of mind into our home!”

“I'm still learning the quirks but it alerts me for movement. Just make sure to use it consistently because my daughter was sleeping with me for a while and when she finally slept in her room again I had to reinstall it and connect it to wifi”

“We love the sami it give us peace of mind that we will know if something happens with our daughter at night our daughter has a rare disease and we use sami to monitor her epilepsy .we love that we can show neurology what we are witnessing it's easy to save videos that we need .”

“Our daughter's condition has a high prevalence of seizures yet she's been fortunate enough to not have experienced them as of today. We keep a close on her during the day, and at night by co-sleeping. Having the SAMi watch over our daughter provides an additional layer of comfort for us being able to monitor her movements and sleep patterns to evaluate if seizures were present. Traditional cameras do not provide the added benefits of the SAMi in these sensitive situations.”

“Our family doesn't have enough great things to say about the SAMi Monitoring system. After our son was diagnosed with epilepsy we were left scrambling with appointments and an awful lot of anxiety and questions about what his life would look like moving forward. After an onslaught of testing, we finally had a clear idea of the type of epilepsy he had and how to best support and monitor his seizure activity. The SAMi monitor has offered us so much comfort and reassurance that, if he has a seizure while we are all sleeping, we will be alerted and can provide him seizure care. “We are so very grateful for our SAMI! Our biggest fear is SUDEP. It is amazing how it can detect even the smallest movement to alert us of a seizure. “SAMi is working out for our needs. However, the camera does disconnect here and there. I love the fact it is recording in the background. The features seem to work well, but the controllers look a little old on the app. I would give this a 5-star rating if we could load this on an Android phone or tablet. I don't like that you have to purchase an iPad to just get this to function. I would also rate this higher if you could turn the screen off and still have it monitor. Even when setting the screen to "clock" mode, it still puts off a decent amount of light in a dark room.”

Hi John - thank you so much for your feedback. We're happy to hear that it's working out for your needs. We hear you on the outdated app and it not being Android compatible. We're still a family-owned and operated business so our resources are limited when it comes to doing engineering overhauls like creating a new app. It's something we hope to offer in the new year so please stay tuned on that. In regards to the clock mode being too bright at night, once you are in clock mode you can slide your finger across the screen from right to left to dramatically dim the light on the clock mode so that it doesn't give off light. It should be virtually black when you slide it to the left. I hope that helps!
