"The fan arrived very quickly (surprised by that) and was well packaged without any damage. I already had a metal electrical fan box in the ceiling to attach the fan so it was pretty easy to attach the base. One minor gripe is that there is an extra metal cord you can (apparently) attach to the ceiling and also to the fan base in case the fan somehow becomes detached from the ceiling to prevent it from falling to the ground. Unfortunately, there wasn't any instruction on the best approach to secure it to the ceiling. Also, the wiring diagram assumes the electrical box is *not* wired to provide separate power lines for both the fan and light (e.g. a separate wall switch each for the light and fan). This means (in my situation) I had two \"hot\/live\" wires in the wiring box for the fan motor and fan light. Since the the Smafan only requires a single \"hot\" wire for both functions (since the fan and light are electronically controlled), I just tied all three \"hot\/live\" wires together (two from wall switches, one from Smafan). As a result I need to make sure either my fan or light wall switch is turned \"on\" to power the Smafan (either will do). It was a little tricky screwing on the fan blades (nice solid wood) due to the base already being mounted to the ceiling but thankfully the screw holes lined up without any slop. Getting the fan paired to the app and eventually Google Home involved a little trial-and-error but if you have experience binding smart-home devices the process is similar. Once bound, the app and Google Home worked great. The light actually appears as two separate lights: one \"cool\" and one \"warm\" light that surprised me. In the end, however, they are both controllable (as well as the fan speed) so there are no complaints. Also, at least with Google Home, the Smafan reacts to commands quickly. The fan itself is quiet at low speeds but becomes noisier as you ramp it towards the higher speeds. The increased noise isn't due to the fan mechanism but rather the increased \"swoosh\" of air that it's pushing through the room. Overall, it took me about 1.5-2 hrs to install one evening and I've been happy with it's performance so far. Long duration testing will start when summer arrives and the bedroom gets hot. If you don't like controlling the Smafan with your phone or favorite home automation software (Google Home, Alexa, etc...), the included remote control works well and gives you a plastic holster you can use to attach it to a wall."

“Due to the always increasing utility prices, I am always looking for ways to save on our energy bill. Not only are these fans energy efficient by being low voltage (24 volts), they are quite, affordable, can be controlled remotely off our cell phone, can program schedules for its operation and works with Alexa. Very please with the purchase of our 2 fans with lights and would recommend these 100%.”

“Updates added as of 3/2/23 I’ll start by saying that the 2 fans I purchased are beautiful and put out plenty of light and air movement once it gets going. I docked a star because when I turn on the fan with the remote, it spins one direction for about two seconds, then changes direction to go full speed. Sometimes it does this twice. Not a huge issue, but may be a strange thing to explain to a future buyer. (Update: SmaFan diagnosed the issue as a buggy circuit board type situation and sent a new board free of charge) Lastly, I ordered two of the same fan in black but received a dark wood color for both instead. I reached out to customer service by responding to one of the many emails that are sent out after purchasing that ask you to leave a review, but I haven’t received a response in the last month or so. (Update: after this review I received plenty of help and feedback from customer service. They also have updated the color descriptions, pictures and additional key words. This details of this are an example of their customer service and dedication to improvement.) In the end, we installed the fans because they weren’t far off from the look we wanted, they just weren’t what we ordered. Between that and the two quirks we’ve uncovered so far, 3 stars is where we land. (Updated to 5 stars because of the above-and-beyond customer service help).”

Nevertheless, we will still do our best to serve you and solve your problems. 1. Thank you for saying that the fans are beautiful and can provide strong airflow and light. The fan rotation problem you mentioned can be solved. We will ask our colleagues to follow up and will send an email to you to deal with this problem. Please stay in touch if you need. 2. I am sorry that our ceiling fan does not have "memory" function. This makes our customers to manually adjust the fan to their preferred gear every time when turn it on. There has been a lot of customer response to this issue, and we will inform our production technology department of their urgent need for memory function and urge them to add this function to ceiling fans. I also hope this function will come as soon as possible. 3. Yes. I see you purchased two "DARK" Apex ceiling fans. To be honest, you will see that the blades are dark wood at product page,instead of pure black. Additionally, if you wanted the pure black one, you could choose that "BLACK &GOLD" one with a gold bracket. We have an obvious wood blades option for this product, which selects "WOOD" color at the store. However, there is no word "DARK WOOD" in our color vocabulary at store, so we have no idea but to choose "BLACK" as the word for color. Hope you will understand. As you mentioned that you contact our customer service, we checked our email system and mailbox, and could not find out any email you have replied to us. There is only one review invitation email sent from cs@smafan.com. If you need further help, please contact us via cs@smafan.com ASAP. We are very lucky that you can accept our product. We would like to send you two new black fans you need (BLACK&GOLD), but this product is out of stock and manufactures of this model and color has stopped. We're sorry about that. But we can still solve your existing fan problem. Please pay attention to our email and stay in touch with us. Give us a second change to make you satisfied!

“We purchased a set of fans from SmaFan for remodeling our home and have been very pleased with the performance of the product, and the responsiveness from support. One of the four fans had a defective control board, however, support was able to find and resolve the issue very quickly. They're prompt to respond and very polite, I intend to do business with them again in the future and would highly recommend them to anybody looking for some fans and wanting to skip the big box stores like Home Depot.”

“I ordered 5 downrods for my Carro fans, not knowing there were 2 options. Smafan sent me both types so I would have the correct one for my fans. Customer service was very helpful with my questions and provided a return label for the downrods that I didn't use.”

Hello David. Thanks for leaving such a great and kind review for us. We have two types of downrod, one of which is universal, and the other is only suitable for our old Carro fans. We usually send out universal type one (SKU: DR14W-2) to our customers. However, there was a mistake when our warehouse sent out the packages. He sent extra 5 downrods to you and totally 10 downrods(5 DR14W and 5 DR14W-2) were sent out. We were sincerely appreciative when you let us knew this and sent the extra downrods back to us. Your active cooperation in our return of products had reduced our losses. Thanks you very much! Hope you will choose smafan again. We are always waiting for you!

“They have the best customer service I would say. My fan initially was not synicing with the app and not starting. I msg them once about my fan concern and they checked with me continously untill my issue was resolved. They send me new adapter to check it was adapter issue. Later it was not fixed they replaced me with new fan. I truely appreciate there assistance as they abide by their product.”

“We did A LOT of research and chose this fan because it is a "smart" fan and so easy to just say "hey Google. turn the fan to a slower speed," or Hey Google, turn off the fan light." And, we really like that it has a separate yellow and white light - most fans are just yellow and they aren't bright enough. And, it's quiet!! And, the price is very competitive. All around - a great fan. In fact, this is our second SmaFan and we would buy another! Highly recommend.”

“We installed SmaFan ceiling fans (via Kickstarter) in our previous home in 2019, and loved them, so when we began remodeling another home, we only wanted SmaFan for our new home. First, the SmaFans look great! Importantly, however, the fans also function beautifully. The fan motors and fan blades operate very quietly, even at the highest speed. The fan is very stable (no wobble), regardless of the speed and/or direction of the blades. The number of different speed choices allows the fan to provide just the right amount of airflow, depending on the situation. Also, the two choices for Light Appearance (warm white or cool daylight) combined with the ten (10) different brightness settings of the light allow the SmaFan to produce the proper style and amount of light for any function. Finally, both the remote and the Carro App are intuitive and easy to use, making it simple for anyone to properly adjust the fan for maximum comfort. Nevertheless, despite all of this, the fans also look great and can blend into any room. For us, it is important for the fan to simply be a part of the room, and not stand out, dominate the landscape, or negatively impact the design. Like the Groom’s mother at a wedding – the fan should look stunning (without clashing), function efficiently, and not be the center of attention – SmaFan delivers on all counts. Therefore, when we decided to purchase a new home and embark on an extensive remodeling project, it was a given for us we would install SmaFans in our new home.”
