The tour of China was a classic case of "bait and switch". The price was very low ($1200 for the land portion of an 8 day, 3 city tour). However, every day there was an "optional" event that was impossible to turn down. As a result the real price went up by about $400. SmarTours should cut the deception and reveal the true cost of the tour, which was otherwise most enjoyable.

Yoko was great! Disappointed in the 2 dinners. Not very special, and should be one on final night of trip in Kyoto for good-byes.

Very good experienceience. Excellent guide (Harry). Hotels were 4+. River cruise could have been one less day. Visit to see soldiers was unpleasant as it was Labor Day and crowds were overwhelming. Trip to dam was unnecessary. An extra day in Hong Kong would have been nice.

I would rate the trip 5 Star if not for our missed flight connection and last minutes change of airports which made it stressful. I realize SmarTours has no control over the airlines but a longer layover was needed to allow for delays on our recent Croatia trip. I missed the first day of my tour and was stuck in two different airports (London and Frankfurt) for the day instead of touring wonderful Zagreb. Otherwise, it was a great trip.

My husband & I enjoyed our tours to some really unique places on this Best of Bali & Java Smartours trip. Seeing Borobudur at sunrise was definitely the highlight in Java. Our tour guide Jack was so knowledgeable & accommodating - he did a fantastic job for us. The hotels were lovely, especially the Hotel Nikko Bali at Benoa Beach. The only downside to our trip was the Cathay Pacific flight. Seats were 10 across on a Boeing 777 & extremely close to the seat in front. For a 15+ hour flight between LAX & Hong Kong, this is intolerable. Never again want to fly Cathay Pacific on a long-haul flight.

We were disappointed in some of the hotels. The farewell dinner was really bad. Bad food and location.

I totally loved flights, vacation and everything being all inclusive. Makes traveling a whole lot easier… I do wish that they were a little bit more organized, however

Accommodations were very good - both on the cruise and on the land tours. Guides were very friendly and knowledgeable - were experts in their field.

Iceland was fabulous and the weather wasn't bad in early April. This was our third trip with SMARTOURS. Overall we were quite satisfied. Two concerns. This was our 43rd wedding anniversary trip, and my wife and I were placed in different parts of the plane on the outgoing flight. Secondly, in the paperwork we received from SMARTOURS, it said you can pay in cash for the extra tours. We were told that was absolutely not correct. No American dollars were accepted. My family and I are going on the Ireland trip this summer with SMARTOURS. We will see if our family of 4 are seated together on the plane or not. If not, it will probably be our last trip with SMARTOURS. SMARTOURS says they have no control over seating. For the price we paid, SMARTOURS should insist they have some say in the seating of its tourists. Other tour company groups on the plane were seated together.

Wonderful trip to Turkey in April 2019. Tour guide Mary was the best. Our driver was very professional and safe and kept bus spotless throughout trip. Turkey is a naturally beautiful country, very modern, with a fascinating history. Our hotels were 5 star. One minor complaint—the entire tour was by bus and we spent many hours on it.

The tour was planned nicely but that last minute tours from Dubrovnik was not planned properly as you had on last day planned to go to other neighboring countries when we had to fly to US next early morning which stopped me to go I guess it was an optional tour but still I think you should look into it Also it was difficult for vegetarian travelers as the tour guide did not make an extra effort to see if there was vegetarian food available for me Yes I managed myself

Well organized.. Hotels fine.. Guide very knowledgable and informative.. Maybe too much talking... Extension with visas to Victoria falls did not have full time Smartours rep" felt alittle unsafe if needed help

The tour to Greece was very good but, totally exhausting. We had very little free time, constantly on the move. Both tour guides were great(Granville and Nina). The cruise ship was a horror. Breakfast was good, lunch and dinner, NO Thank YOU!!! I came home sick with bronchitis and several people I traveled with were also sick. The boat did not offer enough hand sanitizers which is why I believe I am sick. You need to find another cruise ship line,this boat was disgraceful.

We had a great time on our Amazing Thailand tour! Our guides, Ketsara and Noc were both truly amazing, patient, helpful, and informative. The tour was well organized and went very smoothly. The only negative was a few of the hotels could have been a little better, but even so, they were acceptable. Highly recommend!

Beautiful county. Too bad our guide was too busy talking on his cell phone to explain what we were seeing. Fortunately we had a great bus driver. he was always there to help us on and off. Our guide again was very very busy talking on his cell phone.

Excellent guides. Great accommodations in Egypt. I’ve been on 2 Smartours. Both needed a little more relaxing time. 2 forced marches a day is not a vacation; it’s a fact finding mission. I was disappointed in the tipping scheme in Egypt. Our guide, Hepa, in Abu Simbel insisted we tip the “travel agent”. It appeared to me that he was a man who owned his own business, and therefore should not require a tip. He provided a product, and no service except leading us to the bus, which Hepa should have done. It felt like Hepa was shaking us down for her colleague, especially because it wasn’t mentioned in your tip guide. Dina was very good about explaining tipping the government paid security agent, if he provided a special service. I contributed significantly to the economy, by purchasing gold jewelry and I am happy to tip appropriately. I am not happy to be hustled no matter how small the amount.
