Blocked my credit card without letting me know. Quick to tell me when payment due, not so quick to remind you a payment has been missed despite 10 years of never having missed a payment. Rang to complain after card declined. Everyone very sorry, can see our payment is pending but wont unblock card. very unhappy. Had two messages to ring them, mobile and landline. Rang back as asked no one knew anything about it. 28 minutes later having spoke to 3 different people having to tell the same story every time got totally fed up and asked to be rung back by someone who knew our situation. Still waiting!!! Will not be using Tesco bank again. Just appalling service

Tesco car insurance mislead customers resulting in them paying higher premiums. Their staff also lie. Appears to be a conflict of interest. I smell horsemeat

Unbelievably bad and ignorant staff. Refuse to pass you to ops or other directors or managers. Ask endless questions on security and if you don't know exact amount of interest per month they lock your account and refuse to help saying 'computer and process wont let us'. Don't give up keep pushing and ask for manager. Ironically they claim they are in 'customer services' and offer no service for customers.

Do not apply for a consolidation loan as the debt you will be clearing will not be taken into consideration.

Shoddy treatment for loyal customer I’ve been with Tesco for 16 years and have only had need of their claims department twice in that time. The first time was when someone nearly wrote off my car; the second was when a van driver reversed into me without looking. The first time I claimed Tesco were fast and my opinion were very good and I was soon on the road within a month, so when the van driver reversed into me I was pretty confident in my insurance provider-WRONG. After two months of waiting, calling back to ask on the progress of my claim and sending emails that got ignored I was basically told I would have to stump the cost of the repair myself because it fell under my excess. Fair enough you might say, but I was told on the phone by the only competent and interested member of their team that they were going to hold the other party fully responsible for the damage to my car. I phoned up some weeks later and was told they were waiting on the other party to come to a compromise. The next time I phoned up about three weeks later I was told “They hadn’t hear from the third parties insurance company for weeks.” so what really was going on here? well one guess was I was getting very close to my renewal date and maybe Tesco wanted to keep me daggling on a hook because with a case still on going the company thought it was in its best interests to keep me in the dark so I would obediently renew because of the case. However like I told the young lady on the phone I’m not happy with Tesco giving me misinformation and as their premium for the next year is high I will no longer require their services. Her response was “sorry to hear you’re not happy” well folks after thousands of pounds spent on this company over the years I feel so much better hearing that. My advice is maybe Tesco are good when there is a large claim i.e. a write off when they see hundreds if not thousands can be gained from the other party, but loyalty isn’t their forte.

Appalling service, slow transfers and banking non existent on a weekend. On at least 6 occasions I haven’t been able to even make a payment/withdraw cash on a weekend.

One of the worst companies I have ever used, the never get back to you and just seem like they want to avoid a pay out when needed by avoiding to speak with customers/ getting back to them. My case has taken a number of months for a simple buildings insurance claim due to a leak from the upstairs flat, which they immediately took liability for. Yet this company have pushed back deadlines continuously and now refuse to provide me any updates on my case.

Takes double the time to make and receive payments and the online banking is always down at weekends and never comes back online when they say it will.

AVOID. They Transferred £2500 to another bank without my knowledge or consent 3 weeks of argument to try and sort it. Promised call backs never made the key way to get you off the phone is to suddenly say your being aggressive and then hang up.

Trying to open a savings account. Been waiting 10 days for them to respond to my identification paperwork which I sent. If I had not had to pay for certified photocopies I would cancel. I have at least got to get some interest to cover the cost of that. Very poor compared to my experience of opening other accounts online.

Daughter in law was told she was accepted for a tesco loan to buy my son a car for his birthday. Paid a £500 deposit, then heard nothing else from Tesco. She phoned Tesco as she hadn't heard anymore for a few days. Was told "you've got nothing to worry about you know you've been approved" She was then told despite have am excellent credit rating the underwriters had not approved the loan because she wasn't registered to vote at her new house (Moved in about 9 months ago) This was never mentioned on the application. She now can't go anywhere else as she has to declare she's been refused a loan!! Tesco didn't even think it was important to let her know the underwriters had overturned the decision. (obviously no profit in letting customers know they've been refused) A few lessons to learn 1: Make sure you're registered to vote when you buy a new house. 2: Don't trust Tesco when you're told your application has been accepted 3: Tesco loans may be one of the cheapest but remember you get what you pay for. Go to a proper bank

We have our home insurance through Tesco Bank. They accepted to pay a claim 6 weeks ago. Payment was promised to be in my account by 15th April. Its now 13th May and we've have had lies and excuses ever since. This morning I tried to raise a formal complain only to find out Tesco's Bank won't accept the complaint as the Insurance was underwritten by AmTrust. However I've got no contact for them, only a claims handling company called Towergate Marine Claims, who are the ones who keep lying about the money being paid. If Tesco Bank takes my money, then it's Tesco Bank who should sort out my problems, how dare they just wash their hands of me the minute I pay them! I won't be buying insurance though Tesco Bank again.

Their home insurance legal protection in my opinion is not worth the paper it is written on. It is administered by Arc legal who have no legally trained staff and deny claims wherever possible .

AVOID that company at all cost. THEY ARE A SCAM. They have auto renewed my car insurance without my consent and told me I signed an auto renewal form with is a total LIE as I know for sure we did told them that we do not want an auto renewal. And i would never sign such a form to ensure we only go through compare the market each year to get the movies deal. They have taken the money from my bank WITHOUT MY CONSENT SO THEY HAVE STORED MY BANK DETAIL FRAUDULENTLY!! And took the full year premium WITHOUT TELLING ME. When I realised, I contacted them and they say if I cancel I pay more than £300 that they are not willing to refund at all. This is a scam. AVOID THEM. That company is a JOKE

Have spent over twenty minutes on the phone waiting to speak to an ‘adviser’ - really poor service - I remember a time when we had wonderful ‘face to face’ banking that really cared about customer service - sadly, it is no more and we now have to sit, listen to dreadful apologies and muzak - call this progress?

This company WILL sell your data to fraud artists. I’ve been flooded by calls ever since my accident which happened half a year ago. It was incredibly difficult to get answers from them about the status of my claim. AVOID!

Honestly not worth using Tesco bank if you value your time and user friendly interfaces. The app is OK but you will never be able to access it as there are always issues with the security - meaning you have to waste your time calling and emailing Tesco. To get through the security issues you will have to wait for a LETTER FROM TESCO. I have a Natwest account and it is the easiest and most brilliant app you could hope for. Go to Natwest, theyve won awards for the online banking app!

As an insurance professional with 20 years of experience I have to say that I am not just disappointed with Tesco Bank but surprised there have been no high profile complaints of poor conduct to date. This year I made a very small claim (1/3rd my annual premium) which was declined despite being clearly covered. Furthermore I had also obtained approval prior to proceeding with the works and had demonstrated good faith by acting to minimise the loss. This claim was only approved when I made it clear I would submit a formal complaint citing the ambiguous wording and mis-leading / inconsistent advice. I have now received my renewal quote. Premium for like-for-like cover has increased by 75% with the premium rise in monetary terms being more than double the amount claimed. It is nonsensical to penalise a client who is in profit for the year – in fact profitability of a client is usually assessed over a period of 3 to 5 years. Insurers don’t like such attritional losses but they warrant a small symbolic penalty if anything. I have never seen a loss loading like this and I oversee the marketing of circa 2,000 insurance placements a year. As an existing client such a renewal quote is in fact a breach of the FCA’s TCF (Treating the Client Fairly) rules and, as an intermediary, Tesco Bank has shown no willingness to address it. Ultimately if you can’t rely on your insurance in the event of a claim - and if they do pay they expect you to more than repay them the follwing year - you’re buying nothing but a policy number.
