The support team are excellent, however the description of the work experience needs to be updated to provide volunteers with a more accurate and detailed description of what is involved. In comparison to the volunteers from other agencies all the global work and travel volunteers, including myself, felt disappointed by the limited amount of conservation work with animals. The work we did was physically hard, especially in the weather conditions, and more farm based; planting, digging and chopping. Our accommodation, although in a stunning location, was fairly isolated. The cost of taxis everyday to leave the farm did add up. Although it was interesting and part of the experience to eat the local food, it was a very carb based diet and when undertakings such physical work, meant we were all hungry most of the time. A bit of extra protein would have been much appreciated, we all lost weight! Apart from the above, the host family were very kind and hospitable and helped us to organise various trips and outings to different parts of San Cristobel and the other islands. Galapagos is an amazing and special place and I really enjoyed seeing a side of it not experienced by most tourists.

Hi Sarah, Thank you for sharing your feedback about your volunteer trip with us. We appreciate your kind words about our support team and appreciate your feedback! We understand your disappointment in the limited amount of conservation work with animals compared to other agencies. Our program focuses primarily on conservation of plants and reserves to support the well-being of the animals in their natural habitat. This is outlined in our Pre Departure Guide, however, we will have our team look into this to make necessary updates to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the work involved. Regarding your concerns about the physical nature of the work and the predominantly carb-based diet, we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Our in-country partner has informed us that they will address this with the host families to ensure volunteers receive more protein and beans in their meals. We appreciate your understanding that the local diet in Ecuador, including Galapagos, tends to be carbohydrate-based, and efforts are being made to accommodate the dietary needs of our volunteers. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the stunning location of your accommodation and the kindness and hospitality of the host family. It's wonderful that they assisted you in organizing various trips and outings to different parts of San Cristobel and the other islands, providing you with a unique experience beyond what most tourists typically encounter. Thank you for choosing our volunteer trip and for sharing your perspective. We hope that despite the challenges you faced, you were able to witness the beauty and uniqueness of the Galapagos Islands. If you have any further questions or if there's anything else we can assist you with, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thanks for travelling with Global Work & Travel!

My travel coordinator, Stacy and my arrival coordinator, Kim have been great to work with and very responsive before and during my time in NZ, but my entire experience with global work and travel was not worth the money. I booked the flight myself because it was 1/4 the price I was quoted, everything else I did book through global. Kim answered all my questions, was so kind and responsive. I did arrive with a job, but it did not come with accommodations like I wanted or was sold before I signed up with the company. Queenstown, NZ has a major housing issue. I was told it would be easy to find housing and a lot easier once I arrived which was not true. I ended up leaving back to Auckland and getting a new job because housing was difficult to get and I was exhausted from moving hostels every 3 days.

Hi Talisa, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review about your experience with Global Work & Travel. We are sorry to hear that your entire experience did not meet your expectations, despite the efforts of your Travel Concierge & Arrival Coordinator, Stacey and Kim. We are pleased to hear that you were able to arrive with a job and that Kim was helpful and responsive in answering your questions. However, we apologise that the accommodation situation did not meet your expectations. We understand that finding housing in Queenstown can be challenging, and we do our best to provide as much information and support as possible to our travellers. We will take your feedback into consideration to improve our services in the future. We appreciate your honest feedback and will use it to continue improving our services for future Global Travellers. We hope that you were able to enjoy your time in New Zealand despite the accommodation challenges, and we wish you all the best in your future travels and endeavours. Your Arrival Coordinator, Kim will continue to be there for you for continued support if you need anything at all1 Global Work & Travel!

I applied originally wanting to go to America but due to visa issues I got moved over to Canada (my choice). I was assigned my first coordinator and at first she was helpful but sometimes I felt like I was left alone to figure a lot of stuff out myself, especially once payment was made. I was then assigned to Eimear things became so much easier and she has been there every step of the way. Always answering emails, calls and giving great advice when it come to work places. We would of been lost without her. I had money left in my global account from changing from the us to Canada, however when it come to booking flights I felt like I was taken advantage of as the flight was nearly 30 percent more than what was on the airlines website. I was then told if I book that flight with global the remaining money in my account would be refunded which made me feel a little blackmailed. Overall I do think the company is great but some of the staff were not helpful. Thank god for Eimear.

My travel concierge behaves like an insurance salesman. Stacey has tried to sell me medical travel insurance for nearly $1000 for a 6-month trip to Argentina. When I asked why I needed this insurance, she told me that Argentina requires COVID-19 medical coverage to give out a visa. I asked if I absolutely had to purchase insurance through the company associated with Global Work and Travel, and she said that it is strongly recommended because she wanted to make sure that I met all the requirements to enter the country because she would hate for me to pay all of this money just to be stuck unable to enter Argentina (*more on this later). This felt like a scare tactic to me, so I looked into other insurance companies and purchased insurance for $200 for my 6-month trip instead. I uploaded my coverage letter, and the document was approved by my trip coordinator. Fast forward two months, and I took the initiative to reach out to my coordinator to make sure that I was all set and approved to go on the trip. Thank God that I did because she responded in the affirmative and told me that I was all set. But the very next day, Stacey calls me and tells me that my coordinator had emailed her to tell her that I didn't qualify to go on my trip because my insurance was "insufficient." I asked if I would have to purchase insurance through Global Work and Travel, and behold, she said yes (even though I had emailed her two months ago with my third party insurance to make sure it would be enough). When I asked what I needed, she said that I needed travel insurance in addition to COVID-19 medical coverage. I tried to insist that my insurance company had assured me that I would not be denied a visa and that my coordinator didn't mention this and had already approved me for travel, but Stacey kept replying with, “I don’t know what to tell you. I’m just doing my job. I would hate for you to miss out on your trip because you couldn’t enter the country. I actually had this happen to a traveler three days ago.” When I kept questioning why I suddenly needed travel insurance when this was NEVER mentioned before, she got a little testy and kept repeating that she was just doing her job and didn’t know what to tell me. She then told me to email my trip coordinator and ask her, which seemed strange to me because isn’t that her job? Stacey is the one who called me claiming that my coordinator had said I no longer qualified for this trip, so isn’t it on them to figure out if there was miscommunication? Regardless, this actually made me look into the visa requirements for myself, and the Argentinian government website actually states that the ONLY visa requirement for a U.S. citizen is a current passport. ??????? I emailed my coordinator who affirmed again that I was quite eligible for my trip and that it was just miscommunication. So my questions are: 1. Why did Stacey call me a month from my departure date with this frightening warning of how I won’t be able to go on this trip because of my insurance? It feels like a high pressure tactic meant to panic me into purchasing $1000 of insurance that I didn’t need. 2. Why was I told by Stacey months ago that I absolutely NEEDED insurance in order to get a visa when this turned out to be untrue according to the Argentinian government’s own website? I'm willing to assume that maybe Argentina had recently loosened its visa requirements. 3. Why the “I don’t know what to tell you. I’m just doing my job” when I was confused about conflicting information? Absurdly unprofessional. 4. What is up with this “miscommunication”? Was I just lucky that I got it in writing a day ahead that I had all of my documents in order? Did my trip coordinator actually email Stacey about travel insurance? OH! And they pressure you into buying the plane ticket from them as well. The same ticket costed $300 more through them, but it was “recommended” because they will help you reschedule your flight in case it got cancelled (but doesn’t the airline do that anyways?). On a positive note, for the most part, my trip coordinators were communicative and professional. Stacey was also professional and agreeable up until our last interaction. I would almost recommend this company to others, but only as long as you are ready to advocate for yourself and do some research on your own. I will be back to update this review after I actually depart for my trip. Fingers crossed.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review of your experience so far, although not the review we like to see, we appreciate your feedback so we can take it on board. We understand that you have since spoken with your Trip Coordinator who has clarified what is needed for your trip. We apologise for any miscommunication regarding what travel insurance was needed. It is our duty of care as a travel agent/concierge to ensure all of our customers have comprehensive coverage whilst travelling abroad. Unfortunately in travel we are faced with many horror stories from customers who have not received the correct level of travel insurance or none at all. Choosing a company with a good reputation means they will know how to look after you in your time of need, which is why we recommend Global Travel Cover. We hope everything has been clarified for you, if you need anything further please do not hesitate to contact your Trip Coordinator directly! You are going to have the best time on your teach trip & we can't wait to hear from you once you have arrived to then review us again! Thank you,

High pressure marketing tactics, they initially told me there were a lot of applications to go through, giving a feel of scarcity. 25 minutes later in the conversation they told me I’m on board! They wanted me to pay the deposit right away and pressured me into paying up front the full cost of the trip. That was a big turn around from what they told me earlier. Seriously if everything they promised works out I’ll be over the moon happy . Just be careful of the high pressure sales tactics.

Hello, We're sorry that you had that experience with Global originally and have felt uncomfortable with our service. At times it can seem as if we're being a little bit pushy. The only reason we are this way is that just like everything else in travel, everything is subject to availability. We know that for all of our travellers jumping on board sooner rather than later is in their best interests. We're glad that your orientation helped your view on us and we can promise from here it's only going to be good things. However, most importantly, welcome to Australia! We're sure you're going to have the most amazing time!
