Sadly I have to advise that my experience was less than satisfactory because the order was wrongly picked and whilst this means I have a free piece of Ash wood it does reflect badly on the standard of checking done before the box is sealed. I also found that the larger bowl blanks are not the size quoted which on this occasion does matter to me, it seems that Toolpost advise that buyers of timber visit the store to select for themselves but this does not seem to be stated on their website. In addition I find that comment rather strange when they sell such items online. It is a shame that my previous good experience of buying has been let down and I would say that customer service standards must be looked to whether the customer is in front of you or not !

We can only apologise for the service you received in this instance which fell well below our normal standards. I would request that, if you are purchasing timber for a specific application, that demands that it meets certain criteria, you call and discuss your needs with us so that we can check that the timber supplied meets those criteria. We do supply timber that is not 'bean-can' perfect as we are not Tesco and not selling beans! We expect that our bowl blanks will be used to create bowls: that demands that the rear corners will be cut away as waste. Timber is a precious and diminishing natural resource and so we accept timber with a little 'wane' on the corners in the interest of environmental sustainability: we'd like our children and grandchildren to have a little timber left for them to enjoy so we try not to waste it for cosmetic reasons. We now appreciate - in retrospect - that you were planning to use this timber in a different manner and that made the blanks supplied unsuitable for your intended use. Had we known, we could have either supplied blanks which matched your needs or explained to you why we could not, and maybe even reached a compromise that would enable you to complete the job in hand. I'm sorry that didn't happen and that things worked out other than as you had planned. However there is no good excuse beyond 'human error' for mis-picking a product or for making spelling errors. We are clearly human but also clearly at fault in this regard, for which I apologise.

Expected delays were not explained at the time of order.

In the text on thee toolsets were described as "coming in a wooden box", but it showed up in a cardboardbox. Dissapionting, but the tools are like I expected.

Unfortunately you do seem to be confusing this purchase with some other, made from a different vendor. We do not sell woodturning tools in wooden boxes, never have and probably never will. Neither your order, nor the website description, nor the product description says anything about a wooden box. So, I'm sorry that you are disappointed but that disappointment is not related to anything about this transaction. I'm happy that the tools are to your satisfaction as we know they would be - we only sell good tools. As we say to all of our client: if you have a problem, please contact us in the first instance so that we can correct any errors. Whilst in this case, there is no fault to correct, it would have ben useful to have resolved this for you immediately instead of waiting for a review.

Despite being told, when placing order, that carriage would be £11.90 I was charged a much increased £15.88. I think this was poor practice and has left me with a poor opinion of how The ToolPost deals with it's customers.

Jack. Why didn't you get straight back into contact as soon as you spotted the error? You are perfectly correct: someone here has made an error and charged you the shipping rate for deliveries in the Republic. We'll arrange for a credit to your card for the difference, today. Apologies for the error. Maybe we need to improve the geography syllabus in schools too?

Items appeared in stock on the web site and weren't. Delivery address was ignored and goods sent to invoice address. Communications were good and polite which recovered things.

Would like service better if delivery costs were included or more reasonably priced. Three parcels received at same time using same delivery service, this parcel cost £7.20, one cost £4.50 and the other was free!!

The Robert Sorby 1/2" spindle gouge (fingernail profile) is a wonderful product as is the Abranet sanding mesh. The gouge was listed as 'in stock' but the following day I got an email to say this was wrong and there would be a slight delay. This turned out to be just over 2 weeks which I thought was a bit long and I was never given an accurate time - it was just wait and see..... If I'd known it would be over a week I may have purchased a different spindle gouge as I needed my replacement ASAP. Never mind I'm turning happy now!

The service was prompt; however I felt that the cost of postage & packaging was excessive - more than double what it actually cost to post the package in a small jiffy bag.

It would be useful if the website showed which items are out of stock. I waited 4 weeks for delivery, but they took my payment immediately!! If the site had shown items out of stock, I would have chosen something else.

We was waiting for our delivery for two weeks. And they reply us only after that when we sent a couple of request with questions where our product is.

i found out that the fourth item on my list was not in stock. But this emerged only when the other 3 items had been delivered. There was no indication as to when the fourth item might turn up. No-one has been in touch. is this normal?

I found that P&P £5.88 for two small Burrs to be posted, excessive.

Review is for an olive wood turning square. I would not have chosen this particular piece which had two cracks at one end, rendering about 300 mm unusable. Perhaps the lesson is to always choose your own wood. Delivery was swift.

Sorry to hear of the cracked timber. As you may be aware, this is a real problem with certain timbers, such as Olivewood and that is the reason that we keep it wrapped in film. However, if you drop me an email (peter@toolpost.co.uk) so that we can trace your order, I'm sure that we can find you a replacement for the cracked piece! Sorry that I didn't see your review earlier. If ever you have a problem such as this with a purchase please tell us, don't simply write it off as bad luck. We'll always try to help if cusomers make reasonable representations to us. Choosing your own woood is always the best route, but it is a luxury uavailable to many of our clients so we have to make a decent job of delivering only; usable timber to them. I hope to hear from you shortly. Thanks. (Peter@toolpost.co.uk)

Living close by I tend to visit the shop in person. You have an amazing 'real' shop and should be very proud. I find the website quite difficult to navigate at times. As a beginner to wood turning I don't know the names of things and without that knowledge it can be more of a problem. Many of the pages have so much information on them it can be daunting. Great that you have the info, maybe it can be split up a little somehow. If it weren't for the in person visits I'm not sure I would have persevered (sp) with the website or just gone to another that is easier to use. So in summary. Great range of products unfortunately let down by the website. I hope you find this useful and take it in the way it is intended. Best of luck in developing things further

Usually my orders come within a couple of days. Unfortunately, for ordering items that needed re-stocking, there was some delay in the process. eventually when the item was re-stocked it was not quickly associated my pending customer order. Fortunately, it was eventually noticed when I emailed to inquire about the delay. Otherwise, I am satisfied.
