The goods were delivered a month after I placed the order. I also did not receive an order confirmation when placing the order for some reason so was not sure if I had placed anything anymore, especially since nothing arrived. Possibly just a glitch as I have the impression normally service is pretty good.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We appreciate that at times delays can be frustrating - unfortunately in this instance we were awaiting the good from the manufacturers in the USA whom were also awaiting some items from further down in the supply chain. With regards to order confirmations, you should have definitely received one of these the moment you placed your order - at times these can find their way to junk or spam folders. If you ever have any worries or concerns or would like to be updated on your order, we are always here to respond to emails and calls. Thanks again for shopping with us and we hope you enjoy your purchases.

Nice site and good re-act to my order, one smal problem there was no zip adres code on the label of the package and it takes time to find out for the postman where I live..

I asked for my order to be left in our rear sun porch if we were not at home. The parcel was left next to a wheelie bin instead.

Sorry to hear that the courier did not carry out the requested task. We have passed this feedback to the logistics agent to help ensure this does not happen in future. Thanks again for sharing your feedback. Kind regards, The ToolPost Team

Carriage charge of £5.58 for a 13mm diameter cutter no bigger than a washer was exorbitant. Highest charge I have ever paid. I will remember this in future. Only reason for the purchase was for a BCT cutter.

Thank you for providing your feedback. We appreciate that in isolation this may appear to be a costly shipping charge, however these are the same prices we are charged to provide you with a swift and insured service on goods up to a value of £30. This does includes a small (50p) contribution towards the packaging for the items plus a contribution towards the time of a member of the team to pick, pack and book the item. Our next shipping rate is £7.85 and covers all UK packages up to 30KG. Such is the nature of shipping, the cost has to be covered somewhere, either in the item price or as stand alone charges, since the service does not come for free. I would love to be able to offer free or discounted shipping, though sadly, retail margins do not allow for these to be covered in a sustainable business model... We continually work to identify means to offer best value for customers, whilst also ensuring that should something go wrong with shipping, we can track and resolve this ASAP - this is only possible using premium rate services.

Products very good, next day delivery service good but overpriced for a small very light weight ziffy bag. Advised toolpost that their website is poor and hard to use. We understand they will be updating it?.

Postage is expensive. Some choice on postage would be good.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. We pass on the direct costs of the courier service, without any margin, to keep these as low as we can. Any alternative service (The Post Office included) would either prove more expensive or not offer the level of insurance/tracking which we believe necessary or which the legal requirements demand on certain items. Our UK shipping is a flat rate, as the logistics and packaging do not differ based on size or weight - up to a certain point of course. We have worked hard to build a relationship with our logistics company to ensure that where issues do arise, we are able to resolve them quickly and effectively for our customers - we do not believe that we would have the same control of confidence in alternative means of shipping. Thanks again for shopping with us and I hope you understand our perspective and situation on the above. Best, Felix

Good service but postage is charged for each item expensive.

Thank you for your feedback. The shipping charges are (for the most part) a flat rate which reflect those costs which we incur from the logistics company - we don't make anything from shipping charges. In order to maintain the speed of delivery for in-stock items, these are the unfortunate realities. Whilst we would love to offer free shipping, as a retailer this would simply mean we had to increase our product prices to cover the costs, which would actually work out more expensive to our customers in most cases. Thanks again for your feedback and we look forward to your custom again in the future.

They completed the transaction satisfactorily. However, I find that having a conversation with the girls on the telephone is like pulling teeth. There is no rapport with the customer and advice and product information is not offered freely, it has to be prised out of them. This is why I only rate them as just ok.

Good morning. Thank you for sharing your feedback and we appreciate your honesty. Whilst we make every effort to advise and guide our clientele, on occasion this can go awry. I have complete and total confidence in the team here and their extensive knowledge drawn from many years in the industry. That said, I shall share this feedback and ensure we always put our best foot forward. If there is anything specific you would like to discuss, please do let us know.

The review below was written before speaking with Alex regarding my assumption of the handles being laminated. I don’t claim to be an expert on timbers by any stretch of the imagination and because of the tight grain of the hardwood used I mistakenly took this to be laminated which is not the case. So I’m here to rectify my review. The knives are fine, I did sharpen further as Alex suggests in his description of them, and they are holding an edge well. It’s my first time buying from the ToolPost so I only have my first purchase to go on. Let’s start from the beginning. The communication from them was faultless and the delivery system of courier top notch and very speedy giving me updates and an hour window nearer time. I ordered the five carving knife set with a ten tool leather roll to keep my new tools in. I picked the knives based on the photos as that was my only option, a visit is to far to pick by sight and handling. The pictures seemed to show the handles as solid hardwood yet the handles are made of laminated wood, I know this is strong enough but would I have picked them had I known, no, I wouldn’t, I’m sure of that. yet it’s not enough for me to return them as it’s not affecting the performance of them. It does make me more dubious about buying any more as I don’t have confidence in the photos now. The blades were as described sharp enough for sale and use yet could happily benefit from more sharpening which I have done. As indeed it says exactly that in the description, They seem to hold an edge well enough even on well matured oak and I love my leather tool roll. I can’t give a review of total satisfaction because of the above reason which is a disappointment but the tools and red laminate will I’m sure perform for years to come. Just wish I could trust the photos still as I need more tools in the not to distant future

Good morning David. We're sorry to read the above feedback on the knives and your impression that they are made from laminate as this is simply not the case, they are solid hardwood with a lacquered and polished outer surface. The only exception to that is the 8945/1 knife which has a multi-layered, aesthetic, coloured laminate - and is actually the most premium of the set. I will contact you privately to try to better understand the concerns (and causes) you have outlined.

The quality of the wood was good, but the dimensions stated were well out and made two of the pieces un-useable. The service was good but at a price.

Hi Mark. Thanks for the feedback. You have, as far as I am aware, not called to discuss this situation which might enable us to better understand what has occurred. Timber is always sized approximately, and some timbers change a lot in size during their life due to changes in moisture content but it is always possible that we have picked and sent the wrong piece of timber? Without knowing what you ordered and received, this is impossible to determine since we have no reference to either who you are or the timber you purchased. We don't knowingly supply undersized timber but would always recommend that if sizing is critical you call fist and we can then check available stocks and advise. Since you say that the dimensions were 'well out' this is something that we would like to investigate. A millimetre od two might be acceptable but 'well out' suggests more like an inch or two which we would all find wholly unacceptable. We will await you feedback, if you'd care to call us.

The parcel arrived safely but only just , a part of the address was missing and had it been a larger area I would not have received the item a slight error as the address on the receipt was perfect.

Thanks, Ian, for the confirmation of delivery - as expected. The address used on the parcel is that determined by the courier's shipment booking system as adequate to secure safe delivery and clearly they go it right. Isn't a great when technology really works well!? UPS right on the ball.

More like unhappy! Went all through the online ordering process to the check out point. Chose a method of payment using a credit card for a message to come up saying I was not entitled to use the Toolpost payment from my server. I never even had the opportunity to click on any bank card details to pay. This message just kept coming up. After 3 attempts I telephoned your office, and was told it may be my bank. Rubbish! They were going to call me back if there was a problem. I heard nothing then got an email saying everything had gone through. So not my bank or card, but your system. The good news is that the items arrived a few days later. It may be worth checking why I never got the opportunity to even get to the selection page for payment. Very frustrating!! regards Richard Edler

Richard, thank for your feedback. I'm sorry that you were let down by the internet but I'm afraid that experience shows the internet is less than 100% reliable. We can only assume that somewhere a server did not respond in time or a line went down, preventing completion. We had many other orders that day, all successfully completed on line, so really don't know why your own should have failed. There is certainly no opportunity on our site for anything to tell you that you are not entitled to use a credit card on our site. We simply have no way of doing that. The payment process is hosted independently but again I am not aware that such a message would ever originate there. What sounds most likely is that somewhere in your network, or on your PC, something is set to prohibit such a transaction, for security purposes, and it was this that triggered the unusual response. I am sorry that one of my colleagues, in attempting to explain that may have happened, possibly gave a reason that did not sound reasonable to you: I believe that she was simply trying to be helpful. We would not call you back to confirm the completion of the manual transaction if, as you suggest, the agreed process was that we should only call back in the event of failure. The manual transaction completed and thus there was no reason to call back - as agreed. It is not at all unusual for a card that has failed an online transaction, should work when transacted manually. The transaction and communication systems entailed in the two processes are entirely different. I am happy that the transaction was completed efficiently once you contacted us about the difficulties and pleased that the goods arrived with you promptly. We too would be eager to understand why the original failure occurred but only someone with a better knowledge of your computer configuration, or the communication between the various nodes on the internet would be able to shed any light. I'm very sorry that you had this experience. My only suggestion is that if ever you are in doubt, or uncomfortable with a transaction , please phone us and together we can usually overcome any difficulties.

The item was delivered as per the order. However the delivery took too much time. In comparison, Axminster appear far more efficient

Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately there is nothing that we can do to make La Poste deliver the goods more quickly. For a low value order such as this, it wold be unreasonable to send it by courier at much higher cost. We emailed you when the goods were despatched, which occurred the same day you ordered, to let you know that the package was en route and to confirm the method. We sympathise with your desire to have the goods as soon as possible but we have no control over the efficiency of La Poste. Our sympathy is much more heartfelt because we have more problems with La Poste than with any other postal service in Europe. I understand your anguish but what more can we do than follow the delivery process agreed upon at the time of ordering and despatch the goods on the very same day that you place your order on line? I think that if I lived in France I would probably be extremely frustrated too: maybe Monsieur Macron will sort out the postal services as a matter of priority - we certainly hope so! On behalf of The ToolPost my sympathies are entirely with you in your frustration.

Telephoned to place an order. Had to make sure I was purchasing the right jaws for my chuck. I was made to feel as though I should order on line. I ordered the items and was given a price. Upon querying the price I was told it was plus VAT. (only later at home did I see that prices were plus VAT which was stated at the bottom of the long page) Upon asking for a total the Gent said "well you can see the prices on the page" Well I could not as I do not have internet at work. He then said "well about £150, now your bankrupt" Nothing wrong with the jaws I ordered, just the attitude. Shall not be buying from that source again. .

Very fast delivery ..arrived next day. The carving set I bought was very nice design in a quality leather tool roll. Only disappointing thing was how blunt the knives were. Took quite a bit of work to get them satisfactorily sharp after which they were very nice to use.

Stephen, Thanks for your feedback and I'm pleased that the knives are now proving effective. We do not make claims for the as-delivered sharpness of knives for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the knives undergo a lot of handling, packing, unpacking, re-packing etc. prior to shipment and we believe that even a perfectly sharpened knife will deteriorate from perfection through that process. Secondly, the manner of sharpening is very much an individual preference and this, combined with the belief that no craftsman worth his salt would want to use a tool not personally sharpened, has equally made us shy away from a move to pre-sharpening. As you will have discovered, we do provide comprehensive instructions on the sharpening and care of knives, with every knife shipment, in an endeavour to persuade users to take their sharpening 'responsibility' seriously. You are clearly competent in this area and have brought the knives to a good 'working' standard. We believe that this experience and knowledge will stand you in good stead as a knife user. Thanks again for the feedback and we wish you well in developing your wood carving and whittling skills further. For our part we will keep the pre-sharpening situation under review.

On this occasion I had a good transaction with The ToolPost, however this isn't always the case. The staff are often arrogant and show little tolerance for customers who do not have their level of knowledge. It is a shame that they are sole importers for many of the products they supply. I would certainly shop elsewhere given the choice.
