The insert I ordered for my Oneway chuck came very quickly-- in fact on the next day! Frankly though I thought the postage charge was a bit excessive since the stamp on the package said £3.35, and I was charged £5.58. I also feel it would be more honest to show prices including VAT. For a £21 item it ended up £10 dearer. You asked!

I purchased a 2" chuck and a 1Morse Taper Arbor to fit my Axminster Lathe, they don't make one yet. The service was very good, easy use web site, tracked delivery, excellent information regarding Order number, delivery details and tracking number. The chuck and arbor are of excellent quality and fit a treat! Thank you The Toolpost.

Sadly I have to advise that my experience was less than satisfactory because the order was wrongly picked and whilst this means I have a free piece of Ash wood it does reflect badly on the standard of checking done before the box is sealed. I also found that the larger bowl blanks are not the size quoted which on this occasion does matter to me, it seems that Toolpost advise that buyers of timber visit the store to select for themselves but this does not seem to be stated on their website. In addition I find that comment rather strange when they sell such items online. It is a shame that my previous good experience of buying has been let down and I would say that customer service standards must be looked to whether the customer is in front of you or not !

We can only apologise for the service you received in this instance which fell well below our normal standards. I would request that, if you are purchasing timber for a specific application, that demands that it meets certain criteria, you call and discuss your needs with us so that we can check that the timber supplied meets those criteria. We do supply timber that is not 'bean-can' perfect as we are not Tesco and not selling beans! We expect that our bowl blanks will be used to create bowls: that demands that the rear corners will be cut away as waste. Timber is a precious and diminishing natural resource and so we accept timber with a little 'wane' on the corners in the interest of environmental sustainability: we'd like our children and grandchildren to have a little timber left for them to enjoy so we try not to waste it for cosmetic reasons. We now appreciate - in retrospect - that you were planning to use this timber in a different manner and that made the blanks supplied unsuitable for your intended use. Had we known, we could have either supplied blanks which matched your needs or explained to you why we could not, and maybe even reached a compromise that would enable you to complete the job in hand. I'm sorry that didn't happen and that things worked out other than as you had planned. However there is no good excuse beyond 'human error' for mis-picking a product or for making spelling errors. We are clearly human but also clearly at fault in this regard, for which I apologise.

Great Quality products & quick delivery... if only they sent it to the right address! Mistaken delivery address for billing address.

Very polite and helpful, let down by incorrect recording of customer details leading to wrong delivery.

There was a glitch over not noticing that the delivery address was different to the invoice address (suggest another check in your system) otherwise excellent fast service and product.

The delivery, via DPD, was very speedy. Amongst the order I bought an African Blackwood 50mm sq x 300mm. I know that they can occasionally not be all black, which I would not buy, and I would not have bought this one had I seen it first. At £27.50 I expect the wood to be all usable and this is far from it. I have bought from you before but will not be back. Keith Elliott

Keith. Sorry that you were disappointed but you appear to be an experienced turner and will know that timber can be variable in colour. Blackwood trees are tiny and therefore getting colour-perfect timber 100% of the time is difficult: we don't saw the timber, simply sell it 'as bought'. Trimming every bit of sapwood is very environmentally wasteful and for most turners the corners are 'waste' (turned away) from a square anyway so most converters accept sapwood intrusion. Timber is always best bought in person as it is variable and can only be assessed as to suitability 'in the hand'. We really would prefer not to sell timber at arms length but not to do so would rob many people of the opportunity to access the material. If you have particular needs regarding timber and you cannot get to select in person, then please let us know. Without guidance we can only supply timber as held on the shelves. We try to be helpful but we can't help you if you don't tell us how you can be helped. My other request would be that, if a product is unsuitable, you contact us to discuss your issues so that we can try to find an equitable solution. The first we knew of this issue was this public complaint. I'm sorry you are unhappy, but even sorrier you didn't let us know directly and let us try to work out a resolution. Peter.

My recent purchase was the Beall Buffing System, the delivery service was excellent and was delivered in the timescale sent by DPD. I think the description of the articles I purchased could be made better ( a photograph of each item with a fuller description would be an improvement on these items)

The goods are excellent, the website is very helpful and full of useful material. Delivery is timely. Unfortunately the price for the goods is very high compared to some other suppliers and when you add postage as well this makes it almost prohibitive. I was going to buy some Arbranet but found that Axminster were far cheaper.

In the text on thee toolsets were described as "coming in a wooden box", but it showed up in a cardboardbox. Dissapionting, but the tools are like I expected.

Unfortunately you do seem to be confusing this purchase with some other, made from a different vendor. We do not sell woodturning tools in wooden boxes, never have and probably never will. Neither your order, nor the website description, nor the product description says anything about a wooden box. So, I'm sorry that you are disappointed but that disappointment is not related to anything about this transaction. I'm happy that the tools are to your satisfaction as we know they would be - we only sell good tools. As we say to all of our client: if you have a problem, please contact us in the first instance so that we can correct any errors. Whilst in this case, there is no fault to correct, it would have ben useful to have resolved this for you immediately instead of waiting for a review.

The service is very prompt and the delivery is prompt and very well managed. When I make an order, I have to initially refer to the Robert Sorby Catalogue first in order to exactly fix the requirement and part numbers as the Tool-Post web-site information on their products is sometimes not very clear.

We have sympathy with your observation. We hope to be launching our new website soon and that, we hope, will overcome shortfalls such as these. Still, I'm pleased that we are able to resolve the issues for you by phone. Thanks.

Tools good, Website abysmal difficult to navigate looks totally hand coded and outdated. Does not cope with autofill tools.

Mea Culpa. Hopefully the new website will be up soon and that should resolve these issues. Believe me, as the poor sap that has to do al that hand coding, the change can't come soon enough. Small business have challenges in finding the resources to make huge website rebuilds so all we can ask is that you view the situation sympathetically until we can get the requisite amount of work completed.

Very prompt service, but a little disappointed with one of the blanks which had a nasty knot hole which went three quarters of an inch into the blank.

The smock is a brilliant design - shame the VAT element wasn't given more prominence in the advert! If I'm to nit pick I think the sleeves could do to be a little bit longer (no doubt there are those who would suggest the opposite - perhaps the answer might be multiple lengths - I know stock numbers probably preclude this) I think the collar fastening might be better as a button and dual button holes. The Velcro makes the front of the collar very stiff and when you bend your head forward to look down it tends to restrict breathing by digging into the neck! As I have said, the design is good - it just needs a bit of tweaking

John, thanks for your feedback. I'm afraid that the only answer to a perfect fit is to find the perfect tailor. We have lengthened the sleeves and yes, as you say, people have complained that they are 'too long'! There's no winning in this game, it seems. May I make a suggestion regarding the collar (which will soften as the garment is used and washed). Instead of wrapping the collar closely around your neck like a scarf, try bringing the two closure ends together such that they cross at about ninety degrees rather than being in line. This flattens the collar but still keeps the chips away. You can adjust the angle of crossover to alter the protrusion of the collar. Maybe you're a bit like me and don't have a lot of neck to wrap it around! Thanks again for the feedback.

Despite being told, when placing order, that carriage would be £11.90 I was charged a much increased £15.88. I think this was poor practice and has left me with a poor opinion of how The ToolPost deals with it's customers.

Jack. Why didn't you get straight back into contact as soon as you spotted the error? You are perfectly correct: someone here has made an error and charged you the shipping rate for deliveries in the Republic. We'll arrange for a credit to your card for the difference, today. Apologies for the error. Maybe we need to improve the geography syllabus in schools too?
