“Over the many years that I have been banking with Triodos Bank, there has never been an incident that made me lose my trust in them. I have held a TESSA (in the days when they existed), an ISA, savings accounts and investments. This is the only bank that is 100% transparent in how our money is used. Their investments are only in ethical, environmentally friendly and socially beneficial projects. For example, from the very beginning of genetically engineered (or genetically modified, GM) crops, the Bank has let the bandwagon go by and firmly refused to undertake any support of this technology -- a stance now supported by overwhelming evidence from farmers and independent scientists and medical doctors, despite claims by the industry. So I bank with Triodos because it supports the enterprises that are good for people and the planet and avoids investing in projects that are detrimental. Do Triodos Bank's executives take bonuses? This question was raised during an AGM I attended a few years ago. The Managing Director said "Yes". Later, during the discussion of finances, he elaborated. The Bank had done well, and the management felt that they deserved a bonus. They decided on £300 (that's not £300,000!) and everyone who works at the Bank got that bonus. The stability of Triodos Bank was clearly illustrated during the crisis of 2008. While many other banks were collapsing and some were being propped up by the government, Triodos sailed by unperturbed. They had made no dodgy investments and were therefore immune to the banking chaos. The only, and tangential, repercussion was on exchange rates between the UK and some other countries. Surely there must be something I do not like about Triodos Bank? All right, yes, there is one thing: it's the new style (although a few years old now) of the Bank's magazine, 'The Colour of Money'. The cover pictures are usually especially dreadful. My rating of the Bank: 100% (unless I take a point off for the magazine format!)”

“Have had an ISA and online saver account with Triodos for a number of years now. Originally signed up due to ethical credentials, and always found them to be very helpful and responsive. The online banking site is the best I've used, very user friendly with all the info you need, also informs you if you are close to your withdrawal limit so you don't get caught out by unexpected fees. It's not patronising or over simplified like other banking sites - just honest and helpful. Would highly recommend.”

“A breath of fresh air! A bank that genuinely cares about using money for positive change and transparent about who they help so I feel that my savings are being used for a good cause plus pay interest too. Very helpful staff too”

“I have had a savings account with Triodos for several years because I value sustainability principles and the stability of a bank relying on funds of individual savers not fickle big business investors. BUT have been very disappointed at the process of trying to move from the account I had which had very low interest to the new Tridos saver offering 1% interest. They messed up and did not transfer funds to me on schedule for 30 days so I was in a crisis as the funds had to be there for other essential purchases- in the end it was over 40 days from my initial instruction. Trying to shift to a better interest account within Triodos it was frankly a nightmare. My loyalty and being an existing customer did not seem to be valued at all. It took ages and lots of silly paper work and information had to be sent even though it was information they already had because I was already a customer. The final insult when it was finally sorted was an information pack in the post saying "Welcome to Triodos". Just like all the other banks it seems loyalty means nothing and is not valued.”

“Triodos has excellent customer service. Everyone I have spoken to has been friendly, helpful and informative. Opening my account was easy and accessing it online is straightforward. I like being kept informed of what the bank is doing. I am recommending Triodos to anyone who will listen.”

“The ethics are main reason we chose to bank with Triodos, but setting all that aside, banking with Triodos seems to be less hassle than other banks. In particular the on line banking just works, with fewer annoying adverts than other banks. J/.”

“Knowing where my money goes is something I value and Triodos Bank helps me do this. The website is very useful & provides clear information about the companies they invest in. I enjoy reading the blogs from the companies and the positive impact they have on the environment.
