Basically I find Volumio as a very good and clear system to manage my local media but also to be able to play. When upgrading to the new version 3, there were a few problems with my system at the beginning, which led to me having to reinstall it. However, the process was very quick and unproblematic. Since then Volumio is running stable and reliable again. My favorite thing about it is the versatility - especially in terms of supported hardware and services. I use Tidal Connect and Spotify, but also Roon to control my Volumio endpoint and Volumio turns out to be a reliable all-rounder. I am very happy with it! :)

Overall i am very pleased with volumio. There are a few minor things that are not working as i would like. The artwork from the albums that are stored on my Synology nas is loading very slowly. On my other systems e.g. Kodi and Moode this is not the case. The volume button could have a more prominent place, espacially in the "now playing" screen. And of course there is the IOS problem of not having the possibility to share from Soundcloud to Volumio. But that is an IOS issue and not so much a Volumio problem. Other than that Volumio works like a charm. It's fast, stable, clean and the new look is very good. The possibility of using bluetooth is also great.

Works very well, nice method to build a streamer with a raspberry pi

I have Volumio installed on a Pi3 in combination with a "Topping D10s Mini USB" DAC. Own music runs via a small SSD on one of the USB ports and additionally I am streaming Tidal-HiFi. So far I haven't had any significant problems. Improvement desired: would be nice if Volumio could display the cover images from the Flac files.

When it works it’s a beautiful thing! I love it. But, there are idiosyncratic things happening that sometimes cause concern. I know it’s a system that was originally free, and many people like to modify code for their purposes. So, maybe it has to be this way. But, honestly, it still feels like a beta test sometimes.

I am pleased to use Volumio especially with tidal connect. My only complaint is the Volumio mobile app that connect to my raspberry pie. When I play songs from within the Volumio app let’s say using Qobuz the app has issue tracking the songs I am playing especially when my phone’s screen goes to sleep. I always have to kill the app and relaunch it in order to catch the right playing track at the time.

It is quite good but I should like to address some complaints: first, sometimes it takes too Long to login (with Pi4) and secondly and more important: IT SHOULD BE AN MQA CORE DECODER such as usb audio player pro or audirvana

Generally volumio is good, but very often there is WiFi connection problem . Each time I open from the tray, connection is lost, and need restart application, to restore it.

Volumio is a great sound quality player and offers many DAC options and configurable settings. I used it with Raspberry Pi and iOS platforms. The interface is brilliant, instinctive and the look-and-feel makes this product a serious competitor for any other player in the market. Unfortunately, I'm sometimes facing some issues with the WiFi connection to network (need to reboot hardware) and this with many Raspberry Pi boards tried. Also, I need to erase and flash my SD card again at least one time every 3-4 months (16Go Classe-10 preferred) without any reason and even by proceeding every time with a proper shutdown sequence. What could be improved on RPi are the reliability/startup/self-repairing methods and perhaps to provide more compatibility with different hardware, especially TFT displays where it becomes a nightmare configuring the touchscreen except for the 7" TFT official. Nevertheless, I used it for many years and can't find any equivalent in the segment. Only Rune Audio was quite close from Volumio and seemed more reliable but unfortunately discarded and not maintained.

4.5 Stars. Quick responsive system on my Volumio Primo. The only caveat is that sometimes the iPad application freezes and you have to restart volumio on the iPad (hence 1/2 star is missing). My recommendation to the iPad programme developer is that the back button should always be visible in the menu to support easier browsing through larger libraries. Sayin that I like Volumio and Primo experience that makes listening to the music enjoyable.

I've been using the free version for two weeks now on a Pi2B with HifiBerry DAC+ with no issues. My favorite radio station .113FM Hits played for a few days and then suddenly it wouldn't no more. Consistency is the name of the game Volumio, fix this or be prepared to lose potential upgraders.

At first: I use Volumio in that version, coming with the miniDSP SHD STUDIO. The advertisement said, that I contains a licens for Volumio Premium, that means, the support for CD drive rip&play. So I bought the HiFi ROSE RSA780, the only USB drive on the market, dedicated to audio reproduction. Misfortunately the RSA780 wasn‘t recognized under Volumio SHD. And the plugin CD Sound by Nanomesher isn‘t listest there. The people from miniDSP can‘t explain, why. I have updated the old Volumio version on a RasPi3b, wich convinced me, to buy the SHD with Volumio, but now under the Thors release, the CD plugin by Nanomesher is dissapeared. Now I‘m confused, how to mary the SHD Volumio and the ROSE RSA780, which would, of cause, be a splendid couple. Best regards Martin

Briefly tried to see what Volumio is. I have tried with free membership, and was very glad with the product. Spotify works fine, both connect and browing app. I was happy with the gapless playback which works pretty well RPi 2, whose hardware is pretty weak. The only shortcoming is that Volunio does not read and sort songs as per tracks number. I noticed that playing music from Windows music library. I know that the issue is with Volumio, since all other platforms such as Kodi or BubbleUPnP read and sort songs properly. I believe this is something that developers can resolve easily. Otherwise highly recommended.

Works well but periodically the android app becomes unresponsive and need to login to the web interface to operate it. Love that you can cast to it so easily.

Using free version since three yrs now. It works pretty well, the GUI is designed beautifully and the media and Spotify integration works good. Nice that root access is not blocked so that I can fire scripts to remotely shutdown. Would wish that it runs in ramfs but I had no SD card issues till now anyway. BT would be a nice add on but the payment plan just for BT is not very attractive. I‘d love to have a one time payment for BT.

I really like the functionality of Volumio on my raspberry pi. Especially the integration with Spotify premium and the incredible number of internet based radio stations. I also have a dac installed to connect the raspberry to my hifi set. Right now I am looking for more integration in HomeAssistant, to dim the audio when the doorbell rings. I would definitely buy Volumio for a reasonable price, but don’t like monthly/yearly subscriptions.

It’s a really complete solution streaming audio. I just wish there was a ”lifetime” subscription as Plex have done. The manifest gui is great. Although I use the the free tier so sorry to see that I cannot use it. As of now the subription is to expensive for what it is.

Volumio works stable even on Pi3B w/ Spotify plugin. it saves my daily life. Thanks a lot.

Streaming and digital in general is new to me. Vinyl was my first choice for too many years. Choosing an rpi4 through i2s to a dac and using volumio, opened up new horizons in music listening. Tidal connect remains in Volumio 3 sometimes a bit problematic but quite better than volumio 2. CD quality and DSD is really good through Volumio but I cannot say the same about hi resolution and MQA ( a bit weird sounding exaggerating high frequencies? I don't know) . In any case controlling your music from your smartphone is a luxury that I can't live without it anymore. I am sure that the Volumio team will continue the good job and the reasonable pricing policy. The support is great and setting the rpi is really easy.
