Found that moode fits my needs better (e.g. free Bluetooth audio, more options for individual configuration)

I did not use Volumio anymore because Moode, on my setup, it is work and sound better. And it is free... Probably I will try it again, one day.

I have Volumio running on three different Raspberry Pi 4s. All work perfectly. I really appreciate the “Bit Exact” functionality. The flexibility of controlling the players from phone, web page or directly at the player is awesome. Updates have been flawless. My experience has been 100% positive. And it is free!

Volumio is a great music player with broad support for audio formats, and I’ve been using it for many years now. My setups are mostly Raspberry Pi–based with various DAC boards, and I even repurposed an old Sony ES tuner into a dedicated Volumio player, complete with balanced outputs feeding my amplifier. That flexibility is one of Volumio’s biggest strengths. Recently, I upgraded to the Premium tier to try out the multi-device grouping functionality. While it’s a nice feature and works reasonably well, I don’t feel it fully justifies the additional cost. In my case, I mainly used it to compare audio quality across different Raspberry Pi and DAC combinations. One feature I really miss is native playback support for SACD ISO images. This is how I prefer to archive my SACDs, but currently I have to extract them into individual tracks, effectively doubling the storage space required. When I reorganize folders in my music library, playlists that reference moved tracks need to be repaired. I currently rely on a custom script to detect broken entries and then manually correct the file paths. Playlist management is another weak point. Within Volumio, playlists can only be appended to — there’s no proper way to edit or reorganize them. As a result, I have to modify playlist files manually using a JSON editor. While that’s manageable, enabling Premium introduces playlist synchronization across devices, which tends to interfere with these manual edits and causes inconsistencies. Overall, Volumio is a powerful and flexible music player, especially for DIY and Raspberry Pi–based setups, but more advanced library and playlist management — along with SACD ISO support — would significantly improve the experience, particularly for long-time and power users.

It’s works well and have been using it for years as a free version on my rasp pi as well as installed (imbedded) on my IFI Zen streamer

I have Volumio installed on a Raspberry Pi4, feeding the USB input on an SMSL SU9 PRO dac. Music files on a NAS. It works perfectly, had no problems at all, sound quality is superb. This replaced a Sonos Connect which stopped working when I updated the App software from S1. Was a little apprehensive having not used RPi before, but would not go back.

I've been using Volumio for years, on various versions of the RPI, and I'm always pleased with its simplicity and functionality. It's all about the music!

I've got the free edition and am very happy with it - use it daily on my raspeberry pi to listen to Pinguin radio (from The Netherlands), a station ((stream) with only indie music and no ads. Volumio is very stable and the user interface is working fine for me - at Christmas I stream some Christmas songs I've ripped from a CD (remember those? :-) ) which are located on my NAS. Only missing thing is the possibility to stream from Spotify, perhaps a paid subscription works but the plugins that I can choose in the free edition are not working or not working well. That's really a pity. But because I normally only listen to Pinguin radio, it's not that big of a problem.

My son had buildt me a networkplayer for birthday a few years ago, based on a Raspberry Pi and Volumio. Since I had no experience, i was really surprised how easy the handling was. I use that frequently with so much pleasure, but it sounds exquisit.

I use it with Raspberry Pi4 and Tidal connect. So far have not seen issues. Works as it should.

Hi, I use Volume apps with iOS on a Mac + iPad + iPhone and I have to admit that I'm having a lot of trouble because it's not very intuitive and cumbersome. The steps are not very intuitive. I think an app should be created that works with the icon principle.

I pay for Volumio mainly because I wanted a replacement for Chromecast that works with Tidal. Tidal connect is really solid on Volumio.

Stil use Volumio free with a RasPi4 and SPdif input on my Preamp Nubert Control, NAD N23, B&W streaming from my 8Tb local storrage. Works rock solid with 44/48/96/192 sampling and 16-24 bit using my Lenovo tablet as Music Lib.

What a relief and satisfaction in pursuit of a hifi music solution! Headless Volumio on RPI is now making my friends and relatives jealous by listening to the music at the maximum level of quality through my right. As a source, nothing can match Volumio.
