Warner's are heartless!! Because of the new Omicron virus I have been advised to avoid crowds due to an auto immune illness. (PMR) .. I contacted Warner Hotels to see if they would postpone my twixtmas stay with them at Thorsby Hall & rebook for a later/safer date. A straight NO was the answer. You come or you lose the money!! I'm in a dilemma - it's a lot of money to lose!! The picture attached was the last time we were at Warners - Sept 2020. In the middle of a covid crisis & it was chaotic. This is the queue for breakfast!!

Food was not up to standard, strange choices, odd selections. With a roast the veges were red pepper, red onion and courgette! I asked for prunes in juice for breakfast starter, got five prunes and no juice. Carpets dirty cobwebs in corridors. The only positive was the staff who were good. This is for Holme Lacy House.

Comfortable room. Kind and efficient housekeeping staff. Problems.... I planned to swim every day but the changing rooms and showers were out of bounds. I was advised to arrive in my swimsuit, dry off at a chair, then return to my chalet!! I was not going to walk through the grounds in a wet costume with my coat on top! There were 4 staff members standing at checkin, they could have sanitized the changing rooms in between use! Only one disabled toilet available. The toilet in the chalet was too low and l had difficulty getting up. I could not use the inaccessible shower. On my last visit to Dinah Warren l had my own table in the dining room and my sister was Graham. This time l have sat at a different place for each meal, have not got to know any of my fellow travellers, have been restricted to the meals which are waiter served because, in the dark of the dining room, l could not find my way back to the table! On the first evening l had the carvery but my meal was cold by the time l had returned to my seat. I returned to Dinah Warren because l loved it so much and have been very disappointed this time. Vivid cannot be blamed for the poor conditions.

We have stayed at most Warner hotels and they and the staff are very nice but when it comes to paying and getting your club cards (silver/gold/platinum becomes a nightmare

Room was way to small, the bed took up all the space, dripping taps in bathroom, dining experience was rubbish for 3 days then great for 2 days, this was Gunton Hall, hopefully holme lacy will be better in February, the meal booking times do not work in any sense, just hope they get back to normal soon

We have stayed at various Warner Hotels over 24 years. We have often had 2 (or 3) holidays a year. Have recommended to family & friends... but our recent visit to Thoresby (13-17th Sept) has disappointed us immensely. Everyone is aware of the staff shortages caused by Covid restrictions; we tried to be understanding but are afraid Waiters let you down. On our first two nights we were not asked if we'd like to order drinks and once we'd ordered our food the waiter never asked - and catching their eye was impossible. (We then ordered drinks before the food and that solved that problem!) The food was ok, sometimes delicious, but frequently cold due to slow service. One evening we were patiently waiting for dessert when a waiter delivered us a starter!! On leaving the dining room we usually go to the Pavilion bar/theatre to have drinks before the entertainment. The bar didn't open until 8pm, with just one server for first hour. Any 'decent' entertainment didn't start until 10pm. That's a long wait when you've dined at 6.30 and ready for fun at 7.15pm!! We already have a booking for next June at Corton but will possibly have a break from Warners until life gets back to better reality. Also SO SAD to see the comfy sofas and armchairs taken from Great Hall- it just looks like a cafe now.

4 day break at Holm Lacey was really enjoyable - made more so by the entertainment staff. The evening entertainment was excellent on all three nights of our stay. (4 ladies of pension age - however very young at heart) We joined in quizzes, line dancing, tai che, etc etc. Couldn’t have been bettered. The rooms were spotlessly clean, & well decorated. One small addition to the bathroom would be another handrail at the end of the bath making exit less insecure & worrisome. Our only complaint is the food & drinks issue in the restaurants. Warner’s management seem not to have adjusted to the new normal that is Covid restrictions. The buffet style eating has been replaced by what can only be described as a poor replacement. The restaurant management have not directed their staff to deal with even where their table numbers are - resulting in lukewarm or cold food placed before you. Not what we as your paying customers expect from a Warner’s Leisure hotel. Here’s hoping this will improve massively for our next planned visit or I regret to say, Warner’s will lose their loyal often returning clients.

Just been to studley castle where we have stayed twice before , disappointed with the meals as not such a great choice as before, room was lovely on 3rd floor with balcony but balcony had not been cleaned and was full of cobwebs and spiders, we also had to wait for our desserts in the evenings waiter had not put in order , I did like the buffet style breakfast but table service for evening meals , we had a genesis tribute band on Saturday night which were fantastic and I'm sorry to say last night the warners team were entertaining us well they were trying as non of them could sing and they sounded awgul alot of guests including us left the room

Booked our first Warner break at Nidd Hall for friends & ourselves. Booking process easy and subsequent 5 night stay at Nidd Hall was excellent. A terrific place. However prior to our break Warners requested that we pre book our meals which I thought was a good idea as this would enable us to set meal times that fitted in with our trips out etc. Problems then arose as their system only allows you to pre book one set of meals and not that for our friends; which meant that I had to repeat the same details thereafter; which might not seem a problem, until you find that Nidd Hall have two separate eating areas. Then add 5 breakfast times & locations, then 5 evening meal times & locations. It was like a completing a Chinese algorithm! {No such issue when I booked the original stay!} After pre booking Warners sent me a confirmation e-mail confirming all meal times/locations stating that if it became necessary to change a meal time, this could only be done via a drop down link on their e-mail; which they said would be dealt with within 72 hours. All ok until due to a daytime outing it became necessary to change one evening meal time. Not a problem I thought, silly me! Used the drop down link to request change, sent the e-mail and received automated reply saying that request would be dealt with and that I would be contacted within the next 72 hours. However no response; so sent second e-mail, still no response, so sent third e-mail and yep, you guessed - NO RESPONSE. Then tried telephoning Warners & Nidd Hall but all calls met with automated recordings stating that too busy, try again. This went on for days until eventually & miraculously a human answered at Warners. They informed me that as our trip was now imminent they were unable to make any changes; but that they would get Nidd Hall to call me to deal with the issue. Yep, Guess what......NO CALL. As I've stated previously, easy booking process but contact thereafter TERRIBLE.

We decided to celebrate our 53rd wedding anniversary by treating ourselves to, what we hoped, would be a luxury break but, unfortunately, we were rather disappointed. Nidd Hall is a beautiful old building in a lovely location but our guest experience did not live up to the standard we expected for the cost incurred. The staff were very friendly and helpful. What was lacking was the attention to detail. The room was fine but there were aspects of service which were lacking. We did enjoy our afternoon tea even though we found that the plain scone was inedible as it appeared to be frozen. This was rectified quickly and courteously. The rest of the food we had was of a reasonable standard but lacked flavour. We used the library but were disappointed that there were no coffee table books to look at, just a magazine. I regret to say that we will not be recommending this hotel.

We had a 4 day Gold Break at Gunton Hall Suffolk, re-booked from April 2020 owing to the Pandemic. The staff are always chatty and helpful. On a previous visit in June 2021 to Gunton Hall we made a complaint about slow waiter/waitress service in the Theatre (we waited 30 minutes to be served drinks). This has now been addressed and the staffing levels have improved. We still have a gripe concerning the price of alcoholic drinks and lunch time food. We tend to lunch off site now and limit ourselves to no more than two drinks each in the evening. The quality of the food was adequate but not as good as in pre-pandemic times. Would like to see the return of the evening carvery and self service salad bar. There are still no salad options on the evening menu. If you require a coffee after dinner it still has to be purchased as a separate item. Our week was a Gold 4 night break, with ballroom, and sequence dancing offered. The resident band played only 4 ballroom dances before they moved onto general disco dancing. The lack of ballroom and Latin dancing was disappointing and not as advertised. To warrant the increase cost of the holiday package, drinks and lunch time food we feel Warners need to up their game to pre-pandemic levels and give us back the experience we used to look forward to every time we booked.

Just stayed at Holme Lacy Hotel. On the whole a nice hotel with pleasant and helpful staff. Disappointed that one of the electric car charging points didn’t work so only one available for whole hotel. Biggest problem was the lack of meal choice for vegetarians. Only one choice of main course so if you didn’t like anything you were up the creak without a paddle. The first night was given an omelette as could not eat the mushroom dish on offer. The last evening it was a curry and I was informed that the kitchen was busy so wouldn’t be able to offer an alternative. I ended up with the soup starter as a main course. No air conditioning in any of the bedrooms. No sleep during our 4 night stay. Provision of small fan that just circulated the hot air around. Air conditioning in restaurant didn’t work until our last night.

We are holidaying at the Lakeside Coastal Resort, Hayling Island. Chalet is adequate but shower was a ridiculous size, far too small and with handrail in there I kept bumping myself. Menu very limited had trouble some nights finding something to eat. Also drinks were very expensive. Entertainment was not bad but not a fan of West End musicals, found there was a bit to much of that. Resident band Central Park were very good but Rebecca needs to stop doing her squeaks, she is not Michael Jackson and it spoilt an otherwise enjoyable evening. Staff very helpful and polite. Will not be taking any more Warner’s breaks, it was just not for us.

Very disappointed with our three day weekend at Thoresby Hall Sept 2020. Our agreed breakfast time of 9am every day changed to 9.45am when we arrived. Friday evening dinner quite late arriving. Saturday breakfast dining queue up the stairs to the Great Hall with my husband(on a scooter) waiting for me over 20 mins on the lower floor. My porridge was served at 10.35am 16 hours after my last food! Sunday breakfast two courses being served together again and so late our family group of 4 missed the morning quiz for the second time, not terrible but part of our entertainment package. Sunday we went to the blue room (only place with 4 seats together) for our mid morning refreshments significantly later owing to our late breakfast. Why did it take nearly one hour for two hot drinks and two lemonades? My husband with chronic kidney disease was so thirsty he was ill later and had to spend the evening in bed. I couldn’t buy water as the bar was too busy. So a difficult, stressful weekend. In fairness we have to accept that the Coronavirus restrictions are difficult for the hospitality industry but Warners need to ensure that there are sufficient staff and equipment I.e. hot drink machines to serve guests in the busiest areas.

We have just received the 2020 mail shot and found that the signature experience for 2020 has been enhanced by removing the wine and adding snacks and treats. If you are as annoyed about this as we are, do as we have and ring them to complain.

Looking sad, needs new carpets, stuck down with a lot of black tap. Swimming pool has no heat, we were told hasn’t worked for the last six weeks, had my nails done on the Wednesday, started to chip the next day, if it was our first visit to warners it would be our last, come on you can do better.

Have stayed in a few Warner hotels with great stay. Just stayed at Cricket St Thomas. Had terrible time. Very long walk to room. Room was cold and not aired. Selection of main meals in the evening was very poor, basically cooked dinner each evening. Just meat and veg each night. Towel rail not heating. Towels were vey rough like wiping in sand paper. So call dressing gowns only up to size 12 and rough. Entertainment great on the Saturday night other nights rubbish.

I haven’t been yet but booking for a group was a nightmare. I called the help line a couple of times and got different answers. Also only the lead guest can make amendments and then it isn’t straightforward. Warners need to streamline their online booking and train their customer are advisers better. I had paid an extra £10 to have a room allocated but when I tried to change I was told that the cost is £15. I’ve been to Warners before but this will probably be the last time if they don’t get their act together. I think they are slipping in customer care and I would only give a two star, my friend also was very frustrated and such a waste of our time!!!! Kate Neale

The advert is very misleading - yes no children but….. average age group is 70+ - food, entertainment geared up for OAP’s. Half the activities were not available, the so called disco never moved out of 1950’s era
