Just got home from our 3 night stay at Littlecote House. Our first time there but we are regulars at Holme Lacey & many others. We paid for a signature room as usual and the whole standard was very upsetting to us. Our room was very dirty, cobwebs hanging from lights in bathroom, very dirty skirting boards & cobwebs everywhere. No cleaning on first full day so same towels etc for 2 days. The complimentary snacks & drinks now only consist of 2 packets of crisps & 2 tins of waters. No cushions for the very worn " comfy" chairs. No bed cover as depicted on room details. Ant box in room and patio filthy, never been swept for weeks. The restaurant was service only and the choice of food has gone down to one page menu. The daily roast was exactly same everyday except you had 2 slices of processed meat of the day. The carved meat joint is no longer offered. Felt more like a canteen than a restaurant. Breakfast was buffet but so badly organised long queues every morning and food was not hot, at best luke warm. The plates were also cold. When problems were addressed with the staff the reply was the same every time, "cuts were made due to Covid" That was 5 years ago now! The staff, with few exceptions, seemed very disinterested and disheartened. There was no effort to let you know of any local attractions etc and the onsight shopping experience again had not been restocked " because of Covid" The saving grace for us was the excellent entertainment on Sat & Sunday. After many years of being a loyal Warner customer, at least 3 - 4 times per year, I feel that the standards are now so low that we will not be returning. I can understand cost cutting but the customer needs to be informed & not when they arrive for their long anticipated break. The charge of £8.50 for activities such as archery etc was bad enough but a Warner's holiday is no longer a nice experience. With all the cost cutting you are losing your loyal base.

Every year we post a review, which has never been less than 4 stars. Sadly, standards have slipped badly, which is very noticeable. It's even getting difficult to book by phone.

I have discovered that if you have a problem with Warner's that they can't/won't resolve. Contact their CEO, Paul Pomroy, at Head Office.

Booked a patio which is a communal area, but it wasn’t cleaned for days. Despite being promised it would it wasn’t so why did we pay £80 extra ! Then new cost saving one cleans one’s own room day after arrival. Staff taught to say that is to reduce disturbing us! Rubbish it’s to save money , then even in restaurant , no matter your mobility fetch tap water glass by glass as jugs no longer served. Shameful

Just got back from Littlecote, standards have dropped, two thirds of tables in theatre were reserved, the break was expensive without having to pay extra to get a seat with a reasonable view! Everything was geared around money, charged for extra activities, don’t clean rooms on first day, cut back on complimentary snacks. Been going for 20 years, most disappointed with standards

The swimming pool was dirty, there were stones all down the side of the steps. The changing area and toilets for the pool were well below par. I expected a little bit of luxury but it was so basic and rundown people were walking straight out of there. This is called a spa hotel but only one therapist on duty the first day and two the second so could not get booked in for any treatments, this was a party of six who all wanted treatment done. Had tried booking in on line but although it said there were slots available it would not let me book, just going around on a loop. After staying at Heythorpe this was a big disappointment and more expensive. I didn’t think this was value for money . In the Blue room they were advertising 3 cocktails but when ordered they came back and said they didn’t have the ingredients . The average wait for drinks was about 30 mins if not longer. Had to send coffee back because it was cold when it arrived. I don’t blame the bar staff as they were run off their feet and seem to be covering both bars, there wasn’t enough bar staff to cater for service only, we did go to the bar a couple of times but was told to go to the table and a server would come. I don’t normally complain but this is the worse experience I have had and would not return.

Very upset with the food at Littlecote House . Menu very limited. Roast everyday expect that on a Sunday I believe the buffet service salad Bar Omelette Bar and then a choice of Indian or Chinese selection is really missing. Stayed for 3 nights very disappointed also did VIP in the entertainment hall again very disappointed again drinks list very limited so had to pay the difference for the correct wine and scotch whisky and also had to pay to double up For what you pay the standards have gone down since we stayed last time 9 years ago for our 25th wedding anniversary and this year for our 34th wedding not sure if we will be back

Looking sad, needs new carpets, stuck down with a lot of black tap. Swimming pool has no heat, we were told hasn’t worked for the last six weeks, had my nails done on the Wednesday, started to chip the next day, if it was our first visit to warners it would be our last, come on you can do better.

Have stayed in a few Warner hotels with great stay. Just stayed at Cricket St Thomas. Had terrible time. Very long walk to room. Room was cold and not aired. Selection of main meals in the evening was very poor, basically cooked dinner each evening. Just meat and veg each night. Towel rail not heating. Towels were vey rough like wiping in sand paper. So call dressing gowns only up to size 12 and rough. Entertainment great on the Saturday night other nights rubbish.

I haven’t been yet but booking for a group was a nightmare. I called the help line a couple of times and got different answers. Also only the lead guest can make amendments and then it isn’t straightforward. Warners need to streamline their online booking and train their customer are advisers better. I had paid an extra £10 to have a room allocated but when I tried to change I was told that the cost is £15. I’ve been to Warners before but this will probably be the last time if they don’t get their act together. I think they are slipping in customer care and I would only give a two star, my friend also was very frustrated and such a waste of our time!!!! Kate Neale

The advert is very misleading - yes no children but….. average age group is 70+ - food, entertainment geared up for OAP’s. Half the activities were not available, the so called disco never moved out of 1950’s era

Just got back from Thoresby Hall. Everything was OK apart from our room! Paid extra for a patio and we was put in a room that turned out to be directly underneath the reception!! All DAY and NIGHT you could hear people walking around. My husband complained 4 times in 24hrs but we were told there was no other room. By our last night we couldn't take any more, I had fallen asleep in a chair that afternoon in the great hall lounge because I was so tired. We went to reception at 12.30am to say all we can hear is the night staff walking around. Two of the receptionist said that our room shouldn't be let out at all and instantly moved us to another bedroom for ONE peaceful night sleep!! After being promised to speak to a manager the next morning we could only speak to a team leader!! We were given a voucher for money off another holiday and told refurbishments start next year and things might change! She said a spare bedroom had become available because guests had left on Wednesday so I don't know why nobody came to offer us the room then, knowing we had asked to be moved, that would've been better customer service!! It certainly wasn't a relaxing holiday and we were glad to come home for a decent night sleep. Don't accept a bedroom if the number is 103!!

Gunton Hall this weekend well we always had a great time not anymore. Ques to start with 1. before parking 2, Register 3. Mealtimes Which table for that sitting. 4. Fetch your starter. 5. Fetch your main course. Poor choice of main meals if any left no plates small portion of meat one choice only. Up to last meal the same. Breakfast last morning no eggs no plates no beans no scramble eggs long wait back to table no toast or tea until later cup of tea only one. Chalet needs looking at sink plug does not plug. Bulb kept flashing, hairdryer holder falling off. Window would shut. No shop so forgot things do without. So if disabled or injured tough luck no table service available. OOPS one good thing entertainment very good. this break cost me £500 + If as poor on next visit (Jan) it will be the last one. I could go on but no,

Continued Loud music in two very small lounges and supposed to cater for 200 rooms. One lounge we had to return to get a coffee (pay ourself extra) as staff said the lounge was far too small to cater for everyone. I am surprised that health and safety allowed this lack of space due to Covid restrictions. During dinner exactly the same loud music and was not allowed to have it lessened. Absolutely no where to relax and read or play perhaps card games or in fact any board game. So we returned always to our room. Not a book in view and I was hoping for a library feeling older people enjoy these types of holidays Many rooms need refurbishment and my mattress was uncomfortable and old. Around the shower black mould marks (looked liked) We had a radiator which could not be turned off as the caretaker explained it was broken. We wet our pillows sweating and embarrassed we had to explain to housekeeping As for car parking it’s totally unacceptable. Accessible parking was called Disabled not a term favoured by people with all Kind of health issues moreover all parking was difficult to find. Having to walk quite a way. Generally speaking it seemed as if we had spent the entire week with loud music all day unless we went out or tucked ourselves away in our room. Really not a rest at all Two and truthful positive comment. All staff did their best and were kind and polite. Many realised that the lounges were inadequate and needed a vast change. The food generally was a good selection, well enough presented and good quality. Some Warner hotels do offer some relaxation and nice large lounge areas but be very careful. Warner as far as we were concerned just wanted our money and keen to sell this expensive trip. Hoping to return to another more suitable hotel I need Warner to be truthful as to what class of hotel this is. What type of people enjoy this also.

After many wonderful breaks at Warner's our last one to Alveston Hall was extremely disappointing. Facilities were OK as usual but the service very poor. We had a Royal Suite together with a VIP Experience. The suite was very nice but poorly serviced - we had to ask for clean towels/tea facilities and our bed to be made up. The VIP Experience was none existent to the point where they agreed and gave us our money back. The poor service I believe was down to lack of manpower. We were informed that staff was down by two thirds. Apparently its under some form of new management - which appear to be failing. Everyone has suffered over the past two years but if Warner's are unable to supply the standard to which I and many others have become accustomed, then costs/business plan/staffing/etc need to be seriously reviewed! We have complained by letter to HQ and email and not had a response! Still waiting.

Presently at Lakeside. Our woodland lodge is lovely but cannot say the same for the rest of the facilities The pool and gym is closed Monday and Friday and only open 9am to 4pm midweek so no opportunity for pre dinner swim. Not as advertised on web site. The restaurant service is poor and lots ot items are not available due to no food being ordered as menu is to change next week. Staff shortages adding to the problems. Worst Warner holiday ever. Daily activities are all sport based, cinema closed, very few other things to do. So disappointed.

I take a Warner's holiday at least twice a year but I would think twice after my recent experiences. I stayed at Studley Hall and had a very pleasant weekend there. On my return I tried to pay the balance for an upcoming holiday with friends. Getting through on the phone is a challenge in its self. I eventually had to make do with an on line live chat where I was given the wrong information. I was told that each of my friends had to phone to use the money they had in a hols account. They were told this wasn't the case. After another on line live chat I was told I had to make the call. Half a dozen futile phone calls and I decided to email. This I did followed by a reminder a week later. Still no reply or acknowledgement. Their admin is appalling. Is it too much to expect a reply from them. I'm sure they will be in touch when the balance is due, but this just isn't good enough. I am frustrated beyond belief. I do wonder if they read any of these reviews because they on't appear to reply to any.
