“Have stayed at Warner 7 times. Not sure if we will go again. Standards have dropped considerably. Food service has become very poor. Staff are overworked and certainly can’t cope with obvious shortages. Coffee and tea service is nonexistent you have to be prepared to go to a machine and make your own. It is very chaotic at breakfast time. Dirty pots and glasses piled high in the bar areas where staff are obviously kept to a minimum. I have been in hospitality all my life. I came home feeling sorry for the poor staff. By listening to people around us there was a lot of discontent about this matter.”

“I was hoping to book room 205 at Holme Lacy for our 50th Anniversary but could not contact anyone for two days to make sure this would happen. £600 for 4 nights seemed a good price but after discovering you had to book first then request a room the price was raised the following morning to £750. Anyway bite the bullet paid the price and then attempted again to try and book Room 205, no chance this was booked months in advance but we could book something else. Mentioned the problems I was having, (the price which I am glad to say she refunded £50), discussed other historic rooms but ones that were left seemed to have problems so opted for room 317, £20 cost. So after sorting the room I was informed I had new figure of £656.01, therefore a credit balance of £50 off the original room price plus £43.99 for the change to a lower rated room. Upon checking out one night early, not eating or sleeping the final night although we did inform him that we would still be in the hotel and that there was still £32.19 credit which I requested refunding to my credit card. "We cannot do that, the amount has to be used towards another booking or purchase". Upon telling him that it was my money not the £50 reduction, he stated I would have to contact Head office, Oh! a joke to part with. We then got packed up and decided to have a bit of lunch and then start home. After ordering some food we handed over our room card and was then told the card had been cancelled and if we wanted to still order the food we would have to pay by credit card. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE LEFT AND WILL NEVER VISIT A WARNERS AGAIN.”

“Where do I begin? Perhaps with the fact that what was most alarming about WH was they were prepared to bully my mother (recovering from facial surgery and diagnosed with severe heart failure at the age of 86) into still attending her holiday which we (mysefl and my sister) had booked for them. With 2 weeks advance notice and based on recent surgery we wished to cancel. We spent two days trying to navigate this only to end up with Bennie's team trying to enforce my mother to speak with them. I spoke to Bethany, Nicole, Linnile, Travis and Bennie and was passed from pillar to post. Note - even their own staff (with the exception of team Lead Bennie) were empathic and I could tell horrified by the appaling treatment and inability to reconcile their bullying policies. Its evident this is a company trying to exploit the elderly out of every penny they have. It took them less than three seconds to take our money but they make it a Sysphean task to anyone trying to cancel (even several weeks apart), I have never been so angry or let down by any company in my 57 years on this planet. They dont deserve one star.”

“My Grandson died 3 days before our weekend visit to Corton,I cancelled with Warner's the next day and hoped for some compassion in these circumstances.I had hoped for a refund or at least choose another weekend in the future,No just quoted terms and conditions.My 17 yr old Grandson died people have been so kind Warner's have been very disappointing.We have been to Corton and Gunton Hall many times over the years and feel we have treated badly on this occasion.”

“First time at Alvaston Hall although we have stayed at other Warner hotels in the past. Unbelievably disappointed to find out that there is now a charge for some of the activities £10 per session. Absolutely no mention of this On the website when booking. Earners have always made a point of advertising their breaks as activity ones with all activities included in the price. On top of this spa, sauna etc not working during our stay - again no mention of this when booking. Can't see us using Warner again or recommending to friends as we have done in the past.”

“I have been trying to contact Warner for the last 3 days without success. I have a booking at Heythrop hall and have tried both the hotel and central booking and have been kept waiting on the phone for 20 minutes with a message saying ‘ sorry to keep you waiting, and appreciate your patience, stay with us and one of our team will be with you in a moment’ A similar message was on the central booking service - however I was warned that the wait would be 15, after 30 minutes I gave up! This is a shambolic standard of service . I am now worried that this represents the company as a whole”

“We have just checked in to Thorseby Hall. We have the Tuddlesbury Suite. We have a scrap of loo roll, no drawers, and no chair to sit in front of a tiny mirror to do my hair. Really?? Am I asking too much?? Who designed these rooms? Thorseby has just had a refurbishment. These should be basic requirements.... I'm always disappointed. We have been coming several times a year to Warner's for over 10 years. We are now considering going elsewhere. Such a shame.”

“We returned from Thoresby Hall 27/12/25 having our Christmas break, overall not to bad the refurbishment of the hotel is very good. a few of comments! should ensure that there is a rubber mat for the shower as very slippery, no hand rails when entering shower. Having to use a mobility scooter at the moment, on part of the corridors going to the restaurant there is a very sharp turn with steps and a slope the turning is very sharp it would help if they removed part of the balustrade!! Our biggest disappointment was the lack of service in the Market restaurant the food was reasonable if like overcooked and not very hot. Did enjoy the salad. The standards have dropped, the only blessing was my friend had booked us into the Blue room for Christmas lunch which was excellent. After many years going to Warners l will be giving it a lot of thought before going again. booking ref; 13637057”

“Terrible experience, booked a birthday surprise break (£500) Wife became ill a week prior, even hospitalized and with a valid certificate of illness, they refuses to either cancel or change to a the date. Said we hadn't taken out their insurance (£36.50 per person) Terrible company to deal with, we will never book Warner again and will certainly tell all the people we know, not to trust this company!”

“On arrival the hallways and landings on our floor were like a building site with tools,glue, carpet and underlay. We had taken our 90 year old parents and it was positively dangerous. Workers started right outside our rooms before 8.30am. On telling reception they were dismissive and completely unhelpful, I believe because so many people had complained. The oil filled electric radiator in both rooms bathrooms were completely inadequate, leaving the bathroom to cold to take a bath in. We felt processed and rushed through our breakfasts with them turning the toaster and drinks machine off 20 minutes after our booked arrival time, the whole stay was a complete let down, we paid nearly 1200 pounds for 4 people for 2 nights, not cheap. When I sent photos and email about our issues their best and only offer was 100 pounds discount off another 1200 pound stay. I believe that Warner's has been bought out and the new owners are cutting corners everywhere, that was certainly what we experienced”

“Just got home from our 3 night stay at Littlecote House. Our first time there but we are regulars at Holme Lacey & many others. We paid for a signature room as usual and the whole standard was very upsetting to us. Our room was very dirty, cobwebs hanging from lights in bathroom, very dirty skirting boards & cobwebs everywhere. No cleaning on first full day so same towels etc for 2 days. The complimentary snacks & drinks now only consist of 2 packets of crisps & 2 tins of waters. No cushions for the very worn " comfy" chairs. No bed cover as depicted on room details. Ant box in room and patio filthy, never been swept for weeks. The restaurant was service only and the choice of food has gone down to one page menu. The daily roast was exactly same everyday except you had 2 slices of processed meat of the day. The carved meat joint is no longer offered. Felt more like a canteen than a restaurant. Breakfast was buffet but so badly organised long queues every morning and food was not hot, at best luke warm. The plates were also cold. When problems were addressed with the staff the reply was the same every time, "cuts were made due to Covid" That was 5 years ago now! The staff, with few exceptions, seemed very disinterested and disheartened. There was no effort to let you know of any local attractions etc and the onsight shopping experience again had not been restocked " because of Covid" The saving grace for us was the excellent entertainment on Sat & Sunday. After many years of being a loyal Warner customer, at least 3 - 4 times per year, I feel that the standards are now so low that we will not be returning. I can understand cost cutting but the customer needs to be informed & not when they arrive for their long anticipated break. The charge of £8.50 for activities such as archery etc was bad enough but a Warner's holiday is no longer a nice experience. With all the cost cutting you are losing your loyal base.”

“We have just come back from lakeside a site that we have been to many times. Must say we were a little disapointed to find that the standards have dropped a little. Don't get me wrong we still had a good holiday. We were a group of 6, and one of our groups chalet was not very clean cobwebs and insects dead on windowledge, when reported it did get cleaned again. Also there did not seem to be enough staff in the dining room those that were had to work extremely hard but were allways pleasant We found the salad bar lacking in choice (we had to compare it to Norton Grange where we stayed in August and the salad bar there was excellent.) On the up side the entertainment in the evenings afternoon was as usual very good thegrounds were a bit neglected up near one of rge paths we walked to get to the dining hall had apples all over it when we arrived on Friday and were still there when we left on monday. There were a lot of disabled people and it was not too safe. Iwillfinsh off by saying that we have now booked to go to gunton Hall next year and hopefully come back to lakeside in the future.”

“Went to Gunton Hall last week. The chalet we were allocated was terrible, bathroom full of rust and mould. Bedroom had very old furniture with lumps of it and filthy carpet. We took photos and showed reception, saw Duty Manager who said we could leave and money would be put in a Warner's holding account. This was not appropriate as we had travelled four hours and the fuel costs. We were given another chalet apparently the only empty one available, the furthest one away from everything, the bedroom was better but the bathroom was still full of rust and mould. This was so disappointing we go to Warner's six or seven times a year including Christmas, what a way to treat good customer's. Would never ever go to Gunton Hall again.”

“Every year we post a review, which has never been less than 4 stars. Sadly, standards have slipped badly, which is very noticeable. It's even getting difficult to book by phone.”

“Terrible chalet, had to change the same night, room was full of mould, rust and very damaged old furniture. The new room is better although bathroom is full of mould and rust. We visit Warner's six or seven times a year including Christmas and that's the way they treat guests. Would never return to Gunton Hall again. Pictures have been sent to reception. We asked for a chalet near to facilities and we were put the farthest away and the new room is even further. All we got from management was a free drink each.”

“Littlecote was wonderful, we had a bad experience with Cricket St Thomas but Littlecote certainly made up for it. The whole team were great. especially Matt Breet who looked after us in the restaurant. and Jacob Daszkiewicz who served us with a smile every day in the coffee shop and theatre. The Rooms were all that we expected with Patios next door to each other which made it easy for my husband and I and my Mum to socialise. The food and restaurant was good and felt very clean in the restaurant. The entertainment day and night was excellent and Steve Holley made us smile with his humour and Gemma Forde made us feel so much at home. All in all a great holiday.”

“Having recently returned from a 5day holiday at Warners Bembridge overall we were happy with our experience. The location is good which as we were fortunate to have good weather helped. We travelled by coach so didnt use the daytime facilities as was taken out. We have stayed at several Warner sites over the years and overall feel this rates pretty high. However , as much as we enjoyed the entertainment in the evenings we didnt rate the singers from New Horizon, disappointing to say the least. This was the first time at Bembridge.”

“Booked a patio which is a communal area, but it wasn’t cleaned for days. Despite being promised it would it wasn’t so why did we pay £80 extra ! Then new cost saving one cleans one’s own room day after arrival. Staff taught to say that is to reduce disturbing us! Rubbish it’s to save money , then even in restaurant , no matter your mobility fetch tap water glass by glass as jugs no longer served. Shameful”

“We have stayed at the Runnymede Hotel twice in recent weeks. Lovely location on the banks of the River Thames. I am Coeliac so the buffet-style restaurant was great for me. Plenty of choice and options clearly marked if they contained gluten. There was only GF Corn Flakes at breakfast. I would have liked a choice of GF Bran Flakes and Muesli. There were plenty of other options so I didn't go hungry.”
