My pre lit tree came with out color coding or labels. The instructions don’t even show the correct number of connectors. Takes me longer to put this thing together and get the lights to work than it did to shop for a real tree, put it in the stand and string my own lights! Everything I read talks about color coding, not mine. There is no video I can find that show the connections in detail.

I purchased a tree for $1,699 on November 5, 2025. Just three days later, on November 8, the price was reduced by $300. When I requested a price adjustment, I was only refunded $240 because I had used a coupon during my initial purchase. I do not believe this is fair, especially since at the time of my price adjustment request, the website was offering an additional $50 coupon, which would have resulted in a total of $350 off. Instead of honoring the full difference, the company chose the least customer-friendly option. I also considered returning the tree, but was informed of a $90 restocking fee, which I find unreasonable, especially given the current economy. A smaller restocking fee, such as $45, would have been far more fair and appropriate. Beyond the policies themselves, my experience with Balsam Hill’s customer service has been extremely disappointing. In my opinion, the representatives I dealt with were uncooperative, rude, and disinterested in helping. For the extremely high prices Balsam Hill charges, I expected a premium product and customer experience. Instead, I received an overpriced, underwhelming tree and customer service that did nothing to improve the situation. I am deeply disappointed with both the product and how my concerns were handled. This experience has caused me to lose confidence in the company, and I do not plan to make future purchases or recommend Balsam Hill to others. DO NOT buy their products. This company does not stand behind its customers.

Terrible customer service. Could care less that our tree lights went on and off after 2 years. We had to restring lights. We paid about 1200.00 for our tree and the lights only lasted 2 years. How pathetic of a product is that. I really cannot believe that they did nothing to make this right. We also bought battery operated lighted wreaths- the lighting on those are so dull - not even worth it. Go to Walmart, Home Depot or any other store- they stand by there product. I do not know how they stay in business. My friends have also had issues with their tress and its lighting.

We waited for years until we could afford our 6.5 ft. slim prelit Fraser Fir. What a disappointment! What we got was a ratty looking tree with sparse branches that no amount of fluffing can fix. Branch tips keep falling off. The lights are poorly strung leaving dark spots. The tree is wobbly in the stand. Our 10 year old tree from Lowes was much better looking and much cheaper. We were obviously fooled by the Balsam Hill hype. Don't make the same mistake...buy a different brand.

$600 for the ugliest tree I think I’ve ever seen. Then the criminals asked for $130 restocking fee to take it back. I wouldn’t buy a stick of gum from them.

Ordered a Frosted Fir tree and received a different tree. Called customer service to exchange the tree for what I ordered and was sent another incorrect tree. Had trouble with customer service getting return labels. Was about to exchange for what I ordered one more time and noticed tree I ordered now offered online for half what it was three week ago. Shouldn’t be this difficult to get the tree you order!!

Canadian customers beware. If you bought a tree from the US before the introduction of the Canadian sites and need service or warranty, good luck. Due to some internal rule, they can't ship parts from the US to Canada. Everything needs togothrough the Canadian site now. If you are lucky enough to have one of the 25 trees offered by Canada you may be fortunate. If it is one of the other 65+ only available from the US site, then your warranty is now useless.

I am extremely disappointed with my purchase of the Balsam Hill frosty white pre-lit tree. From the photos online, I expected a full, luxurious, and realistic tree, especially given the premium price point. What I received looks nothing like the pictures. The tree has far fewer branches than advertised, leaving noticeable gaps, and it appears sparse and uneven no matter how much time is spent fluffing it. For a brand that markets itself as the “gold standard” in artificial Christmas trees, this one falls well short of expectations. The overall look and quality simply do not justify the cost. I feel misled by the photographs and descriptions, which suggest a high-end, dense tree, but the reality is disappointing and cheap-looking.

We waited to buy a quality x-mas tree from Balsam Hill. Unfortunately, what we received was a Walmart "made in China" special. Then to add insult to injury, you have to pay for return shipping on their subpar product. Don't believe the hype, the trees DO NOT look real because you can see through them.

This company has terrible customer service. They are uncooperative, rude and disinterested in helping. The trees are extremely overpriced and lack quality. Tried to return and refused to help. Tried to contact the CEO with a letter with no response. DO NOT buy their product!

We won't buy another Balsam Hill tree. The tree was purchased in December 2021. It has been carefully stored inside the house, where temperatures and humidity are well controlled. The lights are already failing.

Worst service - Overpriced tree... Ordered start of Dec, was delivered half a tree mid Dec (box 2 of 2) and told I'd have to wait for another week for the second box to arrive with no definite time or tracking or day or guarantee - so we were likely to miss the Dec 25 deadline....I insisted on a return and refund as there was no clarity in their responses or answers. The tree we received was ok quality but to be honest didn't look like what I imagined my $1800 investment would look like...David Jones trees are just as good with better lights and a 3rd of the price at least. We organised to return the one box (2/2) of the tree and received the refund no problem. We were about to head away on an international holiday, and Jan 2nd and box 1 of 2 turns up on our door step - now up to us to print and organise a return for this - no way they can help without us printing and attaching a return - so annoying we get to return home to this stupid tree on our door step and we have to handle it - just a hot mess in terms of service, tracking info is stupid and dark ages, and the trees are just fine. Don't kid yourself - they sell the dream on site but don't deliver - save your $$$ Christmas lovers - go elsewhere!

Balsam Hill has terrible customer service. I called to trouble shoot my Christmas tree I did everything suggested to try and fix this expensive tree but nothing worked. They offered to send two sections of incandescent lights that had died. Well… they no longer make incandescent lighting just LED lights. It is not my fault that they decided to discontinue incandescent lighting. I believe, a true good customer service would have offered a discount to purchase a new tree. This is not the first time I have been disappointed with Balsam Hill but, it is definitely my very last.

Purchased my tree this past December Wanted one for a long time thought they were always beautiful. The tree u see on TV is NOT what u get!!!! Tried resolving a needle broken issue right out of the box with customer service. With No avail told them my issue they said tht normal which is false and pretty much told me to have a nice day. Dnt see how they have a gwd rating with BBB. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. If I could give them a BIG FAT "0" I would! But have to give a 1 for the review if y'all wnt to stop theses rip off companies. Report them to BBB Also ours was supposed to be the fullest tree. And has alot of space in between branches

We love our new tree but we’ve had to return 2 bad switches for the lights. For the price of the tree the company needs to invest in another quality switch. It’s ridiculous that just by luck we got a customer service rep the 2nd time that told us the reason for the flickering lights could possibly be the foot switch. Sure enough that was the issue. It’s a shame we had to go for days without our lights not knowing this.

Purchased expensive 6' flip tree thinking it would last us many years to come. WRONG! As soon as the warranty ran out, a string of lights died. I supplemented with additional strings and every year a new line dies. Our tree has been up less than 2 weeks and TWO additional lines have died. Totally ridiculous! We are NOT talking about a burned out bulb but a complete string of lights! Considering our tree is rarely up more than 3 weeks at the most, this purchase was definitely not worth the cost and FRUSTRATION. This tree is "going out the door"...not dealing with this frustration another year!

I bought the narrow blue spruce tree in November 2019. It’s been a beautiful tree for my small home, however this year the top section didn’t light I called customer service and because it’s out of the three year warranty and they discontinued this tree I can’t get another section . They sent me fuses but that didn’t give me positive results. It’s advertised that balsam hill trees usually are good for 8-10 years. Very disappointing that there is no remedy for me I will not buy another tree from balsam hill

We bought a balsam Hill 9' Silverado Slim filp tree 3 years ago. First year was relatively trouble free but did have a section go out. We replaced a "grey" light which apparently governs that section and it worked again. The next year several sections began to go out and in some cases the replacements didnt fix the problem. Now in year 3 of having our tree, here is what our PRE LIT tree looks like and we cant fix it. I highly suggest you avoiding this flip tree from Balasm Hill

I bought a tabletop lighted christmas tree (last year after Christmas). This year is the first time I used it. Within two weeks the timer is off and the tree turns on and off at odd times, the only way I can turn off the tree is by removing the batteries. I called Balsam Hill and the response I received is "sorry the tree is not under warranty" REALLY? The reason I bought from Balsam Hill and paid a bit more was because I thought their quality of product would be better, I guess not....very disappointed, I expected the tree to last and work for more than one year.
