“Zeer slechte ervaring als verkoper. Catawiki zit vol met wanbetalers die veilingen winnen en vervolgens niet betalen. De klantenservice aan de telefoon is beschamend, en de experts bevoordelen professionele verkopers. Erg lange publicatietijden zonder enige rechtvaardiging. Ik heb meerdere keren dezelfde artikelen gepresenteerd die ik zie worden verkocht. Mijn inzendingen worden afgewezen, in plaats daarvan worden dezelfde producten gepubliceerd. Flagrant vriendjespolitiek van de experts? Problemen met de experts op Catawiki Als verkoper op Catawiki heb ik enkele problemen ondervonden met de experts. Hier zijn mijn belangrijkste punten van kritiek: Te lage waarderingen: De experts schatten de waarde van kavels vaak te laag in, wat potentiële kopers kan ontmoedigen en de uiteindelijke verkoopprijs verlaagt. Afwijzing van kavels: Sommige kavels worden geweigerd op basis van subjectieve of onduidelijke redenen, zoals "gebrekkige kwaliteit" of "niet passend bij de categorie". Dit kan frustrerend zijn. Gebrekkige communicatie: De experts geven zelden duidelijke uitleg over hun beslissingen, waardoor het onduidelijk blijft waarom een kavel wordt afgewezen of laag wordt gewaardeerd. Inconsistentie: Vergelijkbare kavels worden verschillend behandeld door verschillende experts, wat wijst op een gebrek aan standaardisatie in de beoordelingscriteria. Onvoldoende kennis: Soms lijkt het erop dat de experts onvoldoende ervaring of kennis hebben om specifieke objecten juist te beoordelen, vooral in nichemarkten. Langdurige goedkeuring: Het goedkeuren van kavels duurt vaak lang, wat het verkoopproces vertraagt. “2nd time in a row I bought a nice watch, but 2nd in a row it wasn´t working. Catawiki asks you to send a photograph of the shipping label, a video and 5 photographs of the object. However, that will never help if the watch doesnt´ work as the problem is inside the watch. But what´s more they don´t even get a look at what you send, ignoring to have received a mail. So they don´t give a f..... about complaints”

“This company is scam. Their so called "experts" have no idea what are they selling and they are also extort the sellers to sell on the non real prices. They also bad for buyers. I once bought a set of "Art Deco" spoons, chosen by their Antique expert, only to find that when it arrived it has 1980s USSR log on each spoon.”

“I got a fake item. Catawiki expert called me fraud, because there is no evidence I got the fake item from the auction, not just show one from anywhere. I found the expert on the linkedin, he is a sales assistant in a store. He is not qualified at all. I start a police case against catawiki. Be carefull with them, there is no any real guarantee you will get authentic item, and they support the scammers.”

“The experts are not experts. They dont have an idea of what the value of an object is. They use a minimum value for an object to be auctioned, but they usually don't sell the object for that price.”

“I have been scammed by Catawiki, I sold a box with 50 packets of vintage football cards in perfect condition and unopened, the buyer received the box, opened several packets and told Catawiki that the packets had been opened, Catawiki says that the buyer's claim is valid, ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE, of course I'm going to go to the police to file a complaint.”

“Very, very bad for sellers. Super low realized prices. Lots of mistakes on age/origin assessment by the "experts" who review the lots. One "expert" will declare an object as Japanese origin while a later "expert" will state it is Chinese. Meanwhile many makes/months have passed. Same goes for genuine and new articles. Catawiki tries to force all items to start with no reserve, if you don't agree they won't allow your listing. Their prices realized results are very poor compared with other auction houses for comparable items. Sellers have to pay out of pocket for many costs which Catawiki makes no mention of such as taxes, fees, exchange rates and transfer fees. They also try to force you into very tight shipping costs parameters which often results in the seller losing money on shipping. Their is no compensation for your time in wrapping the item, filling in the paperwork, travel to the post office, and follow up correspondence with the buyer/Catawiki/ the postal authorities in case of inquiries on the package. Very often buyers will wait a long time before the buyer pays - it could be weeks or months. You can't be sure if the buyer will follow through which leaves you hanging on when/whether to prepare the package - a big issues when you have other work to tend to. Then, after many weeks, Catawiki will announce they have cancelled the sale leaving you out of pocket time, money, effort, and reputation which they in no way try to help alleviate. And finally the submission forms a seller has to fill out are complex and time consuming which add to your time investment which you can never get back if the sale is cancelled. Despite Catawiki stating they will relist you items again at the same starting price, they don't. They wait again a couple of which and then come back to you asking you to remove the requested reserve price before listing. And finally, sometimes buyers refuse packages and the package gets sent back to you at your cost creating further nightmares in communication with the buyer, the post office, and Catawiki. Having tried selling on Catawiki since 2017 overall it has been a net loss when all considered.”
