Purchased an Apple, Plum, Cherry and Green Gage tree - all arrive safely and well packed. Plants arrived very healthy and have since been planted outdoors and doing well so far. John also provided some prompt advice on one question I had as well.

Have had an apple tree and a plum tree in Autumn of last year and a cherry tree this summer. We have been more than happy with the service we have had from Chris Bowers. All trees were delivered promptly, were well packaged and the first two are established and doing well. The cherry has only just been delivered and planted. We received a follow up email with an offer of advice and assistance if necessary. Had received helpful advice prior to ordering the apple tree and plum tree, regarding choice of trees and suitability of size for the garden. More than happy to use Chris Bowers again.

I bought 2 x Martlet gooseberry bushes which I had chosen due to their resistance to mildew and late cropping. I received 2 very good sided bushes in July and have even had some fruit try. They can well packaged and in excellent health.

I received two beautiful trees, a red Falstaff apple tree, and a very pretty apricot tree. Had a very positive experience, well shipped, protected, and then received a follow-up email and some advice for the planting of my new trees. Wonderful service, thoughtful approach

I can’t believe the reviews I have read on this site. I ordered a pear tree last year and the tree arrived well packaged and protected and is doing well. Fruit? Well it is a bit early and I don’t expect miracles. I have had three trees delivered this year and again they were swiftly delivered (next day) and again were were packaged well and I couldn’t have expected any better service which is why I was gobsmacked at the reviews. I can only speak as I find and I have no complaints whatsoever.

I have been using Chris Bowers for a .few years now ,very happy with the trees and bushes i have purchased. The plants are well packaged with tough sacks and straw .Arrive quickly and in good condition. The range of varieties and root stock is what makes this nursery so good .I wouldn't go anywhere else . the rudest customer service i have ever encountered . reported a broken branch on a 2 branch stepover with a photo to show that it was not a new break. heard nothing so emailed to say i was disspointed not to have heard anything. got an email back " Please see our t&c's re: returns. Best Regards Shaunna." so checked their Ts and Cs and copied an pasted back what it said "f goods prove to be faulty or do not comply with the Sale of Goods Act 1979 we will offer a suitable remedy. We guarantee all stock to grow during the first growing season. f goods prove to be faulty or do not comply with the Sale of Goods Act 1979 we will offer a suitable remedy. We guarantee all stock to grow during the first growing season. Replacement will be made as soon as possible, or a refund if preferable, at our discretion, provided we are satisfied the stock has been treated well. Thereafter we guarantee all stock as true to name."" i was not contacted to ask which i would prefer instead got this unbelievable email "You don't need to quote distance selling regulations to me, I know them far better than you, it's my job. You obviously haven't even read our terms and conditions which states basically any goods , can be returned for a refund plus cost of return where appropriate. Shaunna." have shown to our horticulturist whos jaw dropped in disbeleif neither he nor i will ver buy from them again. sad as this was the first of what was to be several orders

Sadly ordered a selection of fruit. One tree had hardly any root at all- I worked in the nursery trade and there is no excuse for poor lifting of trees. None of the bare root strawberries have come up and I’ve really nurtured them. One raspberry out of 5 not shooting. The Tayberry did not arrive at all - all plants very small and will take years to bring on. Can’t get hold of anyone on the phone and goes to voicemail but the box is full so you can’t even leave a message.

Sad to see this company ruined by the current management. It used to have a good reputation and I’ve spent a lot of money with Chris Bowers in the past and so didn’t read reviews this time. After they sent me a dead plant and the rudest email I’ve ever received when I asked for a replacement, I advise staying well clear of it, as I will in future.

Wish I’d looked at reviews first before buying from Chris bowers. Absolutely awful, wish you could give minus stars !!!!! Spent £40 on strawberries - bare rooted so expected not tons of growth in April however almost 70% haven’t grown and the remaining are weak little things I’ve had to baby along to get any shoots to come. 5 were the latest ‘emily’ variety which cost me £17 and one was dead. Also bought raspberry canes - 5 autumn bliss and 5 glen Lyon. Glen Lyon were dried out beyond belief and haven’t recovered. 4 of the autumn bliss have held on and got shoots coming but nothing that would indicate they were healthy prime stock. Emailed them but no interest at all, just said out in the fields all day and can’t take calls to discuss order. Please, please do not get anything from this company, what you get -if it survives -just isn’t worth the money. They deserve to go out of business with this type of service.

Poor customer service exacerbated by rudeness of response. I was charged three times over on my credit card account for raspberries. I was told this must have been because I pressed the checkout button 3 times! but oddly enough I received only one set of raspberries. I asked repeatedly for CB to confirm that they had refunded my credit card account, but they didn't bother. No apologies of course. Never again.

Genuinely awful customer service. Twice sent the package to the wrong address. Even after their initial mistake - when it was made very clear that the wrong address had been used, and what the correct address was - they managed to send it to the wrong address again, offering no assistance or the slightest hint of an apology either time. This was compounded by the fact that they didn't give any notification of shipping on either occasion, so I was unaware that the package had been (incorrectly) delivered until chasing it up. On one occasion the package was sent to a nonexistent address, and the other time delivered to a vacant neighbouring property where it sat for several days until I went looking for it. This was not the fault of the shipping company/courier, but Chris Bowers putting in the wrong address in their delivery instruction. Will have to wait and see if the trees survived, as they were delivered dormant. The mistake was bad enough, but the fact that not even the mereist hint of an apology was forthcoming at any stage is even worse.

I bought a victoria plum tree as a present for my daughter. I have over 50 years' experince as a gardener and have planted many trees, including fruit trees. I knew as soon as it arrived it was a feeble tree, half the size of one I bought for myself from a decent supplier and with virtually no growth on it. The decent supplier had sold out. Bowers hadn't.) I complained and Bowers more or less told me I didn't know what I was talking about. The tree, unsurprisingly, died within a year. I do a fair amount of internet purchasing, and this is the most ill-informed and unscrupulous firm I've had the misfortune to deal with. I'd advise anyone to avoid them. There are competent tree supplieers available so why buy rubbish?

Wish I had seen this site before placing an order. I’ve given one star because I don’t think I can give any less! My order was duplicated, there were two email acknowledgments. Tried to contact by phone to no avail, when my email was responded to, I was told the error was mine as I had navigated back to the page I placed the order. There was a 2 hour gap and I know I didn’t make a mistake. Even though I was told the “second order” had been cancelled, two amounts were debited from my account. I have asked for a refund, nothing forthcoming. I have had to resort to contacting my bank, who resolved the matter for me straight away. If the tree I received had been a beautiful specimen, I may not have felt as aggrieved, but it’s not. I know that bare trees are exactly what they are supposed to be, but you can tell they are going to be a joy by the shape. I would liked to have returned it, but to what avail, no one would respond. So I’m going to nurture it as all plant lovers would. Hopefully it will respond and reward me in the Spring

Received what was supposed to be a cordon apple tree Arthur Turner. Roots were infested with couch grass and when removing it and checking could see no evidence of graft of fruiting scion onto root stock, nor was there any label to say what variety the tree actually was. finally it was a very poor specimen of no more than three feet high, it looked more like a twig to be honest. Sent an email to them querying this and was told that the graft would not show an obvious union above ground......interesting as even their planting instructions say that you should plant the union above soil level. After reading the other reviews (which I should have done before buying) have decided to cut my losses and buy from elsewhere.
