“I booked a car via "Wisecars" that i found on scyscanner rent a car page.
"Wisecars" is intermediary company for which small local companies work. in this case in Sofia: a company called "Addcar".
"Addcar bulgaria" tried all sorts of aggressive tricks to make me pay more money - pushing aggressively their own insurance making false claims, trying to charge more money for the security deposit, using a ridiculously high exchange rate when converting from euro to local currency and bluntly stating that they can use any exchange rate they want (there is a fixed official exchange rate), trying to rush through the examination process when giving me the car, charging me 960 euros for 1 tiny scratch ...
Avoid them in all cost.
It is a pity that such a reputable company does not check intermediaries who provide services on its behalf.”
“We paid €750 for a week's car rental in Greece (Lefkada) and received a totally destroyed car. While the car itself is not worth €500. Broken tail lamp, 50+ dents and rust spots, tank lid could not open, tank not full, inside all kinds of buttons broken, power car far too light for the mountains, car 12 years old. There are beautiful photos on the website, but in reality you get a vintage car. After reporting the complaints several times, no response was received. Let alone a solution or compensation. We even wanted to rent a car for another week a few weeks later. Again no response from Addcar. Everyone can and may draw his or her own conclusion, but never again for us Addcar.”
“Absolutly not to go. No honor, no respect of the contract. Our car reservation in Cluj airport has been canceled without any explication. They say where are not present at the hour because we have been delated of 10mn. They don’t try to phone us or to send a mail. They give our car to another personn. They have NOT office in the airport. They are only miserables.”

When I said no they swiftly told me that my 25.000 dollar limit credit card would not hold a 1000 dollar deposit. Stay away from these people. “Stay far away from this scammers! Rented a car in Dubai Airport in November 2021, after return thay charged my Visa $ 200.00 with "Traffic Violations". I have asked them to provide me copy of Police Report or copy of ticket. Never happened, I know I didnt get any ticket. They simply pocketed money. My bank issued me new Visa, so they wouldnt'n charge me for anything else. Be aware!”

“I had rent a car in Heraklion Crete Greece, through another site. They told me I need to pay extra 100euros for insurance, while it was already included from the site. Then they told its fully protected from scratches and I took just a few quick photos (as it was fully protected).When I returned the car they found a minor scratch that I could find in the photos and told me I had to pay 72 euros extra for administration expenses. Finally they didn't charge us because we were Greeks (!). Very bad experience, unprofessionals trying to charge you with hidden costs. I DO NOT reccomend it.”

“Have taken 4 lots of 1,900 leva from our credit card. We’re now £3,600 down and they’re saying it’s fraud. It certainly is! We’ve got receipts to show they took these amounts out on four separate occasions. Have got our credit card company involved. We’ve been travelling to Bulgaria at least 4 times a year for 7 years and have never been treated like this. Am devastated. Can’t afford this in the current circumstances with work etc. Please, please avoid them like the plague. I’m reporting them on every media I can find. BE WARNED!!!!”
“WARNING - AVOID THIS CAR RENTAL COMPANY IN SIBIU/HERMANNSTADT/ROMANIA - their business model is build on fraud and misrepresentation. You will have the worst experience of car rental in your life. After you return the rented car, the company alleges that you have caused a damages and withhold deposit payment. This seems their standard procedure. The representative does not give his full name and he even refused to hand out a copy of the return report. When you call them, there is no response. Customer satisfaction does not exist for this company. Inform your credit card company immediately, get in touch with an attorney and file a report to the local police. If you have deposited cash, it will be very difficult to get a refund. I am in touch with attorney in Bucharest and prepared for legal fight. If anybody has the same experiences and needs legal support, get in touch with me.”

I booked from these guys and nobody turned up in the airport. I was left in the airport at 3AM with a toddler and no option to rent from another company at that time.
They did not even answer any of my 10 phone call attempts (from different numbers).
This is a dodgy rental company in Cluj-Napoca (Romania), and nobody knows about them over there. Their address is not full, so you can't even find their office.
Stay away from these guys so you don't end up like me. Of course you can get your money back from the rental website or by filing a dispute through your bank, but.. who wants to start a holiday this way?
They may be the cheaper solution, but these guys are not serious.”
“We booked a car in Bulgaria Sofia Airport. We landed at midnight and the car was rented from 12:30. Unfortunately the man who behind the desk started making problems about credit card which was on my name and my boyfriend has driving licence (I don't). With us, other 4 couples had issues with this man, he was founding excuses for everyone not to rent a car. We spent 3 hours waiting for him to find solution, he was arrogant and ignored us and other people, so everyone had to take taxis or stay at the airport till morning. The man promised us that he will call his manager to see if he can amend the booking, we were waiting for the update and he just ignored us until we asked him, he just said no and ignored. The other people checked, that he had no cars to actually rent, therefore he was making up issues for everyone to cancel. As a result, us and 7 other people were robbed and scammed. We had to pay 100 euro for taxi and had no car for our holiday. They still didn't refund me my deposit since beginning of Sep. Their customer service is also appalling. Will never use them again and will spread this opinion to save other people from them thieves.”
“They will find all the way to get more money on your rent. Cross border price is expensive and they don't communicate the real price on website (it's near eighty euros). Then, they will try to find any excuse, scratch, dirty things etc... to say you have to paid because it's your responsability. One advice, don't rent here.”
“The main goal of the company is to get your money. Client satisfaction isn't important for them. They will find all way to get your money. When we rent the car the cross border price was so much expensive as usual. When we give back the car they try to find everything wrong on the car to have more money.... don't rent here is the best advice !”
“AVOID ADDCAR BUCHAREST Romania.
I rented a car through internet and paid for everything online. Arriving at the airport in Bucharest there was no ADDCAR employee waiting as agreed. I had to call by phone to be taken to the ADDCAR parking very far from the airport. To pay the security deposit I used my Credit Card enabled throughout Europe. The employee read the card on the pos reader but the transaction was denied with the message "nu onorati tranz" twice. The third time he refused to read the card saying he would block the Pos device and that the problem was mine not theirs. I contacted my bank that issued the credit card which certified me that my card is active, functioning and with a full capacity and that NO ATTEMPT TO USE WAS MADE that day.
Now there are only 2 possible cases:
- The renter's two pos devices were not working correctly or the employee was unable to carry out the card withdrawal operation correctly
- There was a trick in making me believe that the card did not work to collect the online payment for the service without providing the service.
Since my credit card was working regularly and that a business without the proper functioning to collect payments would not survive, all this makes me think of a proven SCAM since I found other reviews on ADDCAR BUCHAREST with the same MODUS OPERANDI.
SO MY ADVICE IS TO CAREFULLY AVOID ADDCAR BUCHAREST.”
“ADDCAR GREECE: if I can rate a 0, I would. Because this is the service they gave us. We arrived around midnight in Heraklion airport and received a car with a broken mirror, ‘which according to them was no problem at all’. While driving the car it appeared that we could not adjust the mirrors (dangerous!!!) and that there was a light blinking because of malfunctioning of the airbag (dangerous!!!). We immediately tried to contact addcar to replace this car for a better one. After lots of trying, and many hours lost we got a new and better car. When we brought this car back at the end of our trip they tried to charge us because we did not clean the outside (!!!) of the car. Of course we refused, don’t expect me to start cleaning if we can’t expect a working car. This company makes its money by charging people with extra things (like an insurance, cleaning car). We were very cautious and captured all the mistakes, immediately mailing it to the company and having our own insurance. IN ADDITION: when we took the car back there was a guy who also took his car back and they charged him 400€ for a small scratch on his car! If you do not document all the mistakes this company will find a way to charge you!
Our 1000€ is still locked! We have a contract and they put an ‘everything okay’ with a signature on it which I had to ask for it myself (warning sign!!, this should not be like this ). I will never book with this company again!!!! It’s good we have experience with renting cars and what to expect.....”
